Food: I ordered the Devil's Wok which was a large portion of noodles, veggies and well cooked chunks of meat. It could use a bit more spice, but it's about what I'd expect from a French restaurant! My boyfriend got the speciality fish. It was a lightly baked fish (not fried or even grilled), parts of which may have been slightly undercooked. However, it was extremely delicious.
Venue: This is one of many similar restaurants on the beach. The wait staff mostly spoke English which is always helpful when traveling and they were far more accommodating than Le Galet just a hundred yards down or so which was incredibly rude and turned us away. It was a hot day when we were there and I wish we had our suits so we could've laid out on the chairs!
These places on the beach are a dime a dozen so I'd review the menus and base your decision off of that as they vary quite a bit in offerings and price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 13, 2017
Surprisingly good given the location (right on the beach). It's obviously catered towards tourists, but the prices are actually reasonable and the food is pretty good.
Ordered the shrimp wok, which is essentially an Asian stir fry. They were actually really generous with the shrimp. It had a pretty nice flavor too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 2928871425Jul 22, 2018
Went here on a Friday during MDW. It's a lot less crowded than during the summer I assume. I paid under 20 Euro for a lounge chair right on the beach/water. I was tempted to order a drink, but decided to just have a glass of water. Don't forget to bring your own towel as that adds to the cost. They were nice here and the free wifi was clutch. And as always, you can't beat the beautiful view of the sea.

We came in October so it was pretty empty which was great for us since we got seats right near the water. We had them serve breakfast at the lounge chairs. To rent a lounge chair it's 16€ and a towel was 4€, and to have an umbrella was more. Pretty pricey but worth it for the view and atmosphere, and because it's not very comfortable to lay on rocks.
BREAKFAST
English breakfast (3.5 stars): good amount of food and not bad tasting either. Plated nicely. Eggs were good, beans not bad, croissant wonderful of course. I got hot chocolate and it hit the spot.
Out of the 3 beach clubs toward the end of the promenade this one looked the best and we're glad we chose it.
I could have lounged here all day.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - E E.San Francisco, CA4991497786Dec 3, 2013
I have gone out salsa dancing all over the world but this place is one of my favorites. What can be better than dancing outside on the beach in Nice with gorgeous sunsets in the distance and the warm summer breeze passing through. Since this place is right on the beach, there are always crowds up above on the promenade stopping by.
The deck itself is small but never gets obnoxiously crowded and while the crowds can be hit or miss in terms of fun dance partners, it is always worth a visit.
Did I mention this place is free?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kiah L.Manhattan, NY063Jul 26, 2019
Absolutely horrific experience, I ordered a pizza which came with an insect BAKED into it, meaning it didn't simply fly over and randomly die in my food, it came out of the kitchen that way.
The staff simply took the pizza away and asked if I wanted another which I obviously declined.
I asked for he check and they had the nerve to charge me for said insect infested pizza!
I asked for the manager who looked as if he couldn't care less, and said "ok it's fine" and walked off in the middle of the conversation.
Avoid this place at all costs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gaetano S.Red Bank, NJ4972060Mar 27, 2017
Ok so it depends on what you are looking for. It also depends on what you consider a "great view". My opinion of a "great view" is one that feels unique whether it's man made or natural beauty. The view Lido...Plage provides is simple, you are sitting in the sand facing the Mediterranean. I believe the value of sitting at a table on the beach is very cool, but 90% of the view is water so it depends on if you like that. I feel like if I didn't know any better, the view felt like the Jersey Shore. LARGE QUANTITIES OF WATER...that's it.
My wife loved it, but the beach is her serenity. We discussed the atmosphere afterwards and she was in heaven because of the sounds provided by the ocean along with the sea breeze and the sand. I totally get it, but it's just not my cup of tea.
One thing Talia and I could agree on was that the food was just average. This is the core behind my 3 Stars. The truffle spaghetti appetizer was awesome, but I almost feel like truffle can give any food an undeserving edge. That's like saying a place had great pizza, but you smothered it in ranch dressing (duh - how could it not taste good?).
If you're into sitting at the beach for food outside, here is your place - it's a beautiful atmosphere and in warm weather will feel great, but there's 3 or 4 of them on the English Promenade (Promenade de Anglais) so maybe you can find one with better quality food. Fairly priced though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hope C.Philadelphia, PA1189101440Apr 25, 2014
Lido Plage refers both to the section of the Nice beach AND the restaurant/bar situated on this rocky plot of land. Like all the beaches in Nice, there is no sand, only amazing white and grey rocks of varying sizes - picturesque, curious, and utterly painful to walk on barefoot! Aside from the unchanging elements of Mother Nature, however, this restaurant/bar/dance club is an absolute delight.
Grab a chair, chaise or lounger and order a drink. Sip languidly while absorbing the gorgeous blue ocean, the azure sky and the buzz of the Riviera. Somehow, here, you feel sheltered from the ugliness of the real world and part of something tranquil and beautiful. I overheard multiple conversations around me during the hours we spent here between tourists who were trying to squeeze in a few magic moments at Lido Plage before heading to the airport and back to reality. All parties bemoaned the injustice of having to cut short their holidays. It's just that type of place.
Service is hit-or-miss depending on your server, and be sure to flag down someone in order to pay. Being handed the bill (or being asked for a second round unprompted) appears not to be customary in many places down here. The emphasis is on laissez-faire. I suppose that's both good and bad. Take it for what it's worth, sit back and drift off into a reverie. That's what the best voyeurism is about.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Wayne H.London, United Kingdom396676475Nov 20, 2011
Beachfront dining property right underneath the Avenue Anglais carriageway. Who knew.
The manager ran the entire show and seems to be friendly to both locals and visitors alike. Diners are seated on the patio level while guests stopping for drinks can opt for the recliners out on the beach.
The frito misto, an often frowned-upon dish known for employing near-expired seafood bits, was surprisingly delicious and hearty. Whole fillets of salmon and cod laid on a bed of calamari, none of which tasted previously frozen to me. The medium-rare entrecote (ribeye) was slightly over done, had more than its fair share of stringy tendons but in all not too problematic.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
