Went on a slow night and service was terribly slow, food was mediocre at best, sushi rolls are 98% rice and 2% filling. Very bland tasting. Restaurant seemed nice at first glance, but then once you took a second look lights were out, tables and bottles are sticky, and there was a smell of disinfect cleaner just in the air. Took over 10 mins just to get the check to leave felt like we were being held hostage after the horrible food. 0/10 will never go again.

Ordered food to go. Ordered the shrimp noodles. It is supposed to come with soup and salad per menu. Did not get either. Very small portions for the price. Not worth it. There are plenty of other places in Tupelo that charge less and give decent portions.

Love the food and the service! Staff is very friendly! Me and my husband go at least once a week!

The servers and workers seemed kind of disorganized and all over the place, even though there were very few people in the restaurant. They were nice, though--I feel like the problem was with management. Food was okay, but my mom and I ordered our appetizer and mains at the same time because we had been waiting a while and had already decided, and that was interpreted as wanting everything out at the same time. It was a little annoying waiting as long as we did for edamame.
Another minor complaint: while I enjoyed my roll, it was slightly too big to comfortably eat a piece in one bite. I find that's often a problem with sushi rolls that have something on top, though. The tuna salad-like consistency of the fish in the spicy crawfish roll was also a little strange.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rhondie B.Baldwyn, MS01May 23, 2020
The servers and cooks are friendly and on top of things. They make sure your food is as you want and taste good. My family and i love going there. I would take anybody there to eat.

This is my third time here...
I have asked to have special veggie roll and they were very nice and compliant to it.
However the service in general could use some speed. My fourth time the rolls were not so good. They have changed the servers, but the speed continues to be lacking. Once in town will try a different one next time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim W.Sarasota, FL4182Sep 2, 2013
The good: They offer some yummy authentic Asian appetizers that are not offered at other Japanese restaurants at Tupelo. The jellyfish salad was among the best I've had anywhere. Real nice spicy flavor. The baby octopus, conch salad, and beef sashimi were all quite good.
The bad: If the rice is your favorite part of a hand roll, then you're in luck. Because each roll is chock full of it. Unfortunately, I happen to like fish more than rice.
The ugly: The size of the sashimi was absolutely unacceptable. Each piece (3 pieces for $4.50) is less than half the size of a sugar packet. (I've posted a picture on the review .) I don't know if they ran out of fish this night and they're trying to ration portions to fill the orders but this is by far the smallest portion of sashimi at any restaurant.
I did not have the hibachi so this review is based only on the sushi and appetizers. One star for the sushi and 4 for the appetizers.
All the other reviews here were written in 3 years ago and it appears complacency has set in. And with two other restaurants in Tupelo that serve quality sushi there is no reason to eat subpar sushi here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick K.Corinth, MS5945Sep 5, 2010
My wife and I always love coming here. Great hibachi style Japanese restaurant. My wife and I usually get sushi when it's just us, but when we come in groups, you can't beat the hibachi show. Very fun atmosphere, but like a previous reviewer said, the service is hit and miss. I guess it depends on if you get an American server - they tend to be more prominent for their tables.
Surf and Turf and the Curly Sue are probably my favorite sushi rolls here. You won't be disappointed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristen C.Lutz, FL18413860Aug 14, 2015
The two stars is for the food and the food only. The service was absolutely horrible. We came at lunch time. No one greeted us. One little girl was waiting tables and took our drink order then waited another fifteen minutes to get our food order. My food came out in about ten minutes but my moms food didn't come out for another forty five minutes. I had completely finished my meal for twenty or so minutes before her food was ready. The server didn't seem to care and seemed preoccupied with the one other table in the restaurant that had customers. The sushi was good but the service was so bad I dont think I'll be back. I can find good sushi at many places

This is one of the absolute worst hibachi restaurants I have ever been in. The rolls were ok but our server wrote the number down wrong and it took another 15 minutes to get the right one. We ordered 2 hibachi veggie meals also and we get it with cold temperature shrimp on the side. The hostess said they were just cooked until I insisted she feel one and asked her if she would eat that. They offered to reheat our small, already rubbery shrimp. I declined. The hibachi was greasy and our zucchini was still hard like it wasn't cooked all the way through.
