My bf (not the same from the last review) and I have made Kenny's a location we frequent quite often.
It's simple.
It's straight forward.
It's pretty consistent.
What more can you ask for?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 2, 2015Previous reviewCame back and had the wonton and beef brisket noodles with the boyfriend!! He slurped up the whole dang thing. I wanted the sui kai and wonton noodles but they gave both of us the same thing!! That's my only complaint and the place isn't as friendly as a restaurant establishment should be but it's good so as long as they aren't rude I'm good.
Sep 29, 2015Previous reviewI seeked this joint out because I live far from Mom and Mom is the only person who is ready and willing to whip up a bowl of nutritionally dense congee when you're hacking up a lung.
This place comes second. I freaking love it.
2 days in a row I'm there. That tells you enough. Haven't tried the noodles or anything else. I just love the thick congee that only the Chinese can make! - Oct 22, 2023
FOOD: I haven't had such good wonton noodles in ages. The falcons are traditional and authentic like what I grew up with. They make the dry and soup noodle dishes and the different styles of wonton sui gao. The beef in the beef tendon egg noodles soup was sooooo tender. The egg noodles are not overdone and have the al dente feel to it like the street eats in Hong Kong. The pork in the wonton is fresh and the broth is so well seasoned.
SERVICE: Prompt orders and efficiently working staff even when the whole place is packed.
AMBIANCE: Not near much and pmuch a hole in the wall. But it's great for family lunch/dinnersHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 23, 2023Updated review
I thought I wrote a review for this. I guess not. Hands down the best Chinese comfort food in town. Honestly, better than the sibling store in Seattle in my opinion. That's why we travel far to here every time. Good size, clean and fast service. Plenty of parking spaces. Authentic besides a few items due to limited supplies in states such as the fried fish cake, but still good. Congee variety is great. We will come back again.

The size of this place could be bigger and I can guarantee people would come. The young lady works there so smart. She was doing everything from answering the phone orders to busing table all by herself and handled very well. Again, this is the authentic HK style noodle house!

Noodles, soup dumplings, and congee -- what's not to like?
I had the wonton, siu kau noodle soup. It was a welcome bowl of comfort after a long day of driving. Everything was perfect -- the broth, the firmness of the noodles, and the delicious dumplings.
Value was solid. Service was efficient and kind. Parking is free in their dedicated lot.
Bottom line: I'd eat here every week if I could. Highly recommend for no frills dumplings and soup noodles.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ceicei C.Portland, OR01Mar 31, 2024
I ordered to-go and when I got there, they messed up my order and the lady gave me attitude when I told her, especially when I double confirmed my order over the phone. Overall the experience, was not pleasant and the lady went straight to the kitchen and talk shit. What kind of customer service is this?! Definitely will not come back to a restaurant that has a lack of customer service

Best wonton noodle soup in Portland. My favorite is the sui kao noodle soup. Unlike regular wontons, these also have bamboo and woodear mushrooms. The dumplings are of good size and the noodles are very bouncy, not like the typical egg noodles you get from the store. In my opinion, there's not much of a size difference between size small and large except a large will give you a LOT more noodles. If you only want dumplings, they have that option as well and you will get bokchoy instead of noodles. Definitely my go to whenever I crave this type of noodle soup.

Porridge is good any time of the day - whether you are feeling under the weather or if you just simply want something light to eat. After my one-week road trip in Oregon, I was definitely craving some Chinese food and was surprised with finding Kenny's Noodle House with so many positive reviews.
Walked in before the lunch crowd and was seated immediately. The menu had lots of options, and I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat. Decided to go with a porridge and Wonton Noodle without Soup.
The porridge was a good serving size, but nothing much to rave about. I didn't care for the Wonton much (because I like my wontons with more shrimp and less pork), but their noodles were cooked to perfection. It was so good that I decided to order the Beef Brisket and Noodles. I should have stopped when I finished my original 2 dishes because I didn't like how they drowned my Beef Brisket Noodles with too much sauce.
There are plenty of parking spaces available. The waitresses would take your order and get your food delivered, but I wouldn't say much beyond that. The lunch crowd came, and the line was out the door, so the waitresses were low-key trying to get people to pay and get out of the restaurant.
Overall, I was happy I got some decent Cantonese Food in Portland. Would definitely recommend it. While they prefer cash payment, they do also accept credit cards at this location.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 622683746Apr 8, 2023Updated review14 check-ins
Authentic and best Cantonese Noodle Soup in Portland!
Born in San Francisco Chinatown a standard lunch at U Lee was Wonton Soup and Chow Mein.
Kenny's Noodle House brings back childhood creature comforts.
I did a search on Sui Kai vs Wontons and they are basically a difference in dialect.
Sui Kai are jumbo Wontons the way they are classically. OMG I drive here from the Westside to have them.
The egg noodles here are also a Cantonese classic with a distinct taste, which some reviewers have characterized as fishy or odd. Think of it this way, authentic Thai food uses fish sauce.
My Chinese Acupuncturists referred me here.
Their favorites include the Beef Stew or the Fish Ball noodle soups.
I'd say my favorites are the Wonton Sui Kai Noodle Soup and the Beef Brisket Soup.
I was going to Pho restaurants but have come back to my roots. People who dine here are almost all Chinese.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 31, 2021Previous reviewCantonese comfort food.
This is a Chinese noodle house, with distinctively Chinese egg noodles and broths.
I love the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, because of the rich broth.
In Cantonese cuisine, this Beef Brisket Noodle Soup is perfect for when you are low on energy, designed for blood building.
The Baby Bok Choy is so good, I can eat a whole plate of it.
Good thing that Yelp has photos of the menu, because the new menu has no photos.
Many Cantonese love the Fish ball soup.
I like the Wonton soup here with lots of added ingredients.
You can also order noodles without soup, and rice dishes if you are dining with people who aren't that into noodles.
Surprisingly, they are open at 9:30 am, so you can have soup for breakfast if you're in the area. If you are intrigued, this is where Cantonese go for noodles. You will sometimes find some non-Cantonese customers here who also love Cantonese Noodle Soup.Nov 15, 2016Previous reviewI give Kenny's Noodle House this context sensitive review as a Chinese American born in Chinatown.
Sometimes we just need comfort food when we are feeling under the weather, and maybe we live too far from home to go over to our family's house when we are in need of nourishment.
My Chinese acupuncturist from China recommended that I come here for congee (jook) - Apr 24, 2023
I absolutely love little hole in the wall places, we decided to go and check it out, OMG so glad we did, this was amazing little place, very simple and the food was absolutely amazing, we ordered the beef noodles and the fried fish noodle soup with shrimp dumpling, I was so happy it was definatly made with a lot of love and packed with flavors, make sure to ordered the "donuts" fried bread with sugar on side so yummy!
Service was amazing, we loved all the recommendations Thank you!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
