OMG, please get the locas salchipapas. You'll go loco for it! Chorizo, fried bacon, small potatoes AND waffle fries all in one? Uhhh, hell yeah! The waffle fries are crisped just right - you've got the potato flavor right and the fries aren't sogging in oil. And anything with chorizo and fried bacon makes the world go round.
PLEASE. TAKE. ME. BACK! Or bring me some, please!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2013
Olivia S. took me here for a birthday snack!
I love hot dogs. Especially with crushed potato chips on top. And kewpie mayo. And sauce. Oh, the SOWSE! The chimi-churi-chori is worth getting -- chorizo and provoleta!
GET THE WAFFLE FRIES -- topped with chorizo and bacon!!!!!!!!
They also play good music here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I have nothing bad to say about this place. No reason to go less than 5 stars at all.
I had a groupon which was 18 bucks for 3 hot dogs, waffle fries and 2 beers (or sodas, but really, soda?) This is a solid deal, actually an excellent deal, the wife is buying one after our recent visit.
This place is small, has one long table and 1.5 bar type places to sit. I imagine late night this place is jam packed because if I was wasted this would probably be the greatest drunk food on the face of the Earth.
The lady and I ordered the 3 dogs, waffle fries and beers and it was more than enough to fill us both up. The guy at the window was extremely friendly and helpful and he could tell it was our first time here or experiencing their unique menu, he offered suggestions and he didn't steer us wrong. I ordered the Chimi Chimi dog...amazeballs...get it. The wife picked the other two (with the guys help), we got the Mexican one...amazeballs...get it. The other one I forget the name but it comes with all the traditional toppings of a Colombian dog...AMAZEBALLS this one was my favorite and that's why I find it ironic I don't remember the name. The waffle fries have this stuff on them that is just awesome. It was so good I just wanted more...nom nom.
Now, I don't imagine fritos on a hot dog are terribly authentic to Columbia, hell maybe it is, what do I know? Either way fritos on a hot dog is a win. Everything was good and all delicious. I could have gone in for round two. Luckily we were really the only people in there so it was quiet but I imagine it gets packed quickly as it's a tiny place.
Even if you don't have a groupon come here and chow down, it's awesome and so damn good. I can't wait to go back.
Check in with yelp for a nice surprise!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2013
Turned away by the folks at Death & Co (or shunned, rather, seeing as they took us down, but never called us), my friend and I opted to just head on home, rather than trying to find another bar that was actually accessible. Before that though, we figured we'd take advantage of the free beer offer that Yelp had for Los Perros Locos, which I'd been meaning to visit since my first day arriving in NYC. We end up ordering way more than expected, getting the:
* Pablo Escobar - Tasty in theory, until you try it, look over the ingredients again, and realize that the majority of the components are sweet. So, if that's your thing, then this mostly sweet, and only slightly savory dog is just right for you.
* Chimi-Churi-Chori - Now this one was notably tastier if you're into the savory flavor one usually expects from a dog. Add the spicy kick, and the texture imparted by the potato chips, and you've got some late night goodness.
* Locas Salchipapas Populares - Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal. Think of it as one of their dogs, deconstructed, and mixed in with crispy waffle fries. Delicious.
***Accessibility Info***
Venue - There's a single large step to get in to the venue, and once inside, you'll notice their only seating consists of a wall-length counter and fixed bench. The only "accessible" space is the section right by the entrance, where the bench stops extending.
Bathroom - Didn't try them, so not sure.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 9, 2014
WHAT ??!?!?!?! This place is amazing. I'm not even a hot dog person and it doesn't even matter. We were walking to the bar and this place caught my eye. We ended up coming back here after a night out. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I ended up getting the mas perfecto hot dog. LET ME TELL YOU- BANGIN!!! It had quail eggs, sauce, cole slaw, and all these random topping that i'm not usually into However together IT WAS SOOO GOOD..
With a yelp check in you get a free drink too... You gotta try this place out! This needs to be on some YELP MUST TRY list!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

What a fun place! So colorful and eye catching.
I came here with a friend & an Urban Daddy perk which gave us 2 hot dogs, an order or salchipapas, and a pitcher of refajo.
I had the Chimi-Churi-Chori hot dog which had: juicy chorizo, grilled provoleta, homemade chimichurri, aji panca aioli, crushed potato chips. Holy hot dog!
We split the Salchipapas locos which included waffle fries, hot dog, salsa rosada, salsa verde, marble potatoes, chorizo, fried bacon, chipzana (a chipotle and apple sauce).
The refajo I didn't really care for. It was a mix of beer and soda, I think. It tasted like watered down versions of both. Oh well, the hot dogs and fries more than made up for that.
Everything was unique and flavorful. It's open late. Definitely dangerous after a late night out!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 21, 2014
If I could be the arbiter of food trends I would burn the already crumbling edifices of yogurt and cupcakes in an instant and usher us, collectively as a people, into a new epoch, in to the brave new world of the central american hot dog.
Let go of your old world beliefs. Smash the old. Eat the rich. No gods, no kings. Eat the hot dog with ten different things on it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sally W.Jackson Heights, Queens, NY68010316204Sep 24, 2013
Don't get me wrong the food was good but the price is crazy here. It's just hot dogs!
It was $22 for 3 hot dogs, $3.50 for a very very small portion of waffle fries, $5 for two sodas. There was two of us. Over $30 to feed two people hot dogs and a couple of fries each?
We ordered
-Mas Perfecto-beef hot dog topped with apple chipotle slaw and quail egg. $7 (5/5)
-Amerro Perro-hot dog topped with a little bit of chili, chipotle kraut, crushed Fritos, Chipzana sauce $7 (1/5)
-El Perro Perdido-hot dog in a deep fried French Toast bun, strawberry ancho jam, smoked ham $8 (3/5)
Salchipapas Populares smallest portion of waffle fries with a couple of pieces of hot dogs and sauce. $3.50. (2.5/5)
Overall perceived value for the money paid, fail.
I can see why most Americans are in debt if they are spending money this way everyday. For goodness sake, it's just hot dogs! They're loco if they think I am going to pay $8 for a Perros.
Granted the hot dogs taste better at Los Perros Locos than the other hot dog place in the east village. I give them that much.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Sally! First off thanks for your comment. What we go for at LPL is the intersection of value and quality. To keep high quality food (all of our toppings are homemade) we do have to charge to reflect that, if we used street-cart level meat, bread, and toppings we could charge street cart prices. Fortunately we don't, so for a reasonable price we can offer MUCH higher quality food. Normally the salchipapas is a solid portion of food for only $3.50, I'm sorry if yours came out a bit light but I'd be happy to buy you a normal sized order next time you're in.
Dollars to donuts, we take our customers' hard-earned $$$ seriously and do our best to put a solid amount of high quality food out for the money you all spend with us. We take the hot dog game to another level and will stand by this by keeping up our food quality rather than sacrificing it at the expense of a dollar or two.
I hope you'll give us another shot and if so I'd love to talk you through the menu and try to give you the best we have to offer for your buck.
All the best,

The goal here in my half-drunken haze was finding a hot dog place good enough to make me feel less guilty about secretly binging on hot dogs on a weekly basis. Los Perros locos delivers in terms of crazy toppings and creative concoctions, but not necessarily in terms of flavor.
I tried their popular Amerro-Perro, and though the elements of the dog were enough to satisfy my drunchies, the dog itself was not particularly impressive. Underneath those layers of pizzazz-y toppings and regretful calories was just a plain hot dog--kind of like a starved, tired-looking supermodel embellished with fancy makeup. I would recommend it for a guilty one night stand of gorging on a hot dog exploding with calories on a drunken night, but wouldn't if you're looking for a classy snack.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Nicole S.Suches, GA16115523Jan 30, 2013First to Review
Yay!! Los Perros Locos finally opened!!! I've been walking past this place for weeks now and drooling with anticipation. A Colombian Hot Dog place three blocks from me?? Does it get any better?? What is a Colombian Hot Dog you ask?? That's an excellent question and you're about to find out!
The decor is fun and festive and it's set up like an indoor hot dog stand, on the "streets" of Colombia, which is cute. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were also knowledgeable about the menu and that was a good thing considering all the interesting concoctions on there. The service was really... really slow, but it was their first day and we might have been their first customers, so I'll forgive them that today. I mean, they didn't even have change yet.
The hot dogs were awesome though! The prices weren't too bad, about $6 - 7 for a specialty dog and they are large and filling. The dogs themselves are juicy and flavorful and they toast the buns, which I really appreciate. We ordered the...
Pablo Escabar - hot dog with pineapple salsa, apple chipotle slaw, potato chips, Kewpie mayo, and perico (yeah, I don't know what that is either). This dog was hands down my favorite. The sweetness of the salsa, cool of the slaw, crunch of the chips and salty of the dog were excellent! I do which the slaw had a bit more chipotle kick to it though, it was definitely tame.
Chimi-Churi-Chori - grilled chorizo dog with grilled provoleta, chimichurri sauce, aioli, and crushed potato chips. The grilled chorizo was really wonderful and had well balanced flavors. The rest was just okay. It wasn't really spicy, as I had been told, and it was missing something... like that pineapple salsa. The provoleta didn't add anything the dog at all, but the chimichurri was very good.
Spicy Spicy Mango Perros - hot dog with spicy mango mojo, melted mozzarella, and spicy Doritos. This was awesome. Sweet, spicy, a little Doritos cheesy... it was a great combination. My friend, Alice, who I was with, kept talking about it with her mouth full, so you know it had to be good.
Mazzzzzorca - which they claim is "the best grilled Mexican corn you have ever had." Um... yeah, not so much. I would disagree whole heatedly. First of all, it wasn't grilled. It was boiled, soggy... and over cooked. I would even go out on a limb and say this was either frozen corn reheated or corn made the night before; it definitely wasn't fresh. The spices didn't stand out to me either. It was very underwhelming and way over priced at $4. I'll be heading to Cafe Habana for my Mexican Corn... those Cubans know how to do Mexican Corn right!
Overall, I will definitely be back, as I'd like to try some of the other fun hot dogs on their menu - like the El Perro Perdido - hot dog in a deep dried french toast bun, strawberry ancho jam, smoked ham and melted swiss! I'm sure they'll have worked out all the little kinks by the time I return. This place will be great for late night munchies!!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
