I have severe rheumatism and visited Dr. Shinada. I received terrible care by this Dr. The office runs very similar to a General Hospital. Dr. Shinada has a five minute policy. Once the five minutes are up he runs out of the room with out asking if you have any questions or reading your blood work.
My wonderful Dr. retired and thinking this was a wonderful hospital went there. During your five minutes with Dr. Shinada most of the time he looks at you with a blank stare.
I had a flare up and requested for Dr. Shinada to give me intravenous cortisone, at this clinic this is not done in the office but, in the hospital. To get an appt. it took four days, which I did not have and had to go and visit a Dr. outside of Keck medical. Doctor Shinada instead of approving a one time infusion which is all I needed he approved for me to receive 100mg of cortisone for seven days. This would of killed me and I refused it. A one time infusion is all I needed.
Do not waist your time going to Keck medical. The nurses change every four months. Their is no follow up on ur care. I hope this was helpful.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kaitlyn N.Aliso Viejo, CA062Feb 26, 2024
I am writing to formally express my profound concern and distress regarding the deletion of my surgical video recorded at Keck USC. I was to be made into a case study, but now without this video of my surgery, my case study is no more. This surgery, a T7/T8 Laminectomy performed in May 2023, was not only a pivotal moment in my life but also a significant educational and medical case study. After being diagnosed with a T7/T8 spinal cord cavernoma in February 2023, I dedicated immense effort towards researching and seeking expert medical opinions.
This journey led me to my neurosurgeon here at Keck USC, whose expertise and collaborative approach with a consortium of neurosurgeons provided invaluable insights and hope. The decision to record my surgery for educational purposes seemed to further validate the uniqueness and complexity of my case.
However, during my most recent appointment I was recently informed that this crucial video was either deleted or overwritten. This loss is deeply troubling, not only because of the educational potential and awareness it held but also due to its significance in my ongoing case with the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). This video was critical in showcasing the rarity and invasiveness of my surgery, and its absence severely impacts my ability to illustrate the extent of my medical condition to the SSDI. The apparent ease with which such an important record was lost raises serious concerns about the data management and record-keeping protocols at Keck USC. This incident, I believe, borders on medical malpractice, considering it involves the mishandling of sensitive medical records integral to a patient's medical history and treatment.
Therefore, I respectfully request a thorough investigation into this matter. I seek a detailed explanation of the circumstances leading to the deletion of my surgical video (case study) and an overview of the hospital's protocols for storing and handling such critical medical records. Understanding what went wrong in my case is essential for ensuring that such regrettable incidents do not recur.
Additionally, I request assistance in any form that could aid in my SSDI case, given the unexpected setback caused by this incident. Any documentation, reports, or expert opinions that can substantiate the complexity and severity of my medical condition would be immensely helpful. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. I trust that Keck USC values the sanctity of patient care and record-keeping, and will take the necessary steps to address this issue comprehensively. Thank you for your time and understanding.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

++++This review is about Dr Farzandi's office+++++
If I can put minus stars I would!
I haven't seen the Dr yet and I don't think the Dr is bad. In fact, I think she's excellent based on reviews. But beware, you can't call the clinic and get someone on the phone. You have to leave a message and they will call you back within 48 hours!!! When they call back, it's the same person who recorded the message and she is very rude. It feels like she's doing you a favor making an appointment for you. I'm not their patient by primary care. Thanks God!!! I don't even know if I want to go here.
As a patient you feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. I never expected this from USC. I had high expectations... it's sad that the higher up don't know what's up. The doctor managing this clinic should know about this as the actions of the receptionist give their office and the entire USC a bad reputation.
I don't recommend this office because of clerks!!! They play the part in your care unfortunately.
Update **** After 6 months of waiting and 2 cancellations made by the office I finally saw Dr Ferzandi. She is amazing as I thought, very knowledgeable and friendly. I waited for 2 hours because of their scheduler W. Smith made a mistake and was very rude to me just as before. She denied my services that day because she overlooked the mistake my insurance made. I had to complain to an office manager as her behavior is not exactable and they took care of me. I just don't know why USC tolerates this employee? She should not be working with patients. She has no manners, no compassion and very very rude. Let's see what comes ahead but for now I'm glad I was able to see Dr Ferzandi

edit: Customer service offered me to email about the problem to them, but I didn't get any response.
Keck staffers haven't been able to do basic things.
One staff member completely lied to me. And two transferred me to each other. The staff member did twice. Also, I couldn't even get going in their healthcare system because of an administrative failure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

GOOD PLACE TO GO FOR OUTPATIENT PROCEDURE
===============================
I took my husband there for an outpatient medical procedure and it was good except for the horrible traffic and blocked train track intersections getting there.
We refuse to go to USC Verdugo Hills Hospital again after several problems and no real help from administration at the head office. We sent letters and had phone calls with the big wigs and they still did not apologize. Needless to say we weren't thrilled to go to USC again, but you have to go where your doctor has privileges. We prefer Cedars Sinai Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.
My husband's ortho doctor recommended a pain management doctor who does procedures at the Keck USC main medical campus and he was great. We were in and out within two hours. Getting there is a royal pain with traffic and the parked trains blocking lots of side streets so give yourself plenty of time.
Heading back to the Crescenta Valley it was way easier taking Mission St. to Huntington Drive to Monterrey and then the 110 North. But entering the 110 freeway from a complete stop is scary. You definitely need to floor it in sport mode to enter the freeway.
I didn't upload the parking ap in advance, so we just used the nice valet parking. It was $12 for patients I believe. If you aren't a patient it is $20.00.
All the campus staff were very nice.
Note: If you are going there on the Golden State 5 Freeway do not exit on Main. Exit on the next exit south of Main due to trains blocking side street crossings.Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 1Business owner information

3/20/23 Care for the Caregiver Program is geared to serve as support for all who care for our patients at the Keck Medicine of USC, one of which is the 10 minute chair massage.
I have taken advantage of this perk a few months back & it was amazing Today was just as glorious! Oh Em Gee!!! Robert was my masseuse, for a 10 minute massage--he made the best use of time & energy to work out the soreness & ache on my shoulders & back- phenomenal!! I'll have to get this done periodically to destress while at work!!
Thanks to this perk, KECK MEDICINE OF USC, love it!!Helpful 24Thanks 3Love this 26Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Jennifer, thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we always enjoy reading about a good experience!
May 4, 2022Previous review5/4/22 Taking a quick break from a busy work day. Here I am walking the grounds at the beautiful Medical Center. I feel safe and happy to be here.
This company is growing & taking the world by storm. I am proud to be a part of it. I have recently referred a family member for a second opinion & was quickly reminded that this facility is a wonderful place not just as a unit of employment but also as a place to be restored and cared for by caring professionals who treat you like a special member of its family. I have never been more proud to be a part of this Trojan family.
Fight ON!!!Mar 3, 2022Previous review3/3/22 Took advantage of poke bowl Thursday at the cafeteria and it's definitely good eatin'!!! I usually work nights so I never get to see these offerings. Last week it was Sushi Thursday.
For $9.60 my poke bowl was packed with deliciousness. Had the option to have either tuna or salmon for the protein & I requested for half & half. What else is in this healthy power bowl? I opted not to have jalapeño & green onions but had: a scoop of steamed white rice, leafy greens, seaweed, crunchy fried onions, edemame, chopped mangoes, chopped cucumbers, and spicy sauce (I forgot what it was called but it finished it off nicely) and few sprinkles of sesame seeds. Quite a bit of chewing but ut was oh do worth it. It was really good a definitely filling.
The line was long (15 people deep) but the staff were on it and it went by quickly, friendly service.
For most people, hospitals aren't known for their great "hospital" food or cafeteria offerings but I thought since this is something pretty good, it's worth rating/reviewing. The fabulous folks who work at this hospital do a fantastic job at taking great care of patients and deserve food to nourish their bodies. Thank goodness for poke bowls Thursday. Hopefully I get to have sushi next week!Dec 23, 2021Previous review12/23/21 ***For patients & staff of KMC
Came in to go through the Covid testing tent at the back of the hospital (facing Hazard Park) to have peace of mind that I will not be spreading it and to see loved ones without fear of bring the "super spreader" (LOL).
It's easy peasy, you call the Covid Hotline, give necessary info, then you're on your way to the drive thru tent & results are called to in less than 24 hours. Or even sooner, you can check on your patient portal (sign up!) and you'll know before the day is over. And it's a PCR test, to date, most sensitive & accurate way to detect the virus.
Staff are efficient & all geared up in their personal protective equipments. You can call ahead atleast 7 days in advance to get the day you want to get tested (FIN or account numbers are good for 7 days). No need for an appt after that, just show up. They're open 7:30 am until 3 pm--check for holiday hours though. I really appreciate the service they provide, it's a Godsend.
Thank you Keck Medical Center of USC! The Nurses of USC really are a different breed of nurses - Erika F.Los Angeles, CA079103Oct 11, 2023
I can't say enough about our entire experience here at Keck medical center. My husband had to have an extensive amount of work done, due to his cancer diagnosis. Dr. Kulkarni and his team were amazing to say the least! I couldn't have chosen a better surgeon for my husband's liver and colon resection surgery.
The after care from the nurses the Surgeon and his team was incredible .I was able to stay with my husband every night throughout his stay and I was treated with such respect and they made sure I too was comfortable in the room. If I had to go to any hospital to get treatment and care, I will definitely choose Keck USC...they are the best! That hospital was home away from home for my husband and I for over 15 days . Thank you to the staff at Keck USC for the wonderful experience..but mostly thank you Dr. Sujit KulkarniHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

They are not from USC....bunch of doctors from far east with a minimum knowledge, you will be most likely be seen by a PA not a doctor
Be very careful. they charge you $800 for a visit and you need to pay the 20%. they are kind of dangerous. they have someone in every insurance very corrupted who approves the charge.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Be aware, they charge a separate "facility fee" which can almost double your bill regardless of the services rendered or who you saw.
Before you go be sure to ask if they're going to charge one, if they are please avoid!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

My father was admitted here when he had a heart attack and we couldn't be more thankful for the staff here at Keck Medical.
The staff was professional and informative. We would definitely recommended anyone to this facility because of the hardworking individuals that run this place. Parking was easy and I believe it was free parking during our stay here maybe because of Covid. The cafeteria was easy to access and the specialty areas we had to visit was within walking distance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information
