I went a few years ago on a weekend because it was supposedly a free fest for kids, and my daughter was young. There was face painting, snow cones, and other stuff, but also these young, annoying preachers attempting to get people to come on stage and renounce their beliefs in order to "accept Jesus." There was a Muslim woman with a hijab in the crowd that agreed to go up, and one of the preachers was asking her to renounce her faith right then and there in front of hundreds. She absolutely refused no matter his insistence and stepped off the stage. When I saw such an appalling spectacle, I immediately left in disgust never to go there again.

I've been a member of this church for 3 years. I have been to Catholic Churches all my life, and I was there just to attend some kind of service, but I never really felt anything. To be honest, I believed that there was a God, but I always thought that He couldn't do the things people were saying. I would attend King Jesus and always have some kind of explanation to people's testimonies. That is, until one day I went through something in my life that nearly broke me, and I went to this church for the first time in person. The person who prayed over me didn't know me, I was brand new to Miami, and I had never talked to this person. This lady knew EXACTLY what was happening in my life, and her prayers were far from vague. She didn't just say, "I see depression", but she knew the exact details.
There are reviews that I read that say that there are "technological" explanations for spiritual manifestations, but that is far from the truth. I had never cried for God until I went to King Jesus. Every church has to express the importance of tithing because it is important that we sacrifice something that we value so much in order to receive more blessings, and my finances can testify to that.
Also, if there was someone in the church that offended you, keep in mind that they don't represent the church as a whole. In response to a particular review, I have a mentor who is currently married to a man who is not Christian, and she has been married to him for years. Some people associated with the church may not always practice a Christian lifestyle, and they learn every day. We cannot bash something based on one person when there are thousands, and I do mean thousands, of other great people that are there to boost your confidence.
This church has been the best church I've ever been to, and I will always be grateful for being saved by God in this church. The Holy Spirit continuously fills this church, so I recommend that if you're looking for a church, give this one a try.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Van T.South Hadley, MA905May 27, 2018
I have read all the negative reviews and there is a common trend: money problem is what offends people. From the costs of the study packages and conferences to the calls for tithe and offering, they get offended. But what they don't think about is, how do the church leaders host multiple events and services without resources? Do you expect dozens and even hundreds of church organizers to live by.. just inhaling air and nothing else? And remember, you don't have to pay for ANYTHING to attend church. You don't have to tithe, give offering or spend a cent to receive the blessings. Those who have the heart to give, that is awesome. Those who don't, it is no big deal.
I came from Vietnam to the US four years ago, and did not know about Jesus. I was seriously depressed and in lack. But a person from this church has introduced me to Jesus, and I was saved in every way a person could be saved. If it had not been for the drive to evangelize, the persistence and the care of this church's member, I would probably have been in the worst possible place today. This church has blessed me and given me so much more than what words can express.
No human is perfect. We are all work in progress. Similarly, this church has drawbacks that I am well aware of. It has a lot to improve on. But overall, it has touched many people and transformed many lives all around the world. So instead of believing every negative opinion on Yelp, please go experience it for yourself, lest you miss out on the blessings that are rightfully yours.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Darlise J.Los Angeles, CA2397Dec 21, 2016
I have been attending this church for 3 months and it has been life changing for me. I have learned so many things in these past three months that have strengthened my personal relationship with God. During this season in my life King Jesus Ministries has given me hope, knowledge, and freedom to continue being the best of who I am. I am a better person today because if it.
This ministry displays a spirit of excellence unlike anything I've seen in a long time. From the parking, greeters/ushers, and the worship team I see nothing but excellence. They way things are done have really impressed me. The leadership team, alter ministers and more. I have to also mention the band and the media team. In my opinion it's something you just have to experience for yourself. Now don't get me wrong people are people and they make up the church. So you may encounter someone who's just having a rough morning. But overall, I will continue to say KJM is an excellent place to come and grow in the things of God supernaturally.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vivian G.Miami, FL051Apr 9, 2016
My 2016 experience attending a service at this King Jesus Ministry: When I finally found the place adjacent to the airport on SW 136 st, even though the address matched, I thought I was at the wrong place because it looked like a convention building center not a church.
It's been years I purposefully watch TV, so I had no expectations of what this place looked like, not having seen it on some telecast. Coming to that building was like driving into the Youth Fair carnival, people in safety vests & batons point you where to park in a vast lot. To the handicap, you will find a problem getting close to the building. Even the closet space was in a closed off parking lot that required looks like 100 feet minimum from the closest car to the entry.
Even though I still wasn't sure the office building ahead of me was the church, in faith I walked in the doors, not sure still because I saw emblems of what looked like the Holy Spirit, but not the name. Walked in & found hall was teaming with people & had tables set up ala convention hawking style.
Where's the church, I wondered. I was told through the double doors straight ahead. Okay, walked into vast hall, theatre setting, plenty of seating & a setup like they were filming Jurassic park: 2 humongous boom mikes swerved like cranes to catch every powerful moment to whatever other audience. But that was not the issue; the issue was the surround-sound speakers which at calculated moments were raised in volume to vibrate your whole body with the sound or music. I was there for 3 hours & the entire time it was an assault on sensibility. For fairness of my assessment & because I was waiting for the service to begin the whole time, I stayed.
Now in summation this is what I experienced: The money-changers Jesus chased out of the church, well their descendants have a church in Miami & it's called King Jesus Ministries. Outside the hall & inside they have their business set up & stand at the ready to provide services for a fee. Even the spiritual leadership is withheld but provided in curriculums you can sign up for & at a price per module (@$200) you are educated. The service had an attractive leader who was expert in the art of evoking emotion & calculated delivery with theatrical flares. The audience was led along like Sesame Street to what they were supposed to feel & profess, given number counts when to feel such & such & toddler prodding to reply back to the preacher or be counted lacking faith.
The worst part to me was the abuse of technology to convince the people they underwent spiritual experiences, particularly time to receive the Holy Spirit involved a countdown & then the surround sound was raised to it highest point so you were rocked by the music & rumbles in a carnival sideshow perpetrated to simulate an actual supernatural experience. Missing were the seatbelts, smoke & mirrors in a carnival ride where each person has paid $10 to 'feel' the spirit shake them & is put through this kind of trickery so they walk away with a 'guaranteed experience'.
Wealth or size or popularity of a church does not an approved church in the body of Christ make. The Holy Spirit doesn't need surround sound or any kind of aid to fill a person. The original apostles had no technology at all & imparted the Holy Spirit just by laying on hands, no SFX added in case the Holy Spirit didn't show for someone & that person might want their money back. I was stunned when it rolled to an end that what I'd gone through, this Mardi Gras carnival, was the service! I'd been expecting for it to start to a real sermon, some real leadership, but could see that any kind of instructions seemed reserved for paid curriculum (hello money-changers) of which they were ready to sign you up if you just walked out to the hall or raised your hands.
In fairness, Pastor Maldonado wasn't there, apparently motivating other branches. But still this system was setup in its maturity in this organization in this address & obviously was a set routine. When I go to church I want to go to church, not a carnival. When I hope to feel the Holy Spirit, I want to feel the Holy Spirit & not a SFX simulation to shut me up if I don't feel the Holy Spirit that night. In other words, I want a real experience & trusted leadership I can relax takes seriously getting the congregation to heaven.
What I found is the money-changers have a sweet setup to offer lucrative curriculums with profound names of 'supernatural' this or that & that rules the sermon lame as it was, because it was a sideshow of praises & accomplishments of the staff & congregation & zilch on preaching the Word. If you're not mature in your Bible education, you need to stay away as you will be caught up in the hysteria of the fun surround sound celebration of a Romans 10:2 church that has a zeal for Christ but not according to knowledge. This is by far the worse church experience I have walked into since coming back to Miami a few months ago.Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 1 - K D.Homestead, FL151Jun 19, 2016
Everyone goes to a church with anticipation or an expectation. At least I do. This place for me is home away from home. A place that has taught myself and many others about the deeper things of God.
I cannot speak on behalf of anyone else because their views or their experience belongs to them. What I can say for me however, the principles that I have learned, the revelation that I have been opened up to, and the encounters that I have had has occurred simply by yielding myself to God and the Holy Spirit and being mindful as He leads me.
Apostle Maldonado and his family have given so much of who they are to be a blessing to a multitude and I am grateful to walk through those doors when they open. Putting aside the esthetics of the building (yes it is too large in the eyes of some) it is a place where people come and have encounters with God, receive healing in their bodies, get set free from things that hold them bound. I can attest to it because I not only witnessed it but experienced it for myself. This truly is a church that is a reflection of the things of God.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
