Pros: Great burgers, unique and cool environments

Cons: Pricey, busy

Kincaid's is a GREAT burger. Located on one of the coolest streets in Fort Worth, they did a terrific job converting an old grocery store into a burger joint while keeping the grocery store theme.

The place is always busy and you sit at long picnic-style tables with other people or can stand at the railing by the back of the store, so it's pretty much a group eating thing. The burger is juicy and messy, just the way I like it. The onion rings and milkshakes are also good.

This placed missed a 5 because it's pricey. In-n-Out is cheaper and you get a better burger. For that, this place gets a 4, but it's still a fun, great place to get a burger in Fort Worth.

You know, the burger was ok.  Just ok.  It wasn't seasoned, or something wasn't quite great about it.  But it was large and hot, the onion rings were fantastic, and the location is cute.

I agree with the others who've said that the In 'n Out double-double would blow this out of the water.  We just moved here from California, and we're freaking out a little about not being near one...

Located on a beautiful street in Ft.Worth, Kincaids is what other Yelpers have described it as; a good burger at a traditional old school grocery store. I would rate the burger (with all the fixins) comparable to that of In-n-Out burger. The customer service, at least what I experienced, is phenomenal. They treat you as an individual, literally asking for your name when you place your order so that they may call you over when its ready.Dont get me wrong, Its a good burger with some really good flavors. If you are in the area I would say give it a try. However, I dont think it warrants a drive from, lets say, Oklahoma City if you catch my drift.

Overall: A fine good burger, especially for the price.

If you are looking for a break from the monotony of hamburger and fry places, then you will want to step back in time when you enter Kincaid's. Originally established in 1946, this burger joint is well known for its family style seating, and everyday down home greasy spoon diner type cooking. Calorie watchers need to pass on by when they see this place, because their taste buds would likely go into sensory overload when you take your first bite here. There is not a ton of choices on the menu, just choose with or without cheese and with or without chili and then add on some fries or onion rings, and you are set here. You could deviate and get a chicken sandwich or a hot dog, but when a restaurant has its best dish in its name, its best to go with that. You don't go to a steakhouse to eat a salad, you don't go to KFC for fish... so why would you eat a chicken sandwich at Kincaid's Hamburgers.
Favorite Dish: Without a doubt, you need the cardiac combo. Chili Cheeseburger, with chili cheese french fries. Wash that bad boy down with an IBC root beer and you are going old school my friend.

This is my favorite burger place.  The old grocery store/stand at the counter setup is unique and appealing (who wants to sit down every time they eat).  There are tables set up for those who do want to sit.  The burgers are very simple, and very delicious.  Other burger joints dress up their burgers with fancy toppings and sauces.  Kincaids does a great job of keeping it simple and down to earth.  Always packed at lunchtime and sometimes it is hectic around the call counter.  Great place to meet a friend right in the heart of Fort Worth.  Amazing burger joint.  The best Fort Worth has

If cheesey, melty, greasy, huge, filling burgers are overrated, then Kincaid's is the Citizen Kane of Funky Town. Here's all you need to know:
A. Worth going once simply because of the location (an old grocery store)
B. Great cheap burger [ Namely the beef. the lettuce and tomatoes are forgettable, but not bad. ]
C. It will be crowded any time close to noon.
D. Neither the fries nor the onion rings are anything to Yelp about.
E. What are you people, French? This is how burgers are supposed to be made.

It may not be the best; it may not even be as good as everyone says, but go find out for yourself. And if you want to lose all credibility and wave goodbye to your dreams of writing for the star telegram, recommend to me a Pappa's burger instead of Kincaid's.

As the sports chant goes: OH-VER RAY-TED!  (Over-rated.)

I get the nostalgia of bricked Camp Bowie, one of the coolest streets and areas in DFW, and the old fashioned grocery store with the original wood shelves, but the hamburger leaves something to be desired.

Sure they are rather thick, but they are dry.  The french fries are pretty ordinary, the variety of hamburgers are very ordinary and use very grocery store ingredients. In fact, when I thought about getting onion rings I looked in to the kitchen and saw the cook pulling frozen onion rings out of a package and throwing them in a fryer.

... Honestly Kincaids, is it too much trouble to hand cut some onions, dip them in some simple batter and throw them in a fryer? Don't you think people will notice the difference in taste and be willing to pay for them?  This bugs me. Their onion rings are a microcosm of why I don't like Kincaids. They are lazy and cook a cheap, inferior product.

Go to Dutch's, Charley's or Twisted Root in Dallas.

This place's burgers is over hyped.  Not just on Yelp, but even my local friends raved about this place and it wasn't the best burger I've had.

The building is cute and it was comfortable.  In addition to the standard burger menu, they had devilled eggs and pimento & cream cheese stuffed jalapenos.

The onion rings were what made it though.  They passed the bite test (does the onion slip through the breading test), excellent thick breading and made to order.

The burgers we make at home are as good if not better. If a burger joint cannot beat our burger then it's a three star at best. To me the In 'N Out Burger's Double-Double has yet to be beaten by any burger business. Kincaid's cannot touch INOB's 2x2.

I am so happy that I am a yelper, b/c w/o YELP, I wouldn't have known about this great burger place.
Yup, this place is stuck in time and it even says, grocery and burger place.
I had the chili cheeseburger and holy shit it was seriously soo good. Just totally messy with the grease oozing out and I really loved the chili and meat ratio which was perfect.
My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and he said it was delicious too and his bacon was really good.
We also had deviled eggs there and that was pretty unique and good too.
Now, I know where I'm going when I'm headed out here at Ft. Worth.

Good, cheap, home-made burgers. I will admit its a little over-rated and the place is always super busy and crowded. But it's still pretty good. If you're looking for an alternative that isn't as crazy, try Charlie's near TCU.

Kincaid's is the mecca of burger joints.  It has a very down-home feel which is encouraged by the picnic table community seating.  There's nothing special about the burgers themselves (outside of the flavor), but if you want an incredible, slightly-greasy hamburger, there is absolutely nowhere better.  Hands-down my all-time favorite.

Kincaid's is a Ft. worth tradition, plain and simple. If you are in the area, stop in a grab a burger. This is one of those places that you need to be able to say "Ohh yeah, I've been there before"

This is the original location and it's been around since 1946 for a reason; good burgers.

Everything is made to order so you will have a little waiting to do but be patient. After you have eaten your delicious burger, make sure you get some of the banana pudding, simple and delicious.

I gave up cheeseburgers for forty long days of Lent. FORTY DAYS. I did it damn it but it was time to rejoice with eating some fried red meat.

Easter evening I ate a Jack in the Box cheeseburger and thought, what the hell was I thinking? I waited 40 days for.. that?!?! Gaaa.
I loathe McD's. I loathe Burger King. Whataburger has fake ketchup instead of Heinz. I wanted a real cheeseburger with real ketchup dammit.

I had been to Kincaid's once by Hulen and liked the burger but hated the atmosphere. The picnic table thing made me uncomfortable as a single person dining alone and I would have much rather had a booth to hide in. A friend told me I must check out the original. After surviving a whole day of bouncing off the walls happy to be back in school teenagers, I decided today was a Carpe Diem day and I would see the original Kincaid's.

The original Kincaid's is unassuming and you can drive right past it. Twice even but it's there. Sure enough it looked much like the mom and pop small grocery stores in the coal towns of my childhood where they will make you a deli sandwich on the spot. However in Kincaid's those grocery cans are purely for show. I was tempted to ask if I could buy the Progresso Lentil soup just to throw em for a loop but no, that wouldnt' be nice. Other smartasses no doubt do this tons of times and you should not tempt the cheeseburger gods to frown upon you.

I was told I had a 12 minute wait on my cheeseburger. Hey man, that's fine. That means it's not been sitting in a hot warmer. It was worth a 12 minute wait plus I had free magazines to look at while I waited. Onion rings cost twice as much as the fries but are real onion rings and worth the expense. I was quite pleased. The cheeseburger craving has been sated and I would totally go again.

However, dirt on the wall decor is minus a star. Sure the tables are clean but windex people, windex. Also looking at a Miss USA and some Dallas cheerleaders from 1972 with feathered hair, camel toe and anorexic thighs wasn't adding to my happiness at finally consuming the grease I had wanted for so very long. Take those skinny bitches down off the wall please and let me eat in peace!

Update: The glass on the bad wall art is now clean. It's not possible to give a 4.75 stars to bash the Dallas cheerleaders so I'll have to give Kincaids' five stars.

Update 2: never get a milkshake. They are pre made and coagulated in a cooler. Stick with fountain soda and you'll be happier.

Great Burgers, it is where friends go to meet.  Used to be a grocery store that served burgers in the back.  The burgers took over.  Friendly staff and they crank out the burgers.

If you go to Fort Worth this place is a must if you want Fort Worth down home culture.

This is always my first stop when I visit the area. There are no better burgers, anywhere. I rate and compare all burgers to the Kincaid standard and they have set the bar high enough that no place else can reach it. It is a Fort Worth institution and historical landmark. I don't consider In-n-Out as good, as some others do, because if it doesn't run down your arms and require half the napkins in the holder then it's not the best and that is Kincaid's.

Out of the hundreds and hundreds of burgers I've had in my life - I keep going back to Kincaid's and thinking "yep...this is the best".  You have to get it with bacon to take it over the top.

I can understand why some people would rank it low because of the hype.  I've experienced the same thing with a burger joint near my new home in California.  That said, I've never been disappointed in Kincaid's.  And every time I take someone new, it becomes their favorite burger...so my opinion can't be THAT skewed.

It's a classic.  The original location is great and you take several steps back in time.  I even enjoy eating them standing up, it makes it easier to devour.

Heard so much about it, I had to go check it out! Alas, what a waste of time...burgers are way better elsewhere, and I'd like to be blaspheme here, but I don't care to say that good ole McD's is better. The food is extra greasy and overall not exceptional, ambiance is original (read "dirty") and not very comfortable when it gets crowded with  families....I hear that it is plagued by micro-management on the part of the family who owns this little chain, thus the staff is unhappy and unmotivated.
Bottom line...I heard there is a Fuddruckers nearby!

I don't know if this is only because I've gone once, but I had a terrible experience here.  The burger took about 20 minutes to get to me, and that was probably the reason it was overcooked.  They probably cooked it so long, that I had to wait longer than normal for a really dry burger.

Over-rated. As a FW native (Nolan, TCU), I've been here tons and have never understood the allure. Yeah, it is in an old grocery store on a cool street. Meh. It survives on reputation alone, like Joe T's. Better burgers abound: Go up University to Dutch's and Papa's and you'll do better.

With all the phenomenal burger joints in town, why is it that Kinkaid's always gets the glory? The food is very consistent but it depends on what you like. The thick chopped fries are  usually a little dry yet somehow still greasy and the burger meat seems a little shortchanged. They have good flavor, but we here in the Fort can find better. The atmosphere is family fun, the kids love being at picnic tables, but c'mon folks...try some of your other options!

Used to live just down Camp Bowie from this place.
Year in year out some travel guide rates them as having one of the best burgers in the country.
Lazy lazy writters don't bother to go try new places. It is good, but for years has lived on past owners reputation,
Would I eat there - you bet, and would enjoy the meal. Would it be my first or even second choice to chow down? With all the great eateries in Fort Worth --- Not Even.

This place is right up there with Jake's for me, although the hamburgers seem like complete opposites.  I don't want to say these burgers are healthier, but when you leave you don't feel like you just ate a horse, like you do at Jake's.  The grill is really old so all the flavor from every burger ever made will be rolled up into your burger.  The onion rings are about as good as it gets.  Try their lemonade also.  I used to drive 45 minutes to go to Kincaids, but now I fear that it would take an hour and a half.  The atmosphere is different too.  You can stand at the cabinets located in the middle of the restraunt or sit at one of the benches.  Good luck getting a bench on Saturday at noon though.  A lot of people will downplay Kincaids because of the hype, but they are wrong.  Dead wrong.  I will see to it that they change their ways.

Im too lazy to make the location in southlake so ill just do this one, ive never actually been to this location but this review is on the southlake one.

Anyway, the burgers are good partly beacuse they use a very high quality organic meat, and a deliscious seasoning, but they use mrs bairds buns, i think they could at least make their own. It gets 4 stars beacuse the prices are a tad snazzy, and they have a confusing atmosphere, crappy, ore ida french fries, and low quality everything else, but burgers are their thing right?

You make the choice to go here or not.

This place is a very good eatery in SW Fort Worth, which is probably the best community in the DFW area.  I agree with those who think this place is a BIT "emperor's new clothes", in that it was once one of the best burger places in the country and people may convince themselves it is better than it is due to that.

Nonethelss, the burgers are great, the atmosphere is fun, and the part of town it is in gets it an extra star.

I had high hopes for this place since a lot of the native people from hear bragged about how great Kincaids is. "best burger you'll ever eat" they said. I gotta say the place does look really cool inside and its prolly in the coolest area of Ft. Worth IMO. But don't let the glitz and glamour fool you. The burgers here are mediocre at best. They are plan basic as you can get. If fact they don't really have any flavor to them. You might as well put a slab of hamburger in a pot boil it in some water and slap it on a bun. That's a kincaids burger. Also Holy crap its totally expensive, get a Coke, plan burger, and a small order of fries and you just dropped 10 bucks. I told my friend that took me that he owed me 15 bucks cause that place was horrible and giving me an extra 5 bucks only seemed fair. I suggest going up the street and stop at Tommy's Burgers. Now they know what a burger is suppose to taste like.

Some people will swear these are the best burgers around... but I agree with some of the other posters that others have made some pretty darn burgers.  But if you are a Hamburger Freak then you should make the drive out here and see for yourself.  I work in Fort Worth and people still flock to this place for lunch... its nothing fancy and is set up in an old grocery store with the aisles still in place, you stand in lines order you burger and then they call your name and you pick it up.  They have long tables that everyone sits at together or if its standing room only - stand up around an aisle and enjoy.

I've been to Kincaid's many times, because coworkers like to go there on our lunch break occasionally, but I don't go out of my way to go here.  The burgers are decent but not exceptional.    I personally liked the french fries, and you can also get the somewhat hard to find "Mindy Lu's Fried Pies" here, which are delicious.     For the price, and for the quality of burger, I'd rather go to Tommy's,  or Jon Jon's Grill,   or Molly's Burger's in Arlington (south of 20 on Little Road about 1/4 mile),  or anywhere else convenient really.     Kincaid's just doesn't have anything to offer, burger-wise,  that would entice me to go there if I weren't meeting others that do like it, and to be fair, I have some friends that love it.    I just don't feel the same way.    Please  understand - I'm not saying the burgers are bad - they are a nice lunch,  but I don't understand the hype that some people have for this place.
