They offer the traditional mexican food items plus fried chicken.
I ordered 2x2 of carne asada and grilled chicken street tacos. The chicken was good, big soft chunks of chicken. The carne asada was a little on crunchy side. The carne asada was cut into really small pieces and left a tad to long on the grill. Other than that, the food was pretty good.
A small place. Several tables inside overflowing into sidewalk. They have the restaurant street side and also service the bar on the other side.
Good place for quick snack or drunk food after a day or evening in Ocean Beach.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 16, 2018
Best fish tacos in San Diego and certainly in OB. $2 tacos on Tuesday with chicken, beef, fish or veggie. My wife had a shredded beef and a chicken, both crunchy. They were, in her word "delicious". They did not scrimp on the pollo or carne either, two was plenty.
I ordered three fish tacos. Soft, large corn tortillas filled with a good sized fish fillet, battered and fried. a cabbage, onion cilantro slaw balances out the substantial fillet. When they came out I was concerned that I would not be able to finish all three and started figuring ways to keep the freshness until I could finish it later. We kept talking and people watching until I had the last one on the plate. Needless to say, I carried all three of them home in MY BELLY!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Donald B.San Francisco, CA202168132Dec 23, 2020
Ordered chicken wings and tacos on a late night while wandering around OB. I really wanted to like this restaurant, especially because everyone here was so friendly. I walked in and they were handing out food to homeless people who were waiting nearby. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience at all.
The tacos weren't good. The chicken wings weren't really edible. To be fair, I was really craving spicy mango habanero but this place just really didn't satisfy that. I haven't been back here and don't plan to come back anytime in the future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1733925376Feb 28, 2017
Excellent space usage of such a cute, but impossibly small kitchen and seating area. The service is always fast and friendly. I've eaten here a few times now and the chicken rolled tacos are tender and flavorful. Just don't care for the fried zucchini, only because it's sliced really thin and the batter is a bit thicker than I'd like. Guess I just prefer the thick cut zucchini with a thin layer of batter. The people watching is at a premium since this location is close to the beach. Lot's of dogs, bicycle's and of course people too. Looking forward to trying the pastor specialty menu, (pork marinade with chipotle, pineapple, and orange juices) and the chicken burritos. Definitely will be back!

Holocaust fries is what I call them. Where's the beef, did they run out and just make it through their last order with whatever was remaining or what? If you want solid carne asada fries try taco fiesta on West Point Loma, Now that is bang for your buck.
A huge clump of pasty creamy guac and what felt like Knudsen's sour cream at best. A dollar tip for what ? Taking 1 spoon full of each (sour cream, guacamole, and dry cold beef with cheese on top) hoping the cheese would melt.
The guacamole there is an injustice to Mexico and would best be compared to sdsu's fake/watered down meal plan eggs, at their all you can eat buffet, for an omelet and you kindly had to ask the chef for real eggs ... to be looked at as some sort of food snob).
This would be a 1 star if it wasn't for the fact that sunshine kicks ass as a bar and the fries tasted a bit like McDonald's fries.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 12, 2019
A really great, hole in a wall, authentic Mexican food that's right off the pier. We were actually going to a different place, and not this one because of the reviews I was seeing on here. The other place had almost all of its menu out so we decided to come here and am I glad we did. The food was fresh, tasted great, and the menu had a lot of options for some really authentic Mexican. The guy taking the order was also really nice and very friendly, knew what his best sellers are and what to recommend. The only thing I took points off is because the place is tiny and there was hardly anywhere to move, even on the outside seating. But if I happen to come by the area again, I would gladly come back here.

Disgusting
I really am not sure how this place rates so high on Yelp. I think the ratings may be directly proportional to the amount of drinks people have had at Sunshine Company when they get their food. The rolled tacos were not even edible last time I was there and they do not have a salsa bar. I asked for green sauce and apparently they do not have that either. I have also had regular tacos here and their burritos. Both were a pass for me. I gave them three chances and all were a fail. I am done with you Livingstons.
Hint: we were drunk and the food was still horrible, that has to tell you something.

My daughter wanted fish tacos for lunch today, so we looked for a few walk-ably close spots and liked the look of Livingston's, as we tend to seek out little spots that may be more mom & pop than pop & flash, you know?
I've always thought that food tastes better when someone's well being and heart is behind it.
So, we roll into Livingston's to find no line and just one guy behind the counter. He never looks up, never says hello. He's working, cooking food. I figure he's a single-task-at-a-time guy, I can wait. About 5-7 minutes later, two ladies come in, say a few words to him and he hands off the food he's been prepping. They must have called it in.
He looks at me and asks what we want (family of 5.) I tel him we're going to do 2 sets of the 4 street tacos. One fish, one chicken. He says "No fish for the street tacos."
I look at the sign on the wall and it clearly lists fish as an option for the fish tacos. I said, "Oh, okay, well the sign says fish is an option, so that's why I asked for it."
"No. No fish on street tacos." And he lists the other options again. So, I turn to my daughter and she says it's fine so I order 8 of the tacos for the kids, a chorizo breakfast burrito for my wife and a carne asada burrito for myself.
Dude never looks back up again, never says a word & gets to work. Now, I try my hardest to be polite and not push in, but the multiple signs inside and outside clearly list fish street tacos as an option. I didn't bring it back up again, and just let it rest.
About 5-10 minutes in, I notice there's no beef going on the grill. I catch his eye and ask about the carne asada burrito. He ignores me. Looks back down and keeps working.
About 15 minutes in (total) he comes to the counter, two wrapped taco plates, one chorizo burrito. No carne asada to be seen. I ask him again. Nothing.
So we pay for what we have and leave.
Not super happy. Not coming back.
I can speak a little Spanish, but this guy didn't want to engage at all. I split the burrito w my wife as we walked away and picked up some sesame chicken on the way home.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Allis N.San Diego, CA296151418Jan 13, 2017Updated review
Oh wow, why did I make another visit to this place? Dont know but NEVER EVER EVER COMING BACK. So i decided to go to sunshine company to grab a drink and order from there. Went to the window and were completely ignored when the guy was standing there. Sure we patiently waited but he was gesturing abd talking to us with broken English as if we were stupid so we went to the front instead.
We went to the front. There was no one sitting in the restaurant and again, we were IGNORED. How rude. What a waste of 20 minutes. You don't want my money?? We'll just go a few doors down. Wow, what has this place become? Gone down the drain.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLEHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 22, 2016Previous reviewCame here around 6pm one evening and there was no one in the store but the cooks. Was ignored for 5 minutes until someone took my order... food took even longer to come out with us being the only ones there FIRST. But of course shortly after our order, they were taking orders from Sunshine (next door and great when you need munchies)
The people working are not friendy and the place is dirty with 4 tiny tables and chairs. I got a California Burrito because they claim to have the BEST in OB. I LOVE BURRITOS!! Was it the best? It was aiiiighhht.
It was a good portion burrito. Everything was very FRESH, the guac was like you just cut open an avocado. And so was the meat, that was fresh too! Mine just had cheese all in one corner so i didnt really like that.
No lobster tacos. If you don't have it, dont be rude to the customer. It was NO where started that you were out or dont have it during this time.
$8 for a California!
