The food and service were amazing. A little tight for table spacing.
Started with the torilla soup. Very light but fresh.
Then the goat cheese strawberry salad with walnuts. Great dish - large. Perfect to split.
Filet and enchiladas were the main. Filet went to medium not medium rare. Enchiladas were light not too much spice. Pozole was amazing in it. Beans - normal perfect needed a little salt.
Flan was light creamy and fresh berries and cinnamon.
Outstanding.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 18, 20241 check-in
The avocado toast!
Yummy food and wonderful service. We have a nice seat by the fountain. I wish I could comeback but it's a long way.
Also, stay at the La Fonda hotel. It's a good value and we are right in the center of town.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sara W.Charlottesville, VA8724Mar 12, 2024
Jesús Cristo! I ate it *all*- the which I never do. Of note: this is the room service variant; I am staying in the hotel proper. I currently find myself strewn across my bed in some sort of gastric delirium, penning this review. How they expect me to ambulate enough to visit any of the lovely shops spoking out on all sides down there, I truly don't know. Still, though: I regret nothing.
And now- I nap.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2024
We chose this location specifically for the decor and aesthetics. Its a lively kind of space. Lighting is amazing and the food was great. Not picture was the bread charcuterie, it came with several types of bread and butter and it was delicious. My favorites for the evening were the crab cakes, bread bowl appetizer, pork shoulder and the prime rib. Staff were super attentive, constantly refilling waters and asking if we needed plates to be taken away. A little too often for our personal liking, felt almost like we were being rushed.

After wandering around downtown Santa Fe, we decided to do an early dinner at La Plazuela in Hotel La Fonda, right off the square.
We were seated quickly and greeted by our server Judith who was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed some of the specialty cocktails and ordered the table side guacamole, very tasty. We moved on to entrees, including green chili rellenos, tortilla soup and shredded chicken enchiladas. All were very good.
The restaurant was a historic design with colorful stained glass, tasteful decor and traditional soft background music.
Overall an outstanding experience.
Definitely a repeater for us on our next visit to Santa Fe!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mar 7, 2024
Honestly, really ok. For a place centered in the heart of Santa Fe, even though labeled as "non traditional" La Plazeula is widely expensive for highly quality mid-tasting food. Being raised in NM I feel a bit let down. Specifically the biggest let down was the wait staff. Rarely checked up on, had to flag them down (literally walk across the restaurant) to get the check, etc. I, admittedly also feel a bit duped after the weight stass suggesting the filet enchilada. In particular, for a restaurant of such high esteem, one would think that this meal would mean incorporating a filet and green chile enchilada. Instead, it was essentially ordering an order of enchilada, and filet, and they save you a plate by putting the steak on top. Superp interior is all I really think this place has going for it, much much better food in Santa Fe and surrounding areas.

Had high hopes for this restaurant, but it fell well short. The Chilean seabass was fried but somehow not well crusted nor seasoned, and the brussel sprouts were unseasoned too. The green chile risotto was well done though.
My wife's scallop dish was very disappointing. The scallops were done well, but the rice was supposed to have mascarpone red chili sauce with watermelon beurre blanc, none of which seemed to make it on the plate. Her carrots and asparagus appeared to be steamed, with no seasoning added.
Honestly, a poor effort for a $60 per plate.
To cut to the chase, the service is average, the ambiance is very nice, and the food falls short.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2023
Nice restaurant--- depending where you sit. We sat right next to the fountain, which was soothing and felt like we were dining outside. But they also have "chump" tables around the perimeter. In a dark walkway, they feel like that card tables put outside the dining room for the uninvited cousin's kids.
First, the "ARTISANAL BREAD BOARD" was very bland. They should spell it "artisanal bread BORED". Get it? I think I heard a dad laugh from the table near the elevator. The blue corn muffins weren't bad. ($4/person)
The TABLESIDE GUACAMOLE was good but pricey. I LOVED how you get to pick the ingredients like you're at Chipotle. Extra cilantro, light jalapenos. ($21)
The LIME COCONUT SOUP (Coconut Milk, Lime, Shredded Chicken, Micro Cilantro, Chile Oil) ($13) and SPIKED CUCUMBER LEMONADE ($15) were both excellent. The seasonal PINA COLADA cake was good.
The STRAWBERRY GOAT CHEESE SALAD is my favorite salad anywhere. The combination of bitter organic Arugula, sweet Strawberries, savory Goat Cheese, and sour Apple Vinaigrette, with Candied Walnuts with Balsamic Reduction was perfect with a little cracked pepper. ($19)
The service was excellent, as one would expect from a place that sells $21 guacamole. I highly recommend reservations- but if you have to wait, La Fonda has a great lounge steps away while you wait for your text.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 15317139Feb 18, 2024Updated review
Haven't been back to Santa Fe for 9 years, but knew we had to go to La Plazuela at La Fonda, the hotel on the square. Had lunch here twice in a week end! First time we shared chili rellenos, which came with pork pozole, black beans and guacamole. Yummy! And we both had plenty to eat. Today I had a bowl of that pork pozole (it isn't on the menu, you have to ask) it was so good! Husband had chicken tortilla soup, which he loved, and we shared a caesar, which was ok. The setting is so lovely, and service always excellent!

Dinner was delicious Southwest, huge portions. 2 chile rellenos AND black beans, AND pork posole. All yummy. 2 tamales with the same accompaniments. We also ordered salads, and our friend ordered the guacamole prepared tableside, enough for 4-6 people! That was our downfall. Good service except that the salads were oddly brought before the guac.
Lunch was the buffet, not exciting, but for not much time very good.
Breakfast was excellent, fruit plate huge, blue corn and pinon pancakes to die for (and huge).
All in all, really good hotel food, and if you share meals, which you easily could (we should have), very affordable. And the setting is gorgeous! - Nov 12, 2023
I had a solo birthday dinner here and they took great care of me. They started by giving me a free glass of sparkling wine. A nice touch.
I started with the STRAWBERRY GOAT CHEESE SALAD: Organic Arugula | Strawberries | Goat Cheese | Apple Vinaigrette | Candied Walnuts
Balsamic Reduction. I really enjoyed this. All my favorite toppings and peppery arugula. Nice dressing but not too much.
For my entree, I had the PORK SHANK OSSO BUCO: Tomatillo-Pomegranate Relish | Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. This was really tender and pulled off the bone easily. The meat was very tasty. Liked all the toppings and sides with it.
For dessert, I had a pina colada cake which they also comped for my birthday. The cake was a little dry but I loved the topping, almost like a pudding on top with whipped cream.
I had very good service and appreciated the birthday sparkling wine and dessert. The dining room is really pretty inside the La Fonda Hotel.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
