Before you read any further, you should know that this restaurant has closed. Unfortunately, due to the historical nature of the building, and the extensive cost of upkeep and any repairs, the owners have decided to close Locke Garden Restaurant for good. They served their last meal last weekend. They will be greatly missed in this community.
With that being said, when I did have the opportunity to enjoy the food here, it was delicious. You can tell they put their heart and soul into everything they do.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 4 - 28153682May 23, 2023
Fantastic Chinese food in downtown Locke. The chef is so nice and friendly. Entering this restaurant is a delightful step into Locke's Chinese history. Restaurant is all take out but can be eaten inside or on tables outside. Chow mein is cooked fresh and has the taste of a well-seasoned wok. Enjoyed everything about it.

Came when it was still take out only but there was a picnic bench outside we were able to eat at. It's an eclectic spot with lots of decorations and very sweet staff. Portion sizes are generous and everything is solid! I would definitely get a spread of items to try. Calamari was surprisingly delicious and one of my favorites!

Authentic food, Generous portions
We made a special trip to Locke Historic District Saturday night. We ended up enjoying an authentic Chinese meal here at Locke Garden. Let me explain. We didn't know that an operating Chinese restaurant existed here. We thought that the town was abandoned and we just wanted to explore. Business hours sign on the door said that they were open until 9:00. Somewhere else it said that they closed at 7:30p.
It was almost 8:00p the door was not locked and the lady owner inside greeted us, we asked if we could get an order of potstickers. She was happy to oblige even though she said that they were about to close soon. We had just eaten dinner elsewhere but I wanted to try their food. The potstickers was freshly made and each piece was huge. Hubby and I ate one piece each and brought the rest back to our hotel.
The next day we came back to Locke Historic District. We wanted to explore now in the daytime. Halfway through walking on Main Street we stopped by to get some food... BBQ Pork Fried Rice for me and Wonton soup for the hubby. The fried rice was delicious! I ended up eating the whole thing! I know... don't judge. Hubby enjoyed the soup. They were generous on the dumplings and they were huge! Soo good!
The restaurant is outdoor dining only. There were picnic tables outside. When Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures crew came out and did an episode in Locke [Season 11, Episode 5 which aired in February 2016] it showed them having a meal here at Locke Garden. Built in 1912, this was Locke's first building. It is sort of hidden so keep your eyes peeled or you might miss it. It is located across the Boathouse Marina on River Road.

We live locally and have been going to Locke Garden for years. The owners are just wonderfully kind and friendly. They work very hard to serve their customers good food with good service.
Several years ago, I left my money clip on the table after paying the bill. We got to Mel's Mocha (also recommended) before I realized my cash was missing. My wife returned to the restaurant and met the owner, who had been searching through Locke trying to find us and return the money. She left her work to try to get me my $40. So incredibly rare these days. Really good people.
They have not bounced back from Covid restrictions yet and don't offer table service any more, but you can order carry out and eat in, which is worth doing just for the, um, ambiance of the place.
I think the food is delicious, and we have always enjoyed everything we have tried on the menu.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark J.Galt, CA225532Feb 16, 2023

New to the area, chinese food not my favorite, husband loves. Well Chinese food isn't usually a trigger food to my obesity. Everything was great awesome customer service, made to order/go, great beer while I waited for my order, price a little cheaper, the servings were vast and taste great. The only thing I wish there was more parking! Definitely be going back years to come. Thanks you guys are doing awesome!

This place is awesome. Had their Wonton Soup and Fried Chicken Wings.
服務員識講廣東話 (it can be really tough for us ABCs to figure out sometimes whether Cantonese or Chinese is accepted at a place; in this case they speak cantonese). Their chicken wings were really good and together with the wonton soup make an excellent no-leftovers travel lunch for two. However, they are currently only doing takeout although you can come in and order, just no seating. The soup base for the wontons is a lovely chicken stock, with bok choy, straw mushrooms, and broccoli. Wings were good, but I don't know what kind of umami sauce they were covered in. Dry to the touch though, so clean eating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jacqueline H.Walnut Grove, CA2242Jun 21, 2022

Really tasty food and friendly staff, glad we decided to check this place out. The moo shu pork was good, and the fried rice was tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was also good.
