Thank you Kaizen Fitness and Rick Trevino!!! You are helping me get my life back on track. After I started having more and more medical issues. Problems I have never dealt with in my entire life- sleep apnea, nerve pain, and high blood pressure. I realized it was my body's way of telling me I need to make some serious changes or else...I started my fitness program in the worst shape I have ever been in. I won't say what my starting weight was, but it wasn't pretty!
I have been training for 3 mos now and have lost close to 30lbs and 11 inches over my entire body. I no longer have high blood pressure and my nerve pain has subsided tremendously. I am not yet where I want to be, but I am continuously improving little by little. Rick Trevino has taught me that fitness is not a hobby, but a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I workout at Kaizen Fitness 2x a week. These workouts are created specifically for me and the goals I'm trying to achieve. Every workout is different, which helps to keep things interesting and challenging at the same time. Rick has also created a personalized fitness plan for me to follow when I am not working-out at Kaizen. And I keep a food journal to incorporate healthy eating as well.
I struggled with my weight for many years. I thought I would be able to lose it on my own, until it just got out of control. I am thankful to Rick Trevino and Kaizen Fitness for helping me turn my life around. Rick you are the most professional and knowledgeable instructor. I am very satisfied with your service and trust your experience and expertise! I cannot say enough great things. But I think anyone interested in changing their life should give it a try. Rick offers a free trial workout for first timers. I know after one session you will see it is worth every penny!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 6, 2012
rick has been offering complimentary bootcamp at sunnyvale sports basement twice a month since july. his classes are approx. 45 minutes long and is a circuit training, bootcamp style class that incorporates strength conditioning and cardio. this class is suitable for all skill levels, and i would say it is definitely beginner friendly, while more advanced athletes can modify to make the exercises more challenging. some of the exercises that rick incorporates include: side lunges, tricep dips, burpees, and crunches with a medicine ball. he begins each class with a warmup and ends each session with a cooldown and stretch which ensures that we don't jump into the bootcamp with cold muscles.

I hope my review will eventually be displayed because I'd like others to receive the same benefit that I have over the years with Rick Trevino and Kaizen Fitness!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 7, 2012Previous reviewKaizen Fitness has truly changed my approach to health and fitness. Throughout the last 2 years, while working with Rick Trevino, I've maintained a 10 pound weight loss and successfully competed and completed multiple fitness challenges. Rick trained me for my very first 1/2 marathon, 10k trail run, USMC Mud run, and is currently preparing me for my very 1st Women's Nike Half Marathon in October! With Kaizen Fitness I've learned new, innovative fitness techniques and skills to challenge my body for continued improvements and results. Not only have I developed a new approach to fitness, but I've also learned to completely change my eating habits! Anyone who knew me before Kaizen Fitness can attest to the fact that my dietary habits have done a 180!! Instead of eating high-fat, processed foods, Rick has taught me that eating can be healthy AND fun!! I have a completely different lifestyle since working with Rick Trevino at Kaizen Fitness. I highly recommend Kaizen Fitness for those individuals that TRULY want to change their lifestyle, and not for just the immediate.....but indefinitely!!!

I recently went to a Kaizen bootcamp workout and it was AMAZING!
The workout was incredibly well planned out. There was 13 different obstacles all over the park with signs at each station explaining the specific exercise. Each obstacle provided a unique challenge! There was a rope to climb up at one station, tires to throw at another, ab exercises at yet another, and the list went on. The instructors Jon and Rick also demonstrated how to complete each obstacle, and the modifications for each station.
There were about 16 people completing the workout with me. We all completed a thorough warm-up together and then went through as many stations as possible in 30 minutes. I was able to make it through every station once, and then I went back to five of my favorite stations. It was really awesome that I was able to complete the workout in a group setting, yet have it so personalized! After the workout we cooled down together and stretched. It was a challenging workout, but Jon and Rick were incredibly encouraging! Both instructors went around throughout the workout motivating individuals and ensuring everyone was completing the exercises safely. I will definitely be back to Kaizen for another bootcamp!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris B.San Jose, CA4265Feb 11, 2014
If you are looking for a fun way to get back into shape or if you are bored with your workout routine then you should get in touch with Rick Trevino.
I've been doing group classes with him and a few friends for a few months now and we always work up a good sweat and feel sore the next day - the good kind that feels like you accomplished something.
Rick excels at organizing the class into an array of cardio, core, agility, and strength movements that challenge the body in all of those aspects. Rick does a fantastic job demoing the workouts and leads by example by working harder than any of us during the class - gotta practice what you preach!
I've learned a lot of new variations to power lifts, core stability drills, and agility ladder drills since I started working with him. I can feel workouts getting easier as we continue to train together, which he handles just fine by progressing our movements in order to that take our fitness to the next level.
If you want a motivated trainer that genuinely is interested in making workouts a fun and team-building experience, look no further. Thanks for all your help Trevino!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steve N.San Ramon, CA6895771445Oct 23, 2012
I attended Rick's bootcamp at Sports Basement. I've tried many different forms of working out...from your typical bodybuilding routines to CrossFit to HIIT. His full body circuit workouts were enjoyable and fun. They were different from what I was used to. It was definitely a nice change up from mundane workouts I was doing at the gym. Classes sizes were small, which was good because you felt like he was giving you a lot of personal attention. He was quite the motivator and explained exercises in detail. Definitely would recommend him to anyone looking to get in shape!

I had an opportunity to attend a 2-class boot camp session through Sports Basement in the Bay Area. These classes were part of a special introductory offer and free to those who haven't been trained by Rick earlier.
On the first day, we did some warm-ups followed by a circuit workout, then a benchmark test, and finally, cool down. Throughout the class, Rick was very patient with the participants, most of whom were new to boot camp, myself included. He explained every exercise multiple times and made sure that all of us knew each others' name. What I particularly liked about Rick is that he is very energetic and a happy person who seem to be dedicated to the sport of fitness.
The second class had more variety than the first one as less hand-holding was needed. I completed this class also without a hitch and improved the # of repetitions in the benchmark test. At the end, Rick also took a group photograph to post on his Facebook page and also on his website. Overall, I enjoyed having Rick as my coach and would have certainly benefitted more had I continued with his boot camp. But I am already go to my company gym and needed a break during the winter weather. I'd certainly consider Kaizen Fitness if I decide to go for boot camp classes in the future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elaine I.San Mateo, CA011Feb 25, 2013
Last fall I attended the Kaizen Boot Camp through Sports Basement. I meant to write a review back then, but time got away from me. The class was well-organized and fun! Rick has a terrific attitude and is motivating and encouraging. I appreciated his attention to detail and his knowledge of proper technique. I also worked with Rick to have a personal fitness assessment evaluation done, and that was really helpful. I strongly endorse Rick Trevino as a trainer, and encourage folks to check out his various boot camps!

I have been working with Rick for around six months now. He is professional and fun, and more knowledgeable in his field than anyone I have encountered previously.
My occupation requires me to maintain a high level of physical fitness, and with my busy schedule, that is sometimes hard to do. But not with Rick. Not only did he cater to my fitness goals (i.e. core strengthening, flexibility, cardio endurance, balance, etc.) Rick also has the priceless ability to adapt to my crazy schedule. I started going to his Sunday morning Group Session. There I got a great workout, and met some incredible people too! When weekends started to be problematic for me, I switched to Private Sessions. His facility is clean and well organized. Rick did an excellent job improving the problems I was having, particularly with my back. Lately as my time available to go workout has all but completely disappeared, I've been able to participate in Online Workouts with Rick. It's so easy to use the free software (I used Skype) and it is unbelievably convenient. I can put my laptop in my backyard or living room and still get a fantastic workout without ever leaving my home.
I have, and will continue to recommend Rick and Kaizen Fitness to anyone who is interested in improving their body, and/or (as Rick would say) their lifestyle.
I give Kaizen Fitness five stars!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
