This place never disappoints!
It is always well stocked with hard to find items and the staff very helpful.
The fresh produce, meat and seafood is worth the visit alone.
Ambiance is full of good music and the patrons are pleasant and chatty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - April P.Washington, DC2152781478Mar 12, 2024
I came here 3-12-24 from volunteering at Church!! this was my first time here and it's amaaaazing. The service is so helpful and omg I was getting snap peas and Ming beans for my noodles & shrimp but it was a lot in a pack and they can cut it in half !!! (I've never had that from any other markets!! usually you have to buy as is !! ). It's very cleaned and they have everything!! Omggg and I'm too hyped they have the hugest thickest Lamb chops!! & it's HALAL!! (I gotta come back!! ). They even have a Butcher Shop!!! Which isn't in ANY of of the ones I've visited!! Usually it's all fresh seafood so this made me hype!! & they have a cut chart which was cool you know what you're getting like when Texas Roadhouse tells you to pick out your steaks . The Ambiance is Food!! everywhere neatly presented I must say!! , Some ppl speak English and they have regular ppl walking around as well to help! everything is wrapped tightly and they have portions of literally EVERYTHING that comes with a WHOLE Animal chileee!!! IMPRESSIVE!! I didn't walk around the entire place cuz I was on a time frame but I'm definitely returning to here!!

If your culture is non-American this is a great place to grocery shop for back home spices & fruits. They have a fresh fish market where they scale the fish for you. They also have fresh & LIVELY crabs for sale. I'm not sure if they steam them or not...
This is my go-to when I need to make green seasoning or need to purchase reasonably priced Asian and West Indian ingredientsHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe J.Temple Hills, MD01Nov 22, 2023
Best ethnic food this side of town and always fresh , only problem the seafood dept close too early.

Bought some dried hibiscus and whole kernel allspice (pimento) to make Sorrel. Love all the oddities you can find here.... including a serious BADIA collection most stores can't touch.
They didn't have the right kinda udon noodles I need for my chicken soup so I'll head on over the Lotte Market for that.
Love Jumbo.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Mar 11, 2019Previous reviewThis place....uhm....
This place has a 3rd world village smell that hits you immediately upon entry. Mostly fish, and other things, and it gets your attention right away. You won't pass out, but be forewarned it doesn't smell like Neiman Marcus at Christmas time when you hit the door.
Been here a number of times over the years for some of those hard to find items that conventional grocery stores don't carry - or maybe not carry at the prices Jumbo does. I have lots of Carribean & African friends and associates and I'm pretty sure someone from Trinidad put me onto this place maybe 15 or so years ago for some strange item she was looking for for a dish.
It's an ethnic market & grocery store. One of many such small markets independently owned around the DMV. This one is on the larger side though. Perhaps hence the name. It's like the United Nations when you walk in there too. People from every corner of the world represented. It's very much in the spirit of Red Apple Market in Hyattsville and Central Supermercado in Alexandria. Markets like this are important to the lifeblood and culinary richness of any community. After all, it's not like you're gonna find goat meat or (live) land crabs at Safeway, Weis, Food Lion or Giant lol.
I've gotten seafood here, frozen oxtails and frozen goat meat, dried sorrel (a.k.a. dried hibiscus), fish of all kinds, produce, durables and many other (conventional) items available in local grocery stores. Difference being, often Jumbo will also have the "international" brand(s) of curry powder, for example, when you're looking for something other than McCormick's stuff....or MILO...when you don't want NesQuik's or Ovaltine's hot chocolate powder. Good way to maintain that connection to home for those wanting it.
If you're looking for something unusual that swims, walks, flies or crawls...or for a special herb or spice to cook with it or cast a spell on someone (lol), chances are good Jumbo either sells it or knows where you can find it. The quality (on the meats esp) can be suspect sometimes so be mindful. Nothing unusual there either though for such markets. This isn't Whole Foods or Wegmans so watch your step in here. It's a great value and awesome resource if you're a good shopper. - Darnita M.Gaithersburg, MD92Jul 5, 2022

This is an International grocery store. Wide variety of American, Mexican, and Asian products. They have different cuts of meat great for adobo. I saw some cooked and uncooked chitterlings....not a fan. Good size seafood area selling fresh shrimp, stone crabs, mussels, and cod fish. The only the downfall was the rancid odor, I can handle fishy odor but the smell was rotten to me - maybe better cleaning or use of disinfectant at the end of the day.
Impressive veggie and fruit selection. However, the oranges were a bit soft and spotty. Located in a shady area with trash in the parking lot. Avoid at night or have somebody with you. The 4 star rating is for living up to its name - international food store.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Antwon J.Suitland-Silver Hill, MD11175Aug 25, 2022
The new people in the seafood apartment don't care as much as the old people did a year ago they don't clean they just leave dead crabs in the barrel refusing to clean them out
