This place is pretty hidden, but once you get to the office the whole environment changes. The ambiance is inviting and relaxing and only gets better as you go in more. The staff is very friendly and speak softly while in the office. We did a couples massage and we both had great masseuses. Very powerful but gentle hands, that worked out all my knots and kinks within the hour. It was perhaps the best massage I have ever had!!
Afterward, we were served dinner in a private dining room. Pretty romantic and had a chance to exchange experience with my partner about the massages. The dinner came in the form of a bento box. The food there was actually pretty good and the tea helped me relax even more.
Overall, the service here was outstanding and would highly recommend coming to this place for the experience and also the massage!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I was terribly late for my check in but the staff graciously welcomed me in. (FYI: LAKA is located on the SECOND FLOOR of the business complex --I parked at the Ross across the street because I was afraid I wouldn't find parking.)
[MASSAGE SERVICE]
I came in for an express massage and it's the best I've received yet. Maiko was very detailed in her work, which I appreciated. She was caring enough to ask if the pressure was okay and tailored to my stubborn knots.
[OVERALL]
I love how Laka cares for all the little things. Laka is careful to adhere to your comfort, needs and preferences.
[GENERAL VIBE]
The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Everything is clean, simple yet sophisticated
[PRICE POINT]
The express massage is under $60 and is quite affordable, cheap even! I highly encourage you to give this place a try. I will definitely be back!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

We love going to the spa, but i have a coflict with being pretty picky on how much goes on. I want the experience to be equal parts relaxation or zen bliss, as well as targeted stress relief tension busting on those muscles. Nothing is worse than getting amped up for a great spa day and its basically an expensive lotion application. Not so here!
My husband and i got sudden work promotions and had to plan a last minute move across the country. We were seriously stresed and both of us hold our tension in our backs so we weren't sleeping well. After getting a tip from a yelp elite friend to go here, we were able to get in for a couples treatment that very weekend.
The location is not what you might think of when you imagine spa retreat, but once you get inside it really is an oasis. The intake room is cozy and soft, the changing room is more of a closet but it does the job, and the pre treatment room has great aromatherapy and oversized plush seating.
We opted for the package with a 60 minute massage and 60 minute facial and added aromatherapy treatment and ampule treatment. Our therapists were seriously talented, mine was easily the best spa massage ive had in Hawaii. The facials were even better, with amazing feeling and smelling products with copious steam.
After the treatment we were moved to an eating area where we were treated to water and tea along with housemade pineapple gelato. I marveled to my husband about how relaxed i felt, and about how radiant his skin looked. Prices were worth it for the quality of the treatment, i think all together our day ran us about $500.
Only downside to this experience was that we anticipated we would get aromatherapy in the massage but they forgot it. The front desk team actually told us the therapists forgot it and so they didnt charge us for it. Oh well. I just wish I had found this place sooner, I would have loved to have added this as my monthly standing appointment for recharge and self care.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2018
I've been having major feet problems for the past couple of days. I secretly think it's my body of telling me to EXERCISE. But I try to ignore it and see if I can solve it myself.
I actually looked up Laka a while ago. I was having feet problems last year too. They have great reviews so when my family asked what I wanted for Christmas I said I wanted Laka gift certificates. My sister bought one for me for a facial and my mom bought me one for a foot reflexology.
I tried to get a facial from Laka a while ago. But I couldn't make it. Thing to note: when you make an appointment at Laka, you need to give them your card info or your gift certificate number. Anyway, so when I made my facial appointment, I gave them my gift card number. I called them and said that I couldn't make it in time because I was stuck in traffic. I don't know what was going on but it was back to back traffic on Kalanianaole Hwy. Then they told me that because I did a same day cancellation, they would take out 50% of my gift certificate. I thought that was bogus. No one even told me about that policy when I made the reservation. I was kind of ticked off about the whole situation but then I still had my foot reflexology certificate and my darn feet were killing me.
So I decide to give them a try. They told me when I made my appointment about the cancellation policy. I wished they told me that about my other appointment. When I went there, everyone was very welcoming and nice. I had a 30 minute foot reflexology session. It was more like a 30 minute massage. It was relaxing and I think I even dozed off a few times. When I left my feet were still a little sore but not as much.
Overall great service when you're in there but just be careful of their cancellation policy.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

You'd never know this place is right off of Ward. It's a hidden gem. You definitely need an appointment and there are only a few parking spots in their little parking lot. I suggest arriving a few minutes early in case you need to park across the street and make your way across the Ward Ave traffic. They take groups and it's actually great if a bunch of friends go together. If you get done around the same time you can relax together in their private rooms and enjoy some tea at the end of your treatment.
I don't spend enough time pampering myself so was grateful for that some friends came into town and wanted to go to the spa. It's tough to schedule at the last minute (only a few days prior) but we were lucky to find a time to fit four of us all in at the same time. Some of us got massages and I took the facial.
It was relaxing and my skin felt nice. Although I have a regular facial routine at home, I loved how they used a laser to kill the bacteria under my skin and all of my acne prone areas cleared up.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

I knew, just from recommendations from friends and Yelp reviews that I was going to have a good experience at LAKA. However, my expectations were exceeded by the ambiance, great customer service, food, amenities and overall experience. My husband gave me a Visa gift card to use especially for a spa day so I chose LAKA. I bet he didn't know I would have such a divine experience.
Parking was a bit tough. There are a few stalls, which are very tight and also metered street parking. The spa is tucked away on the 2nd floor. If you're near Painting with a Twist, you're in the right place. As you enter the spa, it oozes with relaxation. It was nice and quiet and the aroma was very calming. Their waiting area had really comfortable couches and chairs and the space was pretty large compared to most other spas.
I was greeted as soon as I entered. While signing paperwork, water or tea was offered to me and I was then brought into a private dining room to enjoy my spa meal. (The spa meal doesn't come standard; it's something you have to order). There are two types of meals-Japanese and American. I opted for the Japanese meal and it came with and variety of vegetables, rice and mochiko chicken. It was very tasty and I underestimated it because I was stuffed when I got done. While I was having lunch, the staff checked in on me a couple of times to see if I wanted more water/tea. At the end of the meal, they served their signature ice cream to me. The portion was small but it was perfect after having that meal.
After my lunch, Jen gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. She was tiny in stature but strong as heck. Jen made sure to check with me every now and then to make sure the pressure was OK. She was also very sweet and didn't yap during the massage, which I definitely appreciated. After my massage, I waited in the same room for Amy, who gave me the best facial I've received. She was also very sweet and helpful with skin tips after reviewing my skin. My face felt brand-spankin' new after she was done.
After my services, I relaxed in the waiting area and then went to enjoy a nice warm shower in one of their private restrooms. They have soap, shampoo, conditioner and scrubbies available. In the locker room (separate) they have lockers, lotion, deodorant, cotton swabs and a few other goodies.
I think everyone should treat themselves once in a while and this would definitely be the place to do it. They not only treat you like royalty, but their facilities make for an even better experience. If you sign up for their rewards program, you'll get notifications for specials and you can earn points for spa credits. Go ahead, give yourself some love!Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 20Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2019
My friend picked this spa hidden on the second floor in Honolulu for massage and facial services for her bachelorette. Joanne, the spa manager, was cordial and attentive throughout the booking and follow up process.
I've received many massages and facials in the past, and I have to say, they do spa well here. The masseuse focused on my critical areas. Though not the best massage I've had, it was relaxing. What I like most was the transition to the facial service without having to move to a different location. How many times do we get a wonderful massage and then have to immediately get up? I also appreciate the tatami room. It was tranquil and the water, hot tea and ice cream after the massage and facial was perfection!
They are strict about mobile phone use to create a peaceful environment for their clients. The locker room has useful amenities for the spa day. Like I said initially, they do spa well here!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

I don't know what type of magic this spa uses, but my skin looks amazing and if the reviews don't convince you the results will. My boyfriend booked me a surprise facial since I have struggled with hormonal acne all my life, I just moved here from Utah and living in a dry climate to a humid one my skin is trying to adjust.
He booked the Laka signature facial which was 60 mins of exfoliation, massage, skin mask and extractions. We arrived a bit early but they put us in a private waiting lounge with big and comfy recliner chairs, and I was served tea and water. When they took me back my boyfriend had a nice, hour long nap while waiting.
Amy was my esthetician, the facial was so relaxing, her face and shoulder massage was amazing, and the products she used must of worked because when I walked out to greet my boyfriend his jaw literally fell on the ground, he said I looked completely different, this is a guy who doesn't even notice when I cut my hair, he couldn't believe how different my skin looked. When I finally looked in the mirror he was right, my huge pores basically disappeared, it was like I had a natural filter on my face!
My skin has never looked better and I will absolutely be coming back as soon as I can. The service and treatment here is worth every penny.Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 26Oh no 0 - 548267Apr 24, 2019
This place is IMMACULATE! I've been twice only for the Foot Reflexology, & have & would recommend this place. The service is friendly & extremely attentive.
I've become a believer in Foot Reflexology; both times the practitioner knew about physical problems I was having, without me saying anything.
This is not just a spa for pampering yourself, I think it also has medical benefits.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Though I recognize the hardships, I am disappointed to still be waiting for my $100 refund for a gift certificate. I followed all required procedures and even received a confirmation response via email (see photo) and yet I am still waiting. Such a shame as it suggests mismanagement.
