Training with Kenny has been worth every penny. I've been with him for 1.5 years, which has made a huge difference in how I feel. Before coming to Kenny at Body of Work, I was flabby, unmotivated, and not looking my best.
Six months before a milestone birthday I started working out with Kenny 2xs a week. Thanks to Kenny, I've toned my arms, abs, and glutes, now, I feel so much better about my body and much healthier overall.
Kenny does a good job keeping it interesting and tailored to you.
And the biggest perk is that Kenny is delightful so the hour goes by quickly. He's just an all-around good guy who loves what he does and cares about his clients. Highly recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Not A.San Francisco Bay Area, CA0291Jan 24, 2020
TL;DR: Kenny makes working out WAY more pleasant. You should pay him.
I hate sweating, I hate it, I would rather skip meals than exercise. That was working for me fine until I had a major surgery and needed to rehabilitate half of my body. I did not have the discipline to stick to physical therapy, ok, I was gonna be effed up for life, oh well. My husband was not impressed with my attitude and he called Kenny.
So now three days a week I get up at the butt crack of dawn and he is there. Waiting. Plotting. Composing a symphony of exercises designed to allow me to walk and bend over without pain. Preparing to counter any protests I might make, block any shortcuts I might take. He is vigilant... always vigilant.
I hate sweating, I hate it. Kenny talks, he jokes, he puts on whatever music I want. He patters and parries. I end up sweating but I am entertained. There was no other way this was going to work for me, because I am weak. Kenny made it work.
If you LIKE sweating (how?!?!) you could probably, like, unlock the next level and go full BEASTMODE with Kenny. Maybe one day I'll get there too; but only thanks to Kenny.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - C P.Oakland, CA743Mar 1, 2018
I had every excuse in the book to not work out. I was stressed and bummed out so I stopped doing all the outdoor activities I used to enjoy. I gained a bunch of weight in a little under two years and I felt like I was too lazy/out of shape/clumsy/gimpy/sad/big/old to work out, or that maybe I could motivate myself via some self-hate pep talks. I finally made the commitment and called Kenny after reading other peoples' reviews here. The workouts have a ton of variety. I feel stronger and more capable of doing my daily activities, and have done things I know would have been nearly impossible for me just a few months ago. Plus, my back hasn't hurt at all since I started working with him! Kenny is encouraging and helpful and down-to-earth, and is really good at tailoring the workouts to fit your abilities and help you make progress.

I've been working with Kenny for about a year and half, and the couple of hours a week I spend at Body of Work makes the whole rest of the week go better. Here are some of my favorite things about working with Kenny:
- There's a lot of variety in the workouts - at various times we've used kettlebells, dumbells, TRX, the Bulgarian Bag, or heavy ropes as the primary equipment, along with lots of accessories like resistance bands, stability ball, medicine ball, sliding discs, agility ladders, and more.
- I used to have chronic minor back pain and about every 6 or 8 months I'd have an injury that would incapacitate me for a few days and bother me for a week or so more. Acupuncture helped with pain and inflammation after I got hurt, but what I really needed was improved strength and balance to not get hurt in the first place. Since working with Kenny I've been injury free.
- My functional strength and agility are greatly improved in ways that I notice in real life - things like coaching my son's soccer team and skiing with friends and family.
- I'm not a natural athlete, so I need coaching and examples on good form. Kenny's very patient at demonstrating, observing, and correcting. And he's gradually ramped up the difficulty and intensity of the workouts, so I've never felt like I hit a wall or plateau.
Finally here's my most important endorsement: about a year ago I gave my father a gift of some sessions for his birthday. He continues to see Kenny, and now my mother does as well.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - karin b.Oakland, CA326Jan 21, 2014
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Trainer Kenny!
I started coming here about 3 months ago and did personal training with Kenny. Even coming just twice a week changed the way my body felt and the way I felt about my body. Now I have switched to his weekday boot-camp sessions and, even though I am sore, I feel great.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hilda Z.Northern California, CA4144695Oct 10, 2015
Perhaps I had high expectations going in, per earlier reviews. I was looking to work on my posture and prepare for fall which is when my average sitting hours (due to work) tend to increase (and so does my back pain). I found Kenny to be a great athlete, very knowledgeable but I would have liked more input to my posture or form other than "lower your butt".
For 2 months, I met for 5AM individual sessions 2 times a week, as no group sessions were available. Super bummed no group classes ever 'opened up' during my 2 months seeing him, I have a feeling that would have been much more enjoyable.
Perhaps he is not a morning person but when money is involved I tend to get picky as he was frequently late. Not more than 10-15 minutes but it became a contributing factor for me not to continue on to month 3 (or perhaps that he was on his cell a few times while I was in 'session').
The sessions all included a 15 minute warm-up routine that you repeat. Every session. On your own. Then you have a 40-45 minute routine that he creates and would introduce each move (a demo if you will) and watch/supervise as you performed the reps.
I was looking forward to using kettlebells as a friend raved about them (using a different trainer), but after pulling something in my upper back, I effing hate them.
Kenny is coach style-training. He's a cool cat, but not my style.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Twanisha S.Dublin, CA1211114May 18, 2016
I have enjoyed my small group training sessions at Body of Works. Since joining the group I have been supported, motivated and challenged to go beyond my limits. The team approach provides the encouragement I need to keep going even when I don't feel like it. I am more motivated to workout outside of class as well. I enjoy my meal plan, it's easy to follow and user friendly. I can eat my meals and snacks at anytime on the go. I feel full between meals and I have more energy.

I've been working with Kenny for over a year now and couldn't be happier with the results. I've seen huge improvements in all areas I've been working on: core stability and strength, explosive power, and upper body strength.
Every workout is a little different -- sometimes we'll do kettle bells, sometimes TRX, sometimes lower reps and higher weights, or plyometrics. The variation really helps keep my motivation up and keeps me excited for the next appointment. Another reason why working out here is fun is Kenny himself: he's hilarious and very motivating, besides being a knowledgeable and professional personal trainer.
I currently do one private and one group session per week, and I'm considering adding a third.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica B.Oakland, CA6862Oct 31, 2015
I could not give a higher recommendation for a trainer. I worked out with Kenny's small group classes, we never had more than 3 people to a class and every week was different. We never once repeated a workout. Each workout left me feeling exhausted and accomplished, if you want to challenge yourself, reach your fitness goals and get stronger then this is the trainer for you. There was a feeling of camaraderie in the small group classes and I genuinely enjoyed working out with them, getting to know my group better and Kenny as well. He is very knowledgeable and works within your fitness goals, and is always asking for your feedback so he can provide the best training for his clients. Overall great experience that I highly recommend for anyone trying to get fit and see changes in their body.

Pretty great personal trainer. I've been training with Kenny for four months and he's gotten me to really like the routine. His studio is clean and welcoming and he really tailors his program to your goals. He motivates well but has a generally chill approach. I like him as a person and really like how he's gotten me so into the workouts. Reasonable rates and just a very good trainer.
