I was very very happy with their vegetable pho, sesame chicken, and pork fried rice. I dined in for pho and got the chicken and rice to go for my fiancé. The ambiance was wonderful in there, smells like authentic Vietnamese and the food was delicious!!! While I was waiting for my food I was listening to the phone ring over and over, many people ordering take out and delivery. I am picky about my pho and this place got it perfect! I will be back many many times. My waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was amazing along with all the other staff there. They were wonderful. I can't wait until I'm craving pho again!!
Thank you for a wonderful experienceHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ebie F.New York, NY31394Aug 19, 2023
Well this was a surprise. Don't be surprised by the shopping center location. This is a restaurant worth driving miles to experience. First off, our server Crystal was the BEST. She made recommendations that were spot on. She clearly listened to our dietary needs and delivered. And then the food... incredible. The Vietnamese noodles and chicken were perfect. Pho was great I'm told. Our kids loved their sushi, lo mein, and pad thai. And Crystal made sure my meal was gluten free.
An easy five star and high high recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Karen F.Dallas, GA09Sep 14, 2023
I like to give businesses a chance and whenever I can, contact them first before writing a bad review - give them a chance to respond/address the situation. I did so with Little Tokyo & Saigon and did not receive any response, and so I am commenting on a recent visit/pick up order.
Ordered the Gen Taos, Chicken Combo Platter and Sushi - The sushi was GREAT, no complaints - the other dishes did not fair as well - dry and hard and definitely not worth the $70 spent for it.
Businesses have off days, I understand, but this was 80% of the meal that was not good -
Not sure that I would go back again - disappointed nothing was commented back on my original email to them.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - JD B.York, ME0351Dec 19, 2023
The food is adequate, but nothing special. The service was good, but the atmosphere is very tired. I can't specifically recommend any of the food items because nothing stood out as special. To be fair, nothing was awful either. The place just feels like it has been dishing out the same uninspired Chinese food for decades and they put very little passion into the stuff they serve.

3 times in a row can't get the takeout order right. Glad to see a new Asian place opened in Portsmouth. Will try that next.

I hate to do this but it was bad. In the last couple of years it met expectations for being a general place to get Pho. I went a month ago and my order was to go. I'm not sure if covid really affected their business but they gave me bean sprouts that had become a jelly consistency. That was disgusting enough that it made me question their Pho soup and I couldn't eat it after a couple of bites. The fresh spring rolls didn't taste the same as before either.
On a side note --if you at are close to Metheun then try Spring Restaurant. Great coconut boba drinks and great Pho & vermicelli bun.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - ashley h.Pease, Portsmouth, NH0171Oct 16, 2023
It's actually awesome but don't go there because you'll ruin it for the rest of us whom are regulars.

I was very disappointed coming into this restaurant. The food was wonderful especially pho, but service was absurd. My family and I were greeted with a clumsy and rude waitress who messed up our order and blamed it on us. As we asked politely for extra utensils, it seemed like it was a burden for the waitress as it also took her very long to attain them. I gave this one star for the sake of the food which tasted wonderful. There was enough bean sprouts and basil provided for pho and the fried noodles were great. But, we genuinely hope that other customers will not be treated like this.

I work in customer service and I know that positive reviews are incredibly important so I very rarely review a negative experience. That said, my experience at Little Tokyo & Saigon warrants a 1 star review... I'd leave 0 if I could. We've been here several times and loved the food, drinks, and service. Not tonight.
Most of the staff is NOT wearing masks- the host/bartender (same guy doing 2 different jobs from what I could see) greeted us with no mask. Mind you, he took care of the person that walked in AFTER us first. He ignored us when we first walked in- made eye contact with me and proceeded to continue doing other stuff. All he needed to do was say "hi, I'll be right with you."
Every seat at the bar was full and it was several different parties, meaning no one was socially distanced at all. The entire kitchen staff was not wearing masks (we were seated by the kitchen so got to see this firsthand) and several of them came in/out of the dining room without masks while we were eating. The sushi chef also was not wearing a mask and he is positioned in the dining room- right next to where we sat.
I know going out to eat during a pandemic is risky enough but at the same time there is a level of expectation that restaurants abide by the rules set out by the state of NH. There's a mask mandate in Portsmouth too...
Food was terrible. My edamame were cold. Crab Rangoons were the star of the meal. My chicken lo mein was "okay" but the chicken was chewy. My fiancé ordered the "pad Thai" but was given what appeared to be spaghetti with 3 shrimp on top and a couple of small pieces of tough chicken. When i say it appeared to be spaghetti I mean it was actually a clump of spaghetti noodles (not traditional pad Thai noodles- wider than spaghetti)- all of it was stuck together and looked as though it was refrigerated in Tupperware overnight then served. Not to mention it smelled and tasted fishy (not like shrimp, like bad fish). The sauce was not anywhere near normal for pad Thai.
Their prices also went up in contrast to what the menu says. We brought this up to our waitress as three items had discrepancies. The chicken lo mein said $7.45 on the menu but we were charged $8.95, the Pad Thai said $10.50 on the menu but we were charged $11.50, and the edamame said $3.95 on the menu but we were charged $4.95. The waitress essentially said "sorry, the prices changed but our menu is so big we haven't had time to fix it. Our takeout menus are right though." I get that they have a large menu but it's not fair to charge a higher price than what it on the menu without warning. Plus we were dining in so the takeout menu didn't matter. She didn't offer to fix the pricing.
Until the pandemic is over, I 100% do not recommend eating here. This is one of our favorite places in the area but that has been completely ruined. Even after the pandemic ends (if it ever ends), I'd confirm pricing and make sure you actually get what you asked for.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
