Delicious food.
Inventive menu.
A bit over priced.
But an amazing dinner with a great buzzy atmosphere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 451242394Feb 6, 2024
Peruvian restaurant with heavy Asian influences done in a strange way.
+scallop: fresh scallops in a very very spicy sauce and very spicy candied ginger. Hard dish to eat
+pig tails: the soy flavored sauce felt really off. Like, the flavors were sweet but not a good kind. I also didn't enjoy the consistency of the sauce. Wish it had been stickier.
+mackerel: nice fish with good sauce. I love corn flavored things. Strongly disliked the cheese on the side but I think that just might be me being unfamiliar with this type of flavor
+pork collar: our favorite of the night. Pork was flavored and cooked perfectly. Very tender. Sauce was underwhelming though and I didn't love the onion with the sweet potatoHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gabriel T.New York, NY14159120Jan 7, 2024Updated review
It's nice to see a restaurant back at the top of its game. It's a gorgeous interior, the Lomo is maybe the most delectable thing in North Brooklyn, their apps are all good too. Don't skip those mushroom skewers.
I really liked their new martini, and I thought even their service was more on point and focused than I've ever seen it. Five stars, so grateful it's here, still not quite interested in returning for brunch though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 17, 2021Previous reviewThey still dish out great and eclectic food at LI, their covid set-up is part of the Outdoor Village program and is pretty, and well-thought-out, and they are super friendly.
I was (slightly) disappointed that their signature dish, the Lomo, has been pared back to serve only one person now. It's not the same this way! It's slightly less decadent, which was its whole deal. The cooking is still top notch. Nothing really misses, whether you want fresh fish or something grainier. We sampled a good portion of the menu. The cocktails still shine. It was all great.
Main complaint: the rushed, aggressive service, Dear Lord. I can't count how many times someone was suddenly in my face asking "can we clear this for you?" when I had a forkful of said plate still in my mouth. This grew legit *uncomfortable* as we were hardly going over our suggested amount of time dining there. However, looking at past reviews of this place, the service was never a high point of this restaurant, and unfortunately still isn't. FOH is sweet as can be, however, and this remains a necessary neighborhood gem.May 12, 2019Previous reviewI remain a fan of this restaurant but brunch is a different story. Service manages to both rush you and be asleep at the wheel--not an easy combination to achieve. For some reason (my mistake) it was a special occasion so ordered the $27 burger. It was just a burger. Certainly not worth the price. Half the plate was fries. I asked for ketchup, and my server had no idea what ketchup was. "Uh, we don't do that here," he said. Oh, really? Then you can take the $27 burger right back to the kitchen, cause I don't eat plain fries. "Do you want hot sauce?" No, I have a stomach condition. Suddenly, ketchup was produced (miraculously found!) and served to me awkwardly spread on a saucer. Uh. Ok...
Apr 23, 2017Previous reviewYou guys,
This place has steak stir fry. You get these scallion pancakes, peppers, avocados, other accompaniments (all of which works, like the creamy components that make an iPhone 6 run), along with a squeeze bottle of some sort of magical aioli (possibly sourced from your favorite episode of Adventure Time, given its almost fantastical finality) and you place chunks of perfectly cooked delectable meat inside these pancakes and YOU F---NG EAT IT.
I mean, what else can I really say?
All the small plates are varied and scrumptious. I have been here numerous times, tried a wide array of dishes, and I have never put anything in my mouth I didn't love.
The Llama Del Rey remains my favorite cocktail, frothing forth memories of Concord grape juice and lavender colored popsicles from the Good Humor Man when I was a kid.
This is Peruvian cuisine, and you're likely not going to experience these combinations of flavors anywhere else in the city. The place is festive (but bro-crammed) and brilliantly designed--it's basically a glass cube sitting underneath the BQE, decorated by the ghost of Mike Kelly.
Service is friendly and personable, but my one caveat: after all this time, still a bit dizzy.
After some kinks, they perfected their reservation system so you can control if you want to sit at the bar, or at the open kitchen, or at a normal table in the dining room (my choice).
This place makes me happy every time I go, it makes me happy that it's in my neighborhood, and it makes me happy to recommend it. - Nov 10, 2023
Trendy spot for Peruvian food in Brooklyn. I would highly recommend having a reservation here, especially for the weekends. The food was decent and definitely unique. We came here with a group of four and shared all the dishes.
We started off with cocktails, 2 different ceviches, and beef heart skewers. Definitely some of the most unique ceviche flavors I have had - both were incredibly refreshing. We then split the lomo saltado - the most highly anticipated dish of the night. Unfortunately 3/4 of us found it incredibly salty and the steak to fry ratio was completely off considering the price (we probably each had 2 morsels of beef). We finished with the olive oil cake which was okay, nothing to write home about.
Overall cool spot to check out but will probably not be returning any time soon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 2023
Haven't heard a single bad thing about Llama Inn and it had been on my summer bucket eats so when my friend asked me to brunch, of course I immediately said yes. Should preface this by saying I lived in Peru for about a month and am a huge fan of Peruvian food, but have found it difficult to come by.
We went on Sunday at 2 pm and had a reservation, but it was pretty empty so don't think it's necessary to make one. We asked the server for recommendations and glad we did, because everything was delicious. I'm not much of a drinker for brunch so opted for a drip coffee which was very good. Hard to find good black coffee so I was already pretty impressed with just that.
We split everything between the two of us-- ordered the fluke ceviche to start and the lomo saltado and the big breakfast. The ceviche was very good, which came in leche de tigre. Very tart and a little spicy, accompanied by corn and some sweet potatoes. I found the fish to be a bit of a thick cut, but I think that's just a preference.
The big breakfast came out next, which has toast, a tamal, pork shoulder, blood sausage, and scrambled eggs. This is a great dish to share as it's plated like a little spread and you can pick at the various items. The meat was very tender and the seasoning was unique and paired wonderfully with the crema.
The lomo saltado came out next and this thing was massive. It had the meat on the bottom topped with french fries, two eggs, banana and crema. Also comes with a side of rice. The sauce for the meat was also another acidic vinegar-based concoction which was delicious. The fries on top were super crispy and reminiscent of McDonalds fries (my favorite) while the ones on the bottom got soaked up in the vinegar sauce which were delicious with the meat and eggs. It was a lot of food, but there are few things I enjoy as much as a long slow meal with conversation and we did a pretty good job making our way through almost everything after some time.
We lingered here til past 4:30 and the service here was really great. Also a very cute interior with nice spacing between the seats, making it a relaxed vibe. I'm really not much of a bruncher, but this brunch may have changed my perspective! Overall, I think this goes without saying but if you don't like tart acidic flavors full of lime and vinegar, this spot (or Peruvian cuisine as a whole) may not be to your liking.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Oct 30, 2023
Genuinely my favorite restaurant in the city! The lomo saltado is a great dish for sharing, and it's a pretty fun spin on traditional lomo saltado with the combination of rice and French fries (with scallion pancakes to sop up the sauce afterwards). I've also tried their ceviche and a handful of anticuchos and was pleasantly surprised by each dish.
The drinks are also great (the chicha morada and corn/mezcal cocktails are my personal favorites) and they also boast a wide selection of spirits. It's a bit pricey, but an excellent spot for a night out in Williamsburg.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 25, 2023
Staffs were very friendly and accommodating. We made reservations however some of our friends were stuck in traffic, the waiter explained to us the menu.
Food was delicious, fresh and healthy.
I would pass on the Crudite, the Bao is interesting if you're not allergic to seafood.
Would recommend trying the Larry and Japanese Sweet Potatoes as savory items and the sweet item to try is Japanese Pancakes, it so sweet and fluffy!
The ambiance is zen especially on a rainy day. Would recommend coming here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 10, 2023
A cool bar with good vibes in Williamsburg. I came with a group of 5 and we sat at a booth.
What we ordered:
- Papi Don't Preach: my favorite drink! I thought it was refreshing.
- Cool for the Summer
- Llama del Rey
- Bananarama (?): this was too strong for my liking.
- Another drink that I am forgetting
- A banana cream cake (?)
Service was great and our group definitely lingered a little bit but they did not rush us at all!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 18, 2023Updated review
Llama Inn remains impeccable. I finally made it in time for happy hour (M-F from 5-6:30) and tried:
+ Llama del rey
+ La calzada
+ Cariñito
+ Fog catcher
+ Fluke ceviche
+ Baked oysters
+ bok choy
+ Iberico pork collar
+ Beef tongue
+ Side of fries
+ Stone fruit dessert
My favorite cocktails were the llama del rey and fog catcher, while the top dishes were the oysters and bok choy. That bok choy is NYC's best-kept salad secret. Dessert was also awesome!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1Jun 14, 2022Previous reviewMade a same-day res for bar seats and had another great experience. My boyfriend and I ordered:
+ Touch of evil cocktail
+ Chirulin criolla cocktail
+ Fluke tiradito
+ Mushroom with aji verde
+ Pig tails

The cocktails were both amazing, and that bok choy salad remains one of my favorite salads ever. Fluke was also awesome!Nov 26, 2020Previous reviewLlama Inn is a hard reservation, and definitely worth it. My party of three ordered:
+ Goji go go cocktail - this was the group favorite
+ Mala noche cocktail - good
+ Llamarita cocktail - great
+ Pork belly - best app for sure
+ Beef heart - very tasty
+ Roasted pinto potato - delicious
+ Bok choy - wasn't expecting this to be a salad, but it was and it was amazing
+ Beef tenderloin - incredible, don't miss this
I'll absolutely return, but I'll wait until it warms up again, as we sat outside in early November and they didn't have heaters so it was a bit nippy. The food though!! - Jul 25, 2023
Oh where can I even start ??? This place absolutely blew my mind. We came here for brunch while visiting, this place was a James beard nominee, so we had to give it a try. The ambiance of the place was wonderful and was very tropical inside. Lots of plants and open air space that really set the mood. Our server and host were extremely helpful, guiding with preferred menu choices and cocktails to begin our tasteful journey. We had several appetizers and each one had unique flavor profiles that were rather pleasing to the palette. The oysters had to be my favorite for sure. The cocktails each had select Peruvian liquors that matched well with all of the dishes. We all tried other things on the menu ranging from the pork shoulder, chicken thigh and mushroom toast. Every bite was cherished! I would love to return here. They said their dinner menu was even better. !
