Good Comfort Food and Plenty of Choises
It's been ages since I've dined at a K & W but back when our kitchen was being remodeled, we ate at K & W three and four days a week. We had one in Cornelius which was a bit of an odd location but the gentleman (now deceased) who owned K & W had a second home on Lake Norman right down the street from this store.
I spotted this location a couple of weeks ago when I was in the area and was intrigued because I had never seen a K & W with a drive though.
Did not indulge in the drive through and dined in instead.
It's a bit smaller than most K & W's I used to but still plenty of choices. Nice dining room and the staff is constantly circulating through the room to insure you have what you need.
Started out with a nice shredded lettuce salad. Good salad but only came with one piece of tomato and a tiny bit of green pepper. Dressing is not homemade but rather comes in a pouch. Still a good start even if it was average.
Among entrees, a number I have not seen in years and when I saw the Chicken Livers with Onion, I was sold. For sides I had the Sweet Potato Souffle and the Broccoli with Cheese Sauce.
The Chicken Livers were great. Nice and meaty and not overcooked. Still nice and moist. I know that Chicken Livers are not favored by everyone but if you like Chicken Livers, you will enjoy these.
The Sweet Potato Souffle was great. On the other hand and I should know better, the Broccoli was cooked to a mush totally devoid of taste and texture. Reason I said, should have know better, had the same experience the last time I dined at the K & W in Statesville.
Next time will learn my lesson, skip the Broccoli and move on to something else.
All and all, a very good meal, in a fairly new and clean restaurant with good attentive service at a great price.
Just off I-40 to the north but pay attention, you have to turn right at the first intersection and it's right down the street.Helpful 22Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Michael S.Fort Meade, MD87192Feb 4, 2017
The only reason it's not 1 star is delicious chicken livers & okra. Negative reviews for the tepid bland macaroni & cheese, water logged broccoli & cold white meat chicken, void of flavor gravy & rolls. Kudos for the apple pie & sweet tea. The staff is efficient in their tasks and music is just numbing...

The employees did not care about the patrons. The carry out was closed which delayed the whole operation. There was a lot of items that had not been replaced. One of my very big complaints was the food was not even warm. Saw people trying to get the food warmed up which never should have happened. This did not happen at closing but happened at 7:00 PM. Maybe this place should close as I saw people leaving for somewhere else.

The food was very good, fresh and hot. Staff was friendly and helpful. On this day I also had a pineapple cake and that was fantastic! Fresh and not overly sweet. I will be back.

Not bad. Standard kw fare. Cozy. Not a full-blown kw but their "cafe." If you like kw, and my son loves it, then this is the place. No complaints

Worst K&W experience I've ever had. Our chicken was cold in the middle. All of it. Food safety says it must be kept 135 degrees or more and this was cold. My wife took hers to management and they offered to microwave it. The microwave is under the counter where you pay like some sort of crappy motel or something. Very unsafe food conditions and worst of all...nobody seems to care. NEVER eat here if you care about your health!

I don't recommend the K&W Cafe unless you like overcooked meat and vegetables boiled until they are clear with your 50's Christmas music/Faux Snooze medley. But the tap water tastes good. . .
Seriously, both Frosty the Snowman and Fox were audible from my seat. It's like Christmas declared war on me.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Barrie B.Winston-Salem, NC301Jun 17, 2017
Awful customer service. I went two days in a row asking for a full pie. They said it would be ready the next day. I went the next day around 2 pm and they said they are not set yet, come back after 5. I even asked if I should call first. They said they would have it for sure. After 5 pm, shocker - they didn't have it and the person had no idea when they would have one!!!! How ridiculous! Will NEVER go there for anything again.
