Ko's Garden

We have eaten here regularly for years, and they are our favorite. This is a small family owned restaurant with consistently good food, service, portion sizes and quality. The dining room, kitchen and bathrooms are always clean and rarely is there a wait to be seated. Christine goes out of her way to make sure everyone's needs are met.

Our favorite dishes include Mongolian Chicken, Green Pepper Steak, Vegetable Lo-Mein, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. We have kids ranging from 28 down to 4, and they all love the food here, even the picky 4 year old who LOVES the egg drop soup!

The owners are cousins to the people who owned Ko's Golden Gate in Wauseon years ago, and many of their recipes are the same as the old China Gate restaurant that was by Southwyck.

If you're in the mood for Chinese, stop in or order take out. You won't be disappointed!

Meh food. Way too much sauce on it. Over priced for alright food. Also on the phone when placing an order I said white rice and confirmed it after the order. When we picked the food up we never got the white rice.

Food was okay. The locals like it, I hear. Lived in SF Bay Area for 40 years. Don't think we'll find any Asian restaurants in the Midwest that will compare.

Always clean inside and consistently good food. Love the spicy Mongolian chicken! They have great lunch combos but you only get the free soup if you eat in (not to go).

Great service and their food is made with love! Amazing food! Schezuan sauce was awesomeness and the lunch serving was perfect! Get you some!

Good is always the best in town! Service is fast portions are great the egg rolls are amazing and the staff is always pleasant and remembers frequent customers

I've always had consistently great food but I must say the Hot & Sour Soup is EXCEPTIONAL!!! Jo's should win an award for it! I always get the large container & sometimes even 2!!! Other family favs include sweet & sour chicken Szechuan Chicken Mongolian Beef & pork Egg Rolls

I visited Ko's many many years ago when we first moved to Swanton, something about that visit kept me from going back all these years (atleast 15) however with covid I decided to give it another try a month or so ago.
Upon walking in to pick up my order the lady who greeted me (if you can even call it a greeting) was somewhat cold almost being rude. I placed my order which I got mongolian beef, I was ok with the price however after getting it home and starting to plate it with the rice I was shocked at the amount of mongolian beef inside the box and not in a good way. I would say the box which was a small box was only halfway full at best!
Now onto the taste of said food I actually really enjoyed the flavor and my daughter also enjoyed her food. I don't know if I will ever go back as I feel they ripped me off. Maybe once dining room is open again because atleast then I can bring attention to the situation right then and there.
So as for taste of food it was good however that's not all that matters so I will leave it at that.

We ordered carryout and the food was ready right when they said it would be and it was scortching hot. The person who brought the order out and the person who rang out the order were both very friendly. Now, on to the important part ... the food!! The garden beef was delicious ... lots of super tender beef, plenty of veggies, and a lot of a very savory, delicious sauce. I'd definitely recommend this dish! The empress chicken was phenomenal! The white meat chicken was lightly breaded and perfectly fried so it wasn't the least bit greasy, there were lots of pea pods, bamboo shoots, and onions, and the brown sauce was so savory and delicious. This will be my go to from Ko's for sure! The last dish we had was the Mongolian beef and it left a bit to be desired. The beef was extremely good ... tender, plentiful, and seasoned well, but there were hardly any onions, green or white, and no sauce to speak of at all. It was served on top of thin rice noodles that were good, but with no sauce, they added nothing to the dish. We won't likely order the Mongolian beef again. I wish I had taken photos to go with this review, but I did not... I will next time! All said, this was a great place, the food was delicious, the servings were plentiful, and the service was great.

Friendly service. Clean and quiet. Wonderful food served piping hot. Wish the pot of tea was hotter. It's only lukewarm by the time you get halfway through it. I enjoyed the Szechuan Beef and my companion liked her Mongolian Chicken. Many other items on the menu that I'm anxious to try. The other Chinese place nearby seems either unwilling or unable to reopen their dining room. So from now on it'll be Ko's if we want dine in and we'll have to flip a coin if we want carry out.
