I've eaten here many times and am somehow just now getting around to writing a review. This place is amazing. They conjure culinary magic in a tiny kitchen (which sits in plain sight), with minimal equipment. The menu changes constantly, in line with the chef's demanding standards for the highest quality ingredients.
The combinations dreamed up by Chef Sam are always palette pleasers, executed to perfection by the chef and his staff. The choices are far ranging and sometimes creative but always centered on superb taste. And everything's made in house. The pasta's made in house. The ice creams and other desserts are made in house. The rabbit liver mousse (if you are lucky enough to find it on the menu when you visit) is made in house. Great food memories are made in house. Every visit. I've yet to have a bad dish here.
The wait staff and bartender are equally talented. Everyone works together as a team here to make your experience top notch.
This place deserves a larger patronage--especially during the week. With food of this caliber, it should be packed every night. Do your part!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 475321860Oct 21, 2015
I'm leaning towards 5 stars but didn't try enough to go there yet. Let's start with service, which was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgable and patient. He took time to explain the specialties and provided detailed explanations about the type of meats they use, which I must admit, was quite impressive. Apparently they have the top of the line pig that the farmer only sells to five restaurants. And they feed their pig hazelnuts, to add flavor... What?! Are you serious?!
Ok so that leads up to food. We weren't too hungry so ordered deviled eggs and lamb burger to share. The deviled eggs were probably the best I've had, the candied bacon on the top gives it just the right flavor. The lamb burger was also superb. Meat was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. Bun was a little soggy. The meat was so good though that you don't even need a bun.
Finally, ambiance and drinks. Hand-crafted cocktails were great and ambiance is intimate and welcoming.
Only other gripe is prices are pretty high. Gotta pay for that quality meat!
I'll try again, maybe by then I'll update to 5 stars!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Saejin K.Seattle, WA1512729Mar 18, 2017
Had a great meal at LloydMartin! The server was excellent and the food was light but satisfying, perfectly seasoned, and fresh. We got the ram pappardelle and trumpet risotto. Both were excellent. We also got the hamachi appetizer due to all the rave reviews- it was good, but didn't quite blow us out of the water. I will say the whole experience would have been better with a few pieces of bread. I really wanted to scoop up all the leftover sauces at the end.
We will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3643101058Aug 16, 2013
Small little restaurant in upper Queen Anne. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat and just stumbled upon this place. We got about 4 different things to share and I must say.. their style of food is so unique and something I've never seen before! I absolutely love it! They combine such interesting flavors that go well with each other.
My favorite was probably the gnocchi and brisket. I have never had this kind of deep fried, crispy gnocchi. The combo is amazing and they give you such a generous serving of meat so you can eat gnocchi and meat in every bite.
Dessert - bacon waffle with strawberries and ice cream!! YummmmmHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 23, 2014
I came here for dine around Seattle. Their menu changes everyday according to the waitress, but today, I decided to get the Hamachi crudo, lobster mac and cheese and for dessert the cardamom cake with a side of vanilla ice cream.
Hamachi crudo was fresh with yuzu drizzled on top and avocado dotted throughout.
Truffle lobster mac and cheese had a good amount of black truffle shavings and 5 or so large pieces of lobster. It was creamy, but not super creamy.
Cardamom cake had a texture similar to focaccia but was lightly sweet with a side of vanilla ice cream. I thought the dessert overall, was ok.
Not sure if they were putting their best food for Dine Around Seattle, but quite frankly, I would give it 3.5 stars if yelp would allow me to since the food was fresh, but wasn't outstanding.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason P.Seattle, WA939334May 24, 2017
Simply one of the best restaurants in Seattle. My wife and I are not able to go out very often but when we do, LloydMartin is our go-to place probably half the time. The staff is friendly, service is on point and Shane, the barman, pours a lovely glass of wine every time.
The Chef, Sam Crannell, puts his heart into every plate using mostly local ingredients from top notch purveyors. What many reviewers fail to understand is that: 1) they have no open flame here nor a hood due to the configuration of the building - not because they don't want one, and 2) because of this, everything is cooked on induction burners or in a convection oven. This is no small feat and something to be impressed by and appreciative of.
Dining here is always a personal experience and I've never had a plate I didn't enjoy. Skip the crowded places everyone talks about and come here. You'll be happy you did.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This is my new favorite restaurant! There are not a lot of times where every aspect of the restaurant meets all of my requirements. First off we did not have reservations but our server Jennifer was very accommodating and found us a table. The menu was spectacular and hard to choose from. I was with two other guests and we got 4 starters and 3 entrees. We started off with the hamachi, beef tartare, fall salad, and golden beets. These dishes were simple yet complex, all ingredients had a purpose. For dinner we had the lamb loin, duck confit. The entrees were packed with more ingredients but once again all with purpose. The ambiance of the restaurant made you feel at home. The wine was great as well, we had a Prosecco to start and a Gigondas to finish. I can't wait to go back and try their chef's tasting menu, after that experience I feel Like I can trust them.

The food here was totally adequate. Given the prices, it should have been excellent. Overall, it was tasty and well-executed, but nothing special.
The service was a little strange. We were here on a Thursday, the restaurant was half empty, and we were enjoying our conversation. The server kept trying to take our plates away while we were still eating. The first time I assumed it was a misunderstanding. The third time it was just annoying. Had the restaurant been full (or even close), I might have understood that they wanted to free up the table. In this case, it just seemed like bad service. A nice restaurant shouldn't rush guests through their meals.
One nice thing about the restaurant is that it's pretty quiet, a rare thing in Seattle. It was great for conversation, apart from the constant risk of our food being taken away.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Rebecca!
Sorry to hear that your meal with us wasn't superb. Although the food was delicious, perhaps we were a bit over eager to be attentive to you as our guest. We hope you'll come back for a second round and give us another try. We'd love the chance to serve you again. - Andrew E.Seattle, WA4299Oct 28, 2016
I've eaten at Lloyd Martin enough times to know the food will be amazing no matter what you order. But I'm not here to talk about the food, I'm here to heap praise upon the amazing staff and chef that went above and beyond tonight. My colleague had a medical emergency at our table and the staff leapt in to action without missing a beat. They were the kindest, most considerate restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of not finishing my dinner at. And the chef flat our refused to let me pay for what we HAD eaten as we rushed out the door.
My eternal gratitude to you guys. Lloyd Martin will forever be my highest recommendation in Seattle.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ron M.Seattle, WA48333126357May 1, 2013
This place is simply awesome! When people talk about the dining experience, to me, LloydMartin has it in abundance! They push your palate with imaginative dishes that have me and my friends talking about it months after we ate there! I remember our first visit there - it was for happy hour, but after comparing it to the dinner menu we decided to go full on and ordered the following:
#1 Matsutake - Teleggio, fried duck egg and toast. ($13)
Duck Ragu - Gnocchi, brie fondue, raspberry and sage. ($20)
Black Rotolo - Braised kale, l'alveare, tomato and vodka sauce. ($18)
Rabbit Duo - Carrot risotto, braised cabbage and bacon. ($28)
After that amazing meal it was agreed upon to make this a quarterly deal since it is a bit pricey (I would eat here daily if I could). Our last visit was in early April when we dined on:
Chicken Liver Mousse - Duck fat preserve, cornichon and Dijon. ($8)
Charred Asparagus - Caesar dressing and parmesan. ($10)
Country Pork Pate - Baguette, Dijon and cornichon. ($12)
Sweetbread-Hash - 64 degree Celsius egg, chorizo, potato, onion pesto and almond. ($14)
Sautéed Oregon Morels - house chitarra pasta and parmesan. ($32)
Lamb Blade Chop - marbled potatoes, Thumbelina carrots and lamb jus. ($32)
The food is tapas in style which makes it perfect for people to try various dishes. The servings are not large, but very rich! Their menu changes daily, too!
Make sure to make a reservation! SERIOUSLY!
