I wanted my backyard done with a constraint budget.
These guy got it done CHEAP, RIGHT AND QUICK. It was under my budget and a lot lower compared to other companies that I contacted for quote. The work was finished in only 2 days plus a meeting to do walk-through. It was pretty, exactly what I had in mind.
I totally recommend these guys for any of your project.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Josh B.Schertz, TX310Aug 7, 2016
We called John's Landscaping about a year ago to have them redo some of our beds, fix sprinklers, add landscape lighting in the front and back of our house. They did a phenomenal job that transformed the look and feel of our home's exterior.
Both John and Chris are amazing at what they do, and we're having them create a whole new bed that runs the length of our side fence to give us a nice privacy hedge. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done!
Also, we signed up for their maintenance crew to come out twice a month and keep our beds and yard weed free, the grass under control, and everything just looking its best. Thanks guys for all your hard work!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marisol R.San Antonio, TX0184Apr 5, 2017
Unfortunately we did not have a good response from Johns Landscaping company. We called the company to request a free quote (as is stated on their website). They did come out and said they would email a proposal... this was 7 days ago. Between my husband and I we called a couple times (left voicemails) for a follow up and no one ever got back to us.

Chris showed up within a few days of talking on the phone. We talked about the project and he was very patient with my wife and I, as we really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. He presented the facts such as approximate cost for labor and materials and the trade-offs between different approaches. We really appreciated that he didn't try to "upsell" us. The process has been a pleasure.

We had our front lawn and beds re-done by Johns, rocks, new plants, mulch, the works. They did excellent work. The crew worked hard and they all knew what they were doing. John was very good to work with as far as making recommendations and suggestions. Our front lawn and beds look fantastic now.
Highly recommend John's Landscaping.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patrice H.Canyon Lake, TX02Oct 2, 2017
I reached out to John's Landscaping for a design plan for our new custom home. Chris met me on site for a consultation; when we left he told me I would be receiving a quote in a couple weeks. This was on 6/3/17. I followed up with Chris via email with the additional plot plans he requested. He let me know on 6/23/17 that he was still working on our plan, but that it would be ready in a week or two. I wasn't too concerned since we had a little time before the house was to be finished. To date, I have received nothing from Chris - not even a response when I emailed him on 9/18/17 asking if his company was still interested in bidding on the job. Be careful - the initial consultation is great and they'll tell you everything is going to be amazing. Then you'll never hear from them again.

We have had three fairly big projects done by John's over the past 9 months, and have been very satisfied with their work. They always show up when they say they are and have full crew ready to go. During one the projects, we were not satisfied with one of the items that was installed. I called John and Chris and the item was promptly replaced within a day! Great customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

This was one of the few companies that would even call back or respond positively after we said we were just interested in a design plan and not contracting for further services. Chris (co-owner) came out and was extremely professional. Never did he give the impression that he devalued us or our project because of our budget or the DIY project we wanted. Chris listened to our needs and had a plan to us within a couple of weeks. He made certain to listen to our concerns about gaining HOA approval and the scope of the project. Knowing we wanted to complete the work ourselves, he offered suggestions on landscaping and nursery stores near our house that had good reputations and fair pricing. He did provide a quote, should we decide to have their company complete the work, which was very fair and not over inflated. Chris never pushed us to contract further with them. The final design was more than a plan, it was a well-crafted landscape rich in colors, textures, and shapes - a natural artwork. Wonderful people, very honest, outstanding quality. Highly, highly recommend.

I purchased a pretty expensive Groupon for work to be done at my home. John came by and was very nice and made great notes for what they would do and even wrote up notes for a possible follow on job so it included an extimate. he was with me all of 10 minutes. It took awhile to schedule the workers to come and do the yard and they only did part o what was written down by John and every single bush was a different height when suposedly they were done. They didn't trim any of the trees promised. When i called the office and was told they would be back the next day, it turned out to be the next week. They only trimmed 2 trees and left all others uneven and untrimmed. Then they have the nerve to bill me the tax fro this terrible work. Of course, no return phone call from John. I would NEVER recommend them. So much for the follow up job - I'll find someone wh will complete the job!

We not only provided the services that were offered in the "groupon" but we went beyond our scope of work in order to please this customer. Trimming extra items that were not on the original work order.
The groupon that we offered was for $199.00 for a Spring/Fall cean up.
Sales tax is always collected and sent directly to the State of Texas as required by law. (can't really be upset with us about having to pay the sales tax)
I feel we did a great job on our trimming just as we always do!
We are always here for our customers!!

Hello,
Let me start by saying that overall the work performed did resolve the issue around my deck area, specifically mud and dirt are now covered with flagstone and what's left of the decomposed granite; however, the warranty work was unacceptable. The installation of the material and labor was quite expensive, but based on reviews and pictures from other customers, meeting with other contractors, I was willing to pay to have this done correctly. I understand you are busy, but I will not use or recommend your company again for the following reasons:
1) I waited for over a month for the warranty work to be done.
2) A day before the date of the scheduled warranty work, I had to reach out to your office for confirmation (twice) and was told the work was scheduled for late in the day, but no verifiable time was given. I did want to talk to either John or Chris before they began to work on the area, and Alma said someone would call. I told Alma I would leave the gate open to the backyard for access to the area since I had assumed the work would be done in the morning and I had already scheduled time off in the morning to be here for both your employees and to have my a/c spring checkup at the same time.
3) I arrived at my home at 4:00pm. There were four (4) employees onsite. I have no way of knowing if more decomposed granite was truly brought in, but I would say not. The area had been swept and cleaned of debris (leaves, small branch pieces) and everyone was on their cell phones. I asked the employee who appeared to be in charge if John would be coming by (he said no). There was a container of the sealant (probably 2 gallons) which one employee was spreading. I asked how long it would take to dry and they didn't know, so I read the container to get the information myself. After 45 minutes, while watching from inside, while most everyone stayed on their cell phones, it was announced they were done and leaving. So, I look at the area, and it is perfectly obvious that a little less than half of the area was treated with the sealant, as this is a wet product and you can tell the difference from the wet/dry area.
4) At no time since the warranty work has anyone contacted me. The container of sealant was not enough to cover the entire area. I have purchased a 5-gallon container of commercial sealant (the same as your employees brought) and done this myself this past weekend as I had to wait for the product to be shipped and for me to find the time early in the morning to do this.
I work for a commercial plumbing contractor. We do not warranty half a water heater or half of a broken water line. We are busy, but we make sure if our customer is unhappy for any reason, we take care of it immediately and our Service Manager contacts the customer to make sure the work is done to their satisfaction. We do not allow our employees to sit around on their cell phones while the customer is onsite (you would think your employees would be smart enough to figure this out) and why four employees were needed.
As I said, the overall problem is solved, but there has been no customer service since you've been paid.
Thank you,
Lisa DeMichele (Coley)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
