After having a few tasters at a nearby tasting room, I built up an appetite and found that Khan Baba, which I had bookmarked, offered an easy on line order and pick up option. Score!
The pick up process was smooth and ready in less than 20 minutes. My roommate and I shared the Goat Korma and Chicken Biryani, the two most popular items on the Yelp Eat24 app.
When we got home, we were excited that the Goat Korma was still very hot and the Chicken Biryani portion was huge. Our meal also came with this refreshing cilantro yogurt sauce. When I had a taste of the sauce, I realized I should have asked for more. It was so good and helped to balance out the spice and heat from the two dishes we got. The meat in the Goat Korma was well cooked and super tender like it had been stewing for hours. Goat can taste gamey if it's not cooked well. This goat had great flavor with a lot of heat. The saucy Goat Korma dish went well with the more dry Chicken Biryani dish. The Chicken Biryani was very flavorful. It would have been good on its own, but it was definitely even better with the Goat Korma and cilantro yogurt sauce.
I am so happy I found this place. It's very authentic, convenient to order from, and they do not shy away from using a lot of spices. The plates are a little pricier compared to lunch style entrees at nearby Punjabi, but if you like great flavors that come from Indian/Pakistanian food, you need to try the food at Khan Baba.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 24, 2016
Was really torn between three and stars, because the food was good, but the service was pretty terrible. I believe my date and I visited during opening weekend, which might have explained why the service was a mess.
When we walked in we were unsure of whether to sit down or order at the counter. This place seems pretty casual, but if you're dining in, it's full service. It took awhile to order and to get our food, but we understood that they were bombarded with phone and take out orders.
For our appetizer we shared the shami kabob. I'm not sure how to describe this, but they were little patties of beef and lentil deliciousness! This was the highlight of the meal. For my dish, I got the shahi chiciken, which was tasty, but a bit too oily for me. I do wish that it could have included a small cup of rice.
At the end of the meal, getting the check was a bit of a disaster. My date flagged our waitress down requesting the check, but it never came. The take out line was long, so after about 15 minutes of waiting, I told him to just get in line like everyone else to grab the check. When my date got up to the register to pay, it dawned in the waitress that she forgot the check and she profusely apologized. This young woman definitely was overwhelmed by the amount of guests and responsibilities.
Khan Baba Kabab House definitely has a lot of potential. On my next visit, I hope the service issues get straightened out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 19, 2016
Pretty good Indo-Pak food!
Tried a few items:
Chapli kebabs- 4 ginormous kebabs- the whole spices ( example coriander seeds etc) while authentic were a little too overpowering for my taste.
Boneless chicken tikka kebabs- very very well marinated , perfectly juicy and moist chicken- an excellent dish!
Goat korma - the highlight of our meal, nice meaty pieces of goat cooked to tender perfection in a thick onion tomato gravy and doused in oil. Perfect accompaniment to plain naan!!
Murgh mussalam - lightly marinated chicken fried... I loved the coating of the marinade and crispness on the outside of the chicken but the inside was rather bland and lacking in flavor.
The order took a good 10-15 mins to be served which tells me they were made to order.
The mango lassi too is extremely thick and rich!!!
Definitely coming back for more, I do hope they gradually expand their menu!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 2017
WARNING: This place makes incredibly delicious SPICY food.
I've tried two of their most popular dishes. The beef and the chicken one. Both were delicious with the rice. However I had to drench the meat with their irresistible mint yogurt sauce. The vegetarian samosas are also a great appetizer to prepare your stomach for their spicy food. The customer service is great. The guy working behind the counter is friendly and helpful when choosing items. I would recommend this place to all people! (except if you can't handle the heat!)Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Pratap C.San Diego, CA3601101024Apr 20, 2017
One of the best places if not the best in San Diego to try South Asian goat curry. This place brings together the unique flavors from the origins of the dish with excellent quality of ingredients used. The meat and vegetables used were very fresh and well prepared. It is definitely a must visit place for folks not minding a limited menu but are particular about the quality of the food consumed. The place has extremely limited seating so be open to take food to-go as well.
We were told today that this wonderful place is shutting down later this week. Truly a loss for the numerous patrons of the sumptuous goat curry these people used to offer... :(Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Julie D.San Jose, CA472182275Sep 23, 2016
I'm so torn about this place. I enjoyed the food but service was lacking and WE WERE CHARGED FOR WATER. *flips table* I don't think I'd come back as a sit down but maybe as to-go since I really liked the food.
Since this is a new business, the place was clean and it looked nice. There was only one person working the front of the restaurant on a Thursday night which meant every thing goes a lot more slowly. It takes awhile to get seated, your orders to be taken, etc. It wasn't a big deal for me since I was with good company and it's a family owned small restaurant, so ok.
Got the food after like 20 minutes. Pakastani food is really flavorful and the goat curry we ordered was kind of spicy. I can handle spicy but my other friends couldn't so we were looking around trying to make eye contact with the worker. Long story short, we got water bottles and were charged for water. That soured my experience and hence, the 3 stars.
WHAT I ORDERED:
- Goat Korma ($9.99): Easily my favorite dish I got. Spicy onion paste curry dish with braised goat and chili oil. The goat meat was ridiculously tender and the curry went well with the naan ($1.50 each) and the chicken biryani we ordered. Downside was that there was chunks of bone accompanied in the dish. :^(
- Chicken Biryani ($9.99): Mixed rice with chicken breast. It pretty large and has enough rice to be split between 3-4 people if there are other dishes involved.
- Chapli Kebab: I have never tried anything like this. It says kebab but looks like a burger haha. Mild seasoningHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2017
It's a good joint for Indian or Pakistani Food. Can help all those Indian food cravings
Food: I got the Chicken Biryani and Sheek Kebab. The kebab was mind-blowing, too good. The biryani was good too, the rice was properly cooked, could tell every grain apart, could have had a little more chicken but otherwise it was great.
Staff: The guy on the counter who I am assuming was the owner was very sweet. One of those people who always have a smile on their face and it's just great to meet them.
Ambience: As soon as you enter the place you will be smitten with the brilliant aroma of the food they make. It's a small place, but had like 7-8 tables which surprisingly did not make the small place look stuffed.
In-all: I loved the food, and I look forward to try the other stuff on their menu.
Recommendation: This place can be your goTo place if you stay nearby or are craving Indian/Pakistani food.
Rating: 5 stars for the food alone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 24, 2016
Authentic food - tried lamb kebabs, chicken curry and goat Biriyani. All were delicious- spicy and fresh.
Shami kebabs were really good too.
Good to have a Indo/Pakistani place here.
Some of the food was a bit too spicy but the flavor was excellent so we kept eating more.
Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly.
Can't wait to try other dishes.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shane D.San Diego, CA1383222Sep 8, 2016
Excellent food
Love the fact that everything is so fresh. Hand cooked to order
Meat is harmone free, grass fed. The manager in the front goes above and beyond in customer service.
Ordering was a breeze and the food came out in time. When everything is cooked to order, it does take a little time.
Naan was amazing, fresh off the clay oven, mouthwatering. This is my fourth visit in 3 weeks and I have not been disappointed.
Management, keep the good food coming
Yelpers, try this and you won't be disappointed

First time here, but definitely NOT last! I've had my fair share of middle eastern cuisine, and this place met my effortlessly passed expectations by a long shot.
Went with three friends and ordered 3 plates (nahiri, seekh kabob, chicken Tika), chicken briani (to share), and 3 Naans. This was beyond filling, literally stuffed!
Nonetheless, the food was amazing. No complaints, at all. Everything is priced very fairly, and extremely inexpensive. This cuisine indefinitely filled our ethnic craving, and will be back soon!
PS:I would recommend their green sauce, chutney, on everything. EVERYTHING.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
