Good food, quick service and ninety cent can sodas. This place is super budget friendly. I would label it, an Americanized Chinese fast food take out establishment. Yes, there is seating but you are served the take out containers either way.
While the rating is 3 stars overall, there are several 4 star aspects
- very reasonably priced
- large portions
- a 2 free egg rolls or 5pc Crab Rangoon Yelp check in offer
- delivery is available
Food
The food was not a favorite but it was good and on par with most Chinese places of its size and caliber.
Shrimp & Broccoli - 3 stars
Egg roll - 2 stars
Combination Fried rice - 3 stars
Generally speaking, I prefer New Star's Chinese which is down the street but may patronize this establishment from time to time too.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Marissa F.Elmwood Park, IL041Aug 1, 2015
I read the reviews and decided to give this place a try instead of going to my norm, New Star. I ordered the Combination Pad Thai and Crab Rangoon.
The crab rangoon were huge. The order of 5 is a meal in itself. They weren't the best I've ever had, but they were tasty.
The shrimp and chicken were delicious in the pad thai. The beef was close to inedible, which was extremely disappointing. I usually order beef at Chinese places because I am picky about my chicken. At Kings, I will stick with the chicken and say goodbye to the beef. The noodles and sauce were bland. I ended up adding a lot of soy and hot sauce (I've only used soy sauce a handful of times and that was for leftovers) to give them some flavor.
Overall the portions were huge and food was okay. I will be back to try other menu items like the orange chicken and egg rolls.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rachel M.Chicago, IL446Jan 3, 2017
I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from ordering delivery from here on New Year's Eve.
Despite rave reviews, the orange chicken was disgusting. The consistency was rubbery and I don't feel it was actual... meat. More like cartilage and fat, deep fried, set out for an indeterminate amount of time, and slathered in sauce. The coating lost all crispiness and it was just a soggy mess. Sad to say, but Panda Express is far superior. :\
The egg rolls tasted strangely of mulled wine. Perhaps too much clove, cinnamon, and other spices?
The dumpling soup contained soggy bits of noodle and meat.
All in all, it was gross. Won't be ordering from here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mike A.Kingfisher, OK099Aug 20, 2016
I rarely write a review of any kind, much less a bad one, but after reading all the good reviews about this place, I have to give my 2 cents.
I decided to dine in since I'm from out of town, and 1st off, they only serve you bottled or canned beverages.
2nd, they give you a styrofoam plate with plastic utensils to eat from.
3rd, they food was way below average, so I'm scratching my head on the good reviews.
I had the beef with broccoli, orange chicken, chicken chow mien, and egg rolls.
The beef sauce reminded me of a canned soup gravy, the egg rolls tasted very odd, and the crust on the orange chicken was not good at all.
My rural Okla Chinese place beats this hands down, and I should have known better when I arrived.
Either Chicago residents aren't used to good Chinese food, or they're paying someone for the good reviews.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 17, 2016
Went to this restaurant because it's listed as being a restaurant and delivery. There's a counter and a bunch of tables. But be warned if you decide to eat in. There's no ice machine. The restaurant does not make hot tea. And this is really not a restaurant. We asked when we went in too if they did table service because we were out to find a Chinese restaurant to celebrate my wheelchair bound mom's 85th birthday. We left. I didn't try their food, so I can't rate that, but this is a restaurant without an ice machine. If we wanted water, the woman at the counter said she would give us a cup with tap water or we could buy a bottle of water. Yeah, we left.

Value!
I got a small Mongolian beef, a small combination lo mein, and a free orange chicken (because of the yelp deal) all to go. When I got home we were surprised to see huge portions of all our dishes, along with two sides of rice, chopsticks, hot sauce, forks, and two plates. All for $13. Are you kidding???
So how was the food?
It doesn't matter.
Ok but how was the food?
The food was...fine. My wife really liked the orange chicken, it was her favorite dish out of all of them. For me, when I first took a bite I thought it was really good, then the more I ate, the more I felt it was average. The Mongolian beef in particular, tasted like the beef was frozen and then reheated, the lo mein was actually pretty good on its own, and the shrimps were jumbo, so that's a great addition. When I went to pick up the food, the staff was very friendly and courteous. Another plus.
When you look at a take out Chinese place, you're not looking for fancy, gourmet food. You're looking for a place that is cheap, quick, has good service, and decent food. We ate for three days, all on $13. If that isn't five star then I don't know what is.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jaime H.Chicago, IL2361May 20, 2015
Love love LOVE their food...if you compare their food to that of other restaurants there's simply no competition...the taste is wonderful & you can taste the freshness in every bite...i have been a customer at their other restaurants & this new one is just as good...try the orange chicken...you'll be happy you did...then come back and try some more...you won't regret it...

Ever wonder if it's 'meow-meow' or 'eek-eek' that you're eating? Well look no further! Lol. On a serious note, this place is great! I've lived in the area for years and was thrilled when I found this spot. They have fresh veggies, they're not over loaded with salt or grease. Definitely happy I found them and I hope they get enough business to stick around for years.

I love their eggs rolls. The food taste pretty good. I usually get the Shrimp fried rice with thr Jumbo shrimp, mongolian beef and egg rolls. It is always spot on. Sometimes I order Szchewan beef extra spicy with shrimp fired rice and meat egg rolls. All in all the food is good to me.
