Thai done right!
Ready, set, RUNNN to Kitchen 79 for some amazing & authentic Thai food. Whether it's lunch or dinner, this place never disappoints. Lunch special till 4pm is a steal - appetizer + entree at a great price. We're already planning our next visit for more food adventures

VERY COLD RESTAURANT, not a lick of heat during the winter weather. PLS TURN ON THE HEAT. I bet there's no ac in summer too. Cheap owner. We went on a Sunday around 12ish, we walked in and not a single customer. The Asian guy then said where we want to sit, and I pointed to the inside and he rudely said THATS FOR LARGR PARTIES!! Ok cool.
Anyway the restaurant was SO cold as it was a cold day so the whole time my family and I were wearing our jackets to eat. Knew that was a red flag, should have just left.
Ordered pad see ew and crab fried rice. Pad see ew was super salty, I thought it's supposed to be more on the sweet side?? Anyway nothing special. Would never come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 149249271Feb 9, 2024
I've ordered from Kitchen 79 a bunch of times, as I work in Jackson Heights. I'm a big fan of their lunch specials. The prices are fair and the portions are a decent size.
My go-to's are the Pad Thai and the Pineapple Fried Rice. Each dish has really great flavors. The lunch specials also come with an appetizer. We normally get a spring roll and a crab rangoon.
The prices are fair and the serving sizes are pretty average. Overall, it's always a very good lunch.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 46564178Dec 5, 2023
One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to in America. I'm from Malaysia and have visited Thailand more times than I can count and have always been disappointed by American Thai restaurants. But not at Kitchen 79.
The pad see ew is possibly the best I've had in the US. It was saucy without being too wet, the flavors were just right, not too salty or bland. The other dishes were spectacular but the pad see ew really took the prize (and I only tried one bite of my friend's plate!)
The service was excellent and the waiters were joking with us throughout the evening. They were very attentive and since the entire staff was Thai, I really could feel the authenticity through the food!
The ambiance was nice and relaxing, not too crowded or loud. There was even a nice wall for guests to take photos next to.
I can't wait till the next time I'm in the Jackson Heights area because this restaurant was incredible. Thankfully we couldn't get into the restaurant we had originally planned to go to and found our way into Kitchen 79!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 22, 2023
Service is good, vibe is good. Went on a weekday night and there wasn't that many tables.
Thai ice tea and ice green tea are good price for it's portion!
Green curry also pretty good portion, I like how there's actually a lot of curry.
Fried calamari coating was crispy but too hard bite in, salmon was not an amazing flavor to me. Chicken satay is relatively dry too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sep 10, 2023
Kitchen 79 is an authentic Thai cuisine located in elmhurst. The fried calamari was my favorite. Very tender and juicy I highly recommend. The chicken satay pairs so well with the peanut sauce. I wished they gave more sauce for the gang pheromones per yaang and the duck could be a bit more crispy but overall very delicious. The waiter was very sweet and looked out for us so we don't over order. The atmosphere is very nice perfect for a date night.

I really enjoyed the chicken pad thai take out here! Fresh, chewy noodles, just the right balance of sauce, crushed peanuts, and bean sprouts. Staff were very friendly, and there was a very trendy and updated interior design!

A very nice little find in the Jackson Heights area. I have bookmarked this restaurant awhile back and I finally have a chance to bring the family here for dinner. All the items we ordered were delicious and flavorful. Very authentic Thai dishes as my mother-in-law said she could taste the fish sauce but very well balanced!
