Johnny Bears is way better than Johnny Rockets. Trust me. Julie S is right. Could easily become a favourite. Listen to Deanna. About everything. Anytime a girl named Deanna tells you to do something, you do it. Trust me. And Deena too. Hi Deena. ;)
In one of those "Jackass" videos, I noticed that Mr. Knoxville was completely naked. They called it "Johnny Bear's All." I know, that's bad spelling and punctuation, but that's America for you. There's nothing more Mur'can than bad spelin an puntyouashun. This business is named after that video, although - thankfully - you will not find any naked guys inside. Not even at the best of times. Speaking of American... they were open on July 4! How American is that! Capitalism over celebration! Woo! But if they're really good capitalists, they should probably charge more because everything is dirt freaking cheap.
What to get: Custard and a burger
What else: I already told you what to get, what more do you want from me
And what else: At night, do Indians sleep on Pillow rice?
Really close to Six Flags and Darien Lake. Fantastic little roadside fast food diner that looks very 50s. Tiny little bathrooms and the hot water is scalding so be careful. I didn't know this existed... I was just driving by and I stumbled upon it. Don't you love when that happens?
You should read JFK's autobiography by the way. You'll be amazed at some of what Johnny Bares.
This was the first food stop on my July 4th Food Tour. I ordered a baby size custard and it was the size of a house. I ordered a burger with everything on it, except cheese. Everything included let, tom, on, ket, mus, may, rel, pick, and I think that's about all. Plus it tasted of spicy pepper. Which was awesome. My total was $6. Fantastic price. It took 15 mins to make the burger, but I'm not complaining.
I'm currently in the process of breaking up with Depp. I dump him and then date him every other day. I'm trying to mess with his head and heart. I just wanna see how much Jonny Bears before he gives up on me. Or if it'll be Un-Jonny-Bear-able soon.
While I was waiting, a family were playing music trivia. "Which band outsold the Beatles in x and y year." They all guessed, they couldn't figure it out. I raised my hand. "Yes?" said the mother. "The Monkees!" Everyone laughed out loud. It was a Kodak moment, except we weren't in Rochester and nobody had a Kodak so... alas. I was right, of course. Goes without saying. Right?
I fell into a ring of fire and needed a Beer. So I asked Johnny Cash to get me one. He has his own line of Beers by the way. Johnny Beers.
So. As I was saying. Fantastic price. And the custard was some of the best I've had in the Buffalo area. I think the only ones that rival it are Green Acres, Red Caboose, and Abbott's. So there. The custard here is yellowy, and it's just better and creamier and custardier than in other places. I invented a word. Awesommmmmmmme.
I got tired of listening to Johnny Carson to be honest. No wonder this place is named "Johnny Bores."
The burger was similarly delicious. It was so peppery and tasty. I'm not sure how he did it. Now it wasn't the best burger I ever had but it was pretty damn good, and a 5-star wet juicy fast food style burger. Awesome. Plus I love that they were open on July 4, so I got some fooooooooooooood!
And look out for electronic robot bears here. They're indigenous to Darien Center. They're known as "Johnny 5 Bears."
So come on out to Darien Center and enjoy. The parking lot is a hangout for locals and bikers. Don't be afraid though. If you're lucky, they'll drag you into an alley and have their way. Actually there aren't any alleys so don't expect any action. Sorry to disappoint you. And the bathrooms are tiny too so that's a no go. Ah well. At least you can console yourself by putting the meat from a burger in your mouth instead.
And look out for Johnny Manziel. He's about to be traded to Chicago. If you don't believe me, just go to google and type in "Johnny Bears."Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 31Oh no 0 - Natalie S.Lima, NY10163Oct 11, 2018
Onion petals are phenomenal even though they were greasy. Both of us ordered the bacon blue burger. The burgers were cooked well. Blue cheese was a dressing not crumbles. Sweet potato fries were crispy and hot. Vanilla milkshake was creamy dreamy and delicious.
Staff was very friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C O.Buffalo, NY0202Nov 1, 2018Updated review
Update on previous review.
We've been in two more times.since my previous review. One was great!!! Fries (yep, we tried again....haha) crispy and delicious. Greasy as they should be but not gross-greasy.
The second time they were kinda soft and could have been crisper, but overall....still better than trip number one. Friendly folks. Great ice cream. Well be back. I think.the fries kinda depends on who makes them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 14, 2017Previous reviewSUPER GREASY. SUPER. Food was ok, but I could only eat a little bit of it due to the grease factor (fries, grilled cheese our kid got) Eeek! So greasy! I worked in food service, I think the fat in the fryer wasn't hot enough to cook the fries before they absorbed a ton of grease. The ice cream is pretty good, lots of choices, Perrys. We will probably go back, but not get fries. Friendly folks. Clean...watch out for the bathroom hot tap, as another reviewer mentioned WAYYYY too hot, kids could be scalded. Other than that, no issues. It's really the only game ion town, and worth a stop if you want a burger and ice cream. They looked really good.

Stopped by here when I was in Darien and had an excellent experience. Great food, prices, and family-like atmosphere. Will be going back soon .

Came here because I seen on the website the hours and stuff I went here they were closed but a guy proceeded to tell me it's not the site for the place yet it has the same address and phone number and name! He had a very nasty attitude and now I see why they are selling the place the people here are horrible so I'm assuming they don't get much business from locals.

Salads are discussing. All iceberg and cafeteria style. Subway style subs. Got a Turkey club no bacon. One of our girls got a tuna sub. That she said was ok. Hot dogs were good. They could so step up what they do and become a way better food place. I think food at Darien would of been better.

My co-workers and I would always stop by after work in the summer for the ice cream. Ice cream specialties (Cyclone) are a bit pricey but they're delicious. I actually do like they're food a lot. Again, the food is pricey. I think they should give you fries with your sandwich order, because they currently do not and I'm not going to spend another $3+ on fries when I've spent between $8-10 on a sandwich.

This is the kind of place that will become a local favorite--it's super friendly and non-pretentious while serving big satisfying portions of fresh and delicious foods. The menu is full of comfort ffare--burgers, chicken fingers, soups, sandwiches, and salads--that can be customized to tastes and appetites. I ordered a baby burger (1 patty) with tomatoes and pickles and fries and was impressed by the freshness and flavor. The burger was hot, thick, and juicy, and the bun had that distinctive mix of softness and chewiness that comes from bakery-made rolls. The ribbon-cut fries were potato-chip like in crunchiness and texture, but were much more fun to eat (and share!). You'll see what I mean.
If you hate burgers and fries, at least come for the milkshakes made of real, locally made Perry's ice cream. They are creamy and delicious, and the staff will cheerily mix ice-cream flavors and malts to your exact specifications.
So, try it out! This place could quickly become your favorite family hang-out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 287595357Jul 6, 2013
Was headed to a concert at Darien Lake and did a google search for a place to grab dinner beforehand. This was the only place that came up, so we tried it out. It had sandwiches, burgers, salads, ice cream, etc. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Very casual dining. I was excited to have fresh cut fries, but sad that they came cold. We both ordered a Pittsburgh salad ($7), but it was nothing special. I have had many Pittsburgh salads at other places that were much bigger and better. I think we should have just stuck to the burgers/sandwiches, which is what they appeared to be known for.
