When we're ordering, I asked for no pork dumplings for religious reasons. When they served my food, they came with a platter full of dumplings. I find this unacceptable and after some arguing I had it sent back to the kitchen. When it came time to pay, they asked for a tip. I only had 1 dollar, so I tipped 50 cents. The lady then muttered some words, and it sounded like she said 'I thought u dirty arabs had more money'. I will not be coming back. EVER.

Kobe Sushi is the UES's best value for sushi. It's fast, delicious, and affordable--AKA the takeout trifecta.
Even outside the lunchtime specials and bento boxes, the prices are a steal. At dinner time, classic rolls from a Spicy Tuna to Eel Cucumber will run you all of $6-$7.45.
And don't be suspicious of the price; the quality is great. The sushi tastes noticeably fresh and delicious and the same goes for the scrumptious housemade pork wasabi dumplings.
You will not be stuck waiting for your meal either. My orders are typically ready within 10 minutes of calling. That is Mamba like speed (sorry, not sorry for the obligatory Kobe Bryant reference). Like the Lakers from 2004 to 2016, Kobe is my reliable go-to.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jason M.New York, NY06Jan 4, 2024
Food - gross.
Restaurant itself is filthy.
Service is as bad as I've seen since Covid.
There are so many better places on the UES!
Save yourself the nightmare.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Quentin Epinette E.New York, NY01Mar 18, 2024
Atrocious service and got called the n word. overall good was not good and we got served in plastic plates. honestly really wouldn't recommend this because they are really mean and they scream at you. A lot of noise which is headache inducing and almost coma inducing

The sushi is good and affordable. Not out of this world but good enough. My favorites that I've tried are the spicy salmon crunch roll and the salmon avocado. There have been a few times when they get my order incorrect- especially when I order take out. It seems as though they have a high volume of orders and get flustered. It's a fairly small place with limited seating so better for smaller groups.

Around noon today I visited Kobe for the first time. I decided to splurge and try several different appetizers. The food overall was good. I ordered a hot sake (good but not great); nori soup (strange broth with mushrooms - didn't really like it); white tuna tataki (thin sliced tuna in vinegar served with seaweed & carrots) - tasty; softshell crab (large serving & tasty); and sashimi appetizer (about 10 thin sliced standard pieces which seemed to be fresh).
This restaurant is a small hole in the wall which looks as though it has been there for a long time. There are about 10 tables and 4 seats at the sushi bar which didn't look too comfortable. There is basically no atmosphere, but a pleasant place for a quick lunch. There was only the sushi chef and a waitress working, which was adequate for the size of the place. The waitress was friendly and very efficient. The service was very fast - in fact too fast. Everything arrived at the same time. I would have liked a little more spacing. When a dish is supposed to be hot, at this restaurant it is boiling hot. Can't complain about cold food here.
I would consider returning to try some of their rolls. The list sounds interesting. I don't, however, get to the UES too often, and there are other sushi restaurants in the area I want to try; but I don't regret checking it out. I was pretty stuffed by the time I ate all that food because the servings were definitely generous and the prices for NYC were reasonable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica D.Gainesville, VA2143Feb 12, 2023
I always get the lunch special (chicken katsu bento box), and it's the perfect amount and super affordable.

The sushi at Kobe is consistently good. From the bento box to rolls, it's a favorite neighborhood spot.

I've ordered regular rolls here before for lunch. This time I ordered the Chirashi Lunch Special and expected it to be so much more appetizing but received something I felt was just slapped together really quickly for the sake of delivery. Not worth $18 at all. Quite disappointed.
