This restaurant is probably my favorite place ever.

I came here last year on a trip while visiting Montreal. The restaurant was highly recommended on Yelp so I decided to check it out.

Indoor ambience is very homey French bistro. We sat by the windows and it had a good view of the streets. The music was also amazing, as a techno / house fan, I loved their music - so much that I asked them for the playlist.

The food was AMAZING. For appetizer, we got a fish appetizer, beautiful presentation and very yummy.

For the entree, I got the brisket mac and cheese remix. WOW. I have no words because it was so good I'm speechless. This is a must get.

We got a bread pudding for dessert and that was also delicious. It was so warm and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness.

I can't recommend this place enough. I still think about the brisket mac and cheese...

I traveled with my mom to Quebec in the summer last year and looked up for restaurants to meet up with my long-time-no-see high school friend living in Canada. Le Robin Square caught me with high reviews for good food, warm ambiance, and friendly services. The restaurant is owned and run by a family so you will have a warm welcome feeling when dining here as well. The food is very professionally presented and served. Portions are small and a little pricey. A nice dining experience!

      Highlights of the night:
      1. Foie gras Croque Monsieur Style
      2. Poached Cod
      3. An appetizer with cheese

(Visited 12/17/2019.) While looking around for some places to eat I ran into this one that had some spectacular reviews and even better pictures so I needed to experience it for myself! Here's how it went...

Atmosphere/Appearance: Right outside of the busy section of downtown is this gem. Big windows let in a lot of natural light, but too bad that it's a snowy, gloomy, cold night. Street parking is available since this place does not have its on parking lot. Inside is very nice, chic and intimate. The lighting is low, floors are wood, the music is soft and the restaurant isn't too big which adds to those intimate vibes.

Service: Reservations are recommended because you'll be waiting if you don't have one. This place is very popular. Juan took excellent care of us. He ran the bar, served people and was cleaning up tables all at the same time.

Food: The plating here is so freaking elegant. The food looks like art and you ALMOST feel bad for eating it. Lol. I started off with the Lamb Meatballs From Lochette Farm. It's a very simple dish consisting of the lamb, tomatoes, bocconcini and a small English muffin. They were so delectable, savory, hot and good. You get an order of 3 "normal-sized" meatballs submerged in the sauce with some delicious cheese as well. With every dinner you get complimentary bread which is also fantastic. This place just can't go wrong! Lol. For my entreé I went with The Ultimate Experience. Sounds crazy right? It's actually a huge piece of Nagano pork belly, celery root, pears, apricot in a maple sauce. It was good, but the sweet pureé with the savory meat and other flavors made for an odd flavor combination that I didn't expect. It was still good, but with unexpected flavors.

Value: (All prices in $CAD.) This place isn't cheap, but it's not like, "I can only do this once in a lifetime expensive" either. Lol. The meatballs were $19.00 and my pork belly was $34.00. The food is absolutely worth it because the quality is there.

In conclusion I really enjoyed myself here. It's not an everyday sort of restaurant for me because the menu is extremely limited (not a bad thing), but I can certainly see myself revisiting for another meal.

This place is truly one of a kind!!

The ambience of the place is very elegant and classy while the waiter was always attentive. I came here with my boyfriend for lunch and this place was not so full which I liked. We let the waiter know it was our first time there and asked for some recommendations for wines and also for food.

What we ordered: I got the Christmas ham dish even though I'm not that huge of a ham fan. I was pleasantly surprised with this dish as it was packed with flavors. The ham was cooked perfectly with the pasta and cheese making it a perfect match for my tastebuds! Though the dish looked super small at first, after getting towards the end of the dish you start getting a bit full and content! My boyfriend also got the fish of the day which was salmon with a freshly delicious made salad placed on top with grilled bread on the side. He really enjoyed his dish and also said it was quite filling but he liked the flavor of my mac n cheese the most!

We would most definitely come here again if we're ever back and hopefully next time we can enjoy their dinner menu! Really loved this cute family owned establishment!

      Service: 5/5

I'll just settle and give Robin Square my 5 star rating. The waitstaff were so friendly when we walked in, introducing the restaurant as a family business. The menu is short and sweet; looked very honed and well-balanced.

We got the beef brisket mac & cheese and the pork belly (ultimate experience). The mac & cheese was delicious, using fresh pasta and a very unique cheese to give the dish some zing. The beef brisket was all right; nothing too special with that. The pork belly was AMAZING, very fatty and melted in my mouth. The parsnips and the sauce around it blended into the pork belly perfectly. The whole dish was incredibly well done, not just the meat part.

At a table next to us, we saw a waiter treating another customer to a free drink for her birthday. All around, the restaurant truly seems like a family business, and has some amazing food.

To dine here is to experience the richness that Montreal has to offer.

Located in Old Montreal, this is the perfect restaurant when you are visiting the city. If you are doing a bit of research, please make a reservation as this is a popular spot. My research advised me to get the mac and cheese w/ ham...oh it was so good. However, there were a ton of wow sounds from nearby customers. Everything looks so good so that you can't really go wrong here. Now back to the mac and cheese/ ham. This is the new standard that I evaluate all future mac and cheese. It has raised the bar so high that I was completely blown away. This is the gold standard. The mac and cheese was very rich, but the flavor was amazing. This is a must try if you are a fan of mac and cheese.

One of the best dinners I've had by far! It was almost perfect!!!

We didn't know to make reservations as we were just two of us walking in, so make sure you RSVP! This place gets packed in no time!

It was 9pm by the time we walked there from our hotel. The hostess was so nice and friendly. Just so happens that someone cancelled their reservation and we got the table right next to the open concept kitchen. We got to watch the head chefs cook all night and the servers plating all the food.

Ps. The head chef is a beautiful lady who, you can just tell, she loves and has a true passion for cooking. You'll sneak peek at her and she will probably be singing or laughing or making sounds while she's cooking. :)

We ordered the Mac and cheese with ham and the ultimate experience (pork belly). Both are delicious and I would definitely go back again for them. Not too salty and the flavors were just right.

The Mac and cheese was served on a skillet and topped off with a layer of cheese and ham with sauce. They'd ask you if you want hot sauce with that, and I wish I had said yes because it might have enhanced the flavors a little. I just love that they put just enough fresh pepper cracked on top of the macaroni (it's actually rigatoni)

The ultimate experience was this beautiful piece of pork belly on top of a sauce and some apricot jam on the side. The pork was crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Yum yum yum

I'd like to go again next time I come back to Montreal to have their gnocci with cheese curds on top and their steak as it looked sooooo good on other people's tables.

      The ultimate experience- pork belly
Mac and cheese with ham - YUM!

This was our first food stop on our Montréal trip and we were not disappointed! The restaurant has a very elegant classy vibe and their decor is so cute!

Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. We got the burrata to start, as we wanted something more refreshing since it was so hot out. What a beaut! I'm so used to having burrata served with tomato's and pesto that I was so in awe when this dish as served to us. And it was delicious too.

For the main course, we got the Ultimate Experience (pork belly) and the Mac n Cheese remix with brisket. The pork belly was so good and melt in your mouth. The Mac n Cheese was probably the best I've ever had, but in comparison, I liked it less than the pork belly. It wasn't too cheesy, so if you're someone who likes your Mac n cheese smothered in cheese, this dish will probably be disappointing to you. However, I liked that there wasn't that much cheese on it. One thing I disliked about the Mac n cheese is that there was big salt flakes on it and it felt strange every time I bit the salt- kinda like I had eaten sand. It definitely ruined the experience for me a little bit.

The portions are quite generous which is always good. I ended up not being able to finish the Mac n cheese because there was so much food.

Overall, good food, good service. It's location is also in a very touristy part of town so very convenient if you're visiting!

Came here to celebrate my direct report's promotion (not being from montreal, I wasn't sure what restaurant to pick)

we had reservations and were seated right away.

i loved how attentive the server was, and literally answered every question we had.

we stared with the calamari to share and then we all ended up getting the same dinner - gnocchi poutine.

the calamari was so fresh and delicious, I could have gone for a second serving.

now onto the poutine - i was super interested in figuring out what this could transpire to be, i have to say it was one of the best meals i've ever had.

not only would i come back here - but literally the two dishes i had were so good, i'd want to try more!

I really want to eat at Le Robin Square but I just cannot make myself and my travel mate to wait for 2 hours?! Some advanced planning we ended up coming here just when the door opened and got seated right away.

The restaurant has a nice and homey feel. Just like eating at some one house. The menu is limited in selection which I love.

Foie Gras Mi-Cuit and Dried Duck Magret ($25) - White Port Wine Foie Gras from Rougie, Gin and Blueberry Magret, Citrus Marmelade, Ginger Spiced Bread

Beet Salad ($18) - Red and yellow beets, Peningouin Cheese, Oro Nobil White Balsamic, Abbae Olive Oil, White Truffle Oil, Caramelized Walnuts

Calamari Inspired by my Friend Jonathan Lanciault ($40) - Calamari Cooked Sous-Vide 5 hour, saffron and tarrragon risotto, lobster mushrooms, smoked chorizo, fava beans, fresh tomatoes, shredded parmesan, Pont Blanc Cheese Mousse, fried plantains and pumpernickel bread

The Ultimate Experience ($34) - Brined, smoked and braised Nagano Pork Belly, Truffle Celery-Root Puree, Pear and Apricot Jam and Wine and Maple Syrup Albufera

A lot of interesting elements in all the dish we ordered. Most of them was a hit. I am though so so with Sous-Vide Calamari when compared to the sides which were so good on the same plate. And at $40?

At this price point, I do have my doubts for a repeat visit. But it is at least worth a try as I do understand a lot of attention and time and prep work was used to prepare every single dish.
