He is so knowledgeable and so comforting. He probably saved my life by catching a problem that my primary wasn't really bothering with. I wish I could clone him. Everyone should have a doctor like Joel Feinstein. I saw him during the pandemic, and I'm looking forward to our next appointment.

As a person over 50, it was time for the colonoscopy.
Dr Feinstein make the process very simple.
He took his time in the initial consult to make sure that I knew what was going to happen and answered all questions and made me feel at ease.
He is one of the best doctors I have ever been to.
As for the process itself--easy, painless and quick.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly G.Los Angeles, CA018Jul 23, 2021
I am not a patient. I wanted to be because I like what I read about the doctor. However I called twice to get some basic information and the same lady I spoke to both times I called was indifferent, unhelpful and somewhat rude. I wanted some basic information about what is covered and protocol after the procedure. It seemed like I was bothering her and for the most part my questions went unanswered. Any other time I have called a medical office people usually go out of their way to be friendly and helpful but unfortunately it is not the case here. Can't image what it would be like if I had a procedure done and then had some problem I had to work through with her.

RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I am a Combat Veteran with problems from my time in Iraq.
Attempted to see this doctor under the Veterans Choice program. This jerk and his rude staff canceled my appointment 7 days before a badly needed appointment.
I had already been waiting for 4 weeks. Then tried to reschedule me 6 weeks from that.
Which is against VA policy.
OBVIOUS HE DOESNT WANT TO HELP VETERANS OR PAY VA RATES.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan G.Santa Monica, CA16176Apr 12, 2019
RUN! This is the second worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.
They tried to run an MRI or some kind of scan on me which was not needed, requested or wanted.
They made me wait 3.5 hours in the waiting room, after telling I would not be seen if I showed up 20 minutes late, because I had a meeting that was running long I had to leave early to rush over to them.
The doctor saw me for literally 90 seconds and dismissed my concern immediately.
THEN THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE SCAN I DID NOT GET!!!!! Submitted it to my insurance, which would have gone through, had I not been opening up my insurance summaries.
It was $1000!!
No one has apologized for the wait, the charges, the dismissal of my concern, the wasting of my time~!
Now they have been sending me follow up bills FOR A $15 BALANCE!

Dr. Feinstein is exceptional. I was recently referred to him for an endoscopy. I also chose to have a colonoscopy at the same time.
I had a thorough (quality) pre meeting with Dr. Feinstein and an even more thorough follow up meeting this Friday (8/2). Dr. Feinstein explained everything I needed to know in explicit detail. He was quite thorough and informative. I used another gastroenterologist 6 years ago for a similar procedure. It was a different experience not even close to what I witnessed with Dr. Feinstein.
I am so glad I found Dr. Feinstein. I will use him in the future with no question.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dawn B.Culver City, CA0113Oct 1, 2019
Dr Feinstein is our family gastroenterologist. He is kind, thoughtful and caring. He explains everything you need to know throughly and takes time the to answer all your questions.
He diagnosed my colon cancer during my routine screening. He was proactive in helping me navigate my treatment and connect me with a top notch team of doctors.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shayna S.West Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA11192Apr 1, 2019

I am a physician and as a physician I know who in the medical field is truly good and who isn't. Fortunately for me, I work with some of the best gastroenterologists around. When I developed a GI issue of my own I ultimately chose to see Dr. Feinstein, (I know him, I felt comfortable with him) and my experience with him only confirmed how excellent he really is.
Believe it or not, when a physician takes care of a fellow physician, any sort of special treatment often amounts to bad medicine where the caretaker will say to the patient, "Tell me what you want (i.e., lab tests, medical procedures) and I'll get it done for you," essentially placing the care back in the hands of the patient. I quickly realized this was not going to be the case with Dr. Feinstein. I had already told him the short story of my symptoms. I assumed this would automatically lead to an upper and lower scope procedure. Instead, he took great care in taking a detailed history, asking a lot of questions and being careful to explain what he was thinking and why certain questions were being asked. I was genuinely impressed by his thoroughness, his vast medical knowledge and the amount of time he dedicated to me for what I thought might be a simple problem.
In the end, I felt confident in the care and advice I had received from Dr. Feinstein. If I can distill my experience with him (his professionalism, attentiveness, intelligence) into one overarching thought, it would be that I felt Dr. Feinstein was fully invested in me and in my health. Sometimes when you meet someone you wonder what motivates them and the work they do. Dr. Feinstein seems motivated to do the best for his patient.
He is a true gentleman and a gem of a doctor!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Scott W.Palmdale, CA10262200Nov 27, 2017Updated review
Despite being listed be the veterans administration as a preferred doctor they told me he no longer accepts veteran patients. His positive reviews drew me to see him but based on his unwillingness to treat veterans I have to give the lowest rating possible
Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 13, 2017Previous reviewAfter reading his great reviews I called in to request an appointment. I'm a veteran and unfortunately he doesn't take that insurance
This review is based solely on his refusal to help veterans, not his skill as a doctor
