Love their food. It's always the next level up. It's a treat and the missus and I frequently look for a reason to splurge and feed there. Sure I could have used the word fine but I'm not that pretentious. Lol

We came to eat here to celebrate a birthday. We made a reservation to make sure we secured a spot and listed it as a birthday special occasion. They were very busy because they had a private wedding event upstairs. We were seated at the communal table which I found a bit strange due to us making a reservation and would have preferred an individual table. We also would have loved if they had asked about who's birthday it was or some mention of it due to me listing it in the reservation.
Our server was very friendly, but due to them being busy she would take a while to come take our order. I ordered the mahi mahi special which I loved with the sauce and sides. It was very rich in flavor and I enjoyed it all. Their coconut cake was very moist and tasted just like you'd expect! My favorite dessert though was the creme brulee I would definitely come back just for that!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 2024
Home-y Italian restaurant with good food.
They were kind enough to let us sit down to dine despite them closing in 15 minutes. We were scrambling to just find a place to eat at that point so we were not planning on taking our time because the last two options we had did not work out for us.
I got one of the specials which I believe was cod. The fish was super tender and with the sauce and capers, it was great. The sides were fine. The string beans were a little greasy for my liking but they were a nice crunchy contrast with the fish and potatoes.
I had a classic lime margarita which was twice the size I was expecting but I was not complaining.
I would say this place was nothing to write home about but it was good and the server treated us well!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan M.Santa Clarita, CA2212018Feb 26, 2024
Floor manager was attentive that we had a show to catch so she kept eye on the as the restaurant was busy.
Food was decent. I specifically asked that my salmon was to be slightly undercooked. When I received it, it was overcooked. My husband had the chicken curry which looked amazing, but the base of the sauce was very bland.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 2023
I reserved Jane for an intimate wedding reception on a Friday evening in January 2023. They have a special events booking that requires a $150+tax reservation fee and a contract for a pre-fixed evening meal that requires a 10 person minimum for a $50/person meal (we opted for the $50/per person meal and there's more beyond that) which we selected. We had 7 people at the event and we were able to take 3 meals to-go since we are paying for 10 people so why not.
I was in communication with Meagan, who is the special event coordinator, and she answered all my questions and charged me accordingly for the reservation fee. I also added the coconut cake ($110) to my dinner as well as additional specific wine bottles (3 wine bottles total so $125) to my dinner reservation.
I appreciated that they were able to reserve the upstairs dining area for our small intimate wedding dinner reception and we did have one committed server on our reservation; however, I didn't really like that other dining patrons were seated in the upstairs balcony area and passed by our special occasion dinner and our server was tending to them as well. I felt like our reservation to the special upstairs area wasn't "enough" and they were able to accommodate more customers upstairs and serve them but honestly, our dinner was almost ~$800 and we were not there the whole 5pm-9pm when reservation to our space was so they could have waited until after we left around after 7pm ish to let other dining customers pass through.
I saw that the candles weren't lit for our dinner table but that's fine because the restaurant literally opened at 5pm and that's when my family arrived for the dinner. I also saw that our server (who was phenomenal) asked my family if they wanted something from the wine menu list but it looks like it wasn't communicated to her that we already had the 3 wine bottles reserved in advanced or else she wouldn't have asked my family.
We also noticed my mother-in-law got a more rare steak and my sister got a more well done steak and perhaps the orders have gotten mixed up for the doneness of the filet mignon. Just wanted to pointed that out but overall we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our server did get our wine glasses glasses and cake cutting utensils cleaned during our dinner.
Our families and I enjoyed our dinner at Jane. We did appreciate the small intimate space it provided for our post wedding dinner reception, the service and the ambiance. It is best for people who can go up the stairs and I loved that they had 2 bathrooms available in the restaurant. We appreciate the special memories here for our special day :) Thank you!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 2 - Don T.Ventura, CA1412936Mar 30, 2024

My go-to spot when I'm in Santa Barbara. It's on the far end of State St but worth the walk. I dream about their chicken piccata (good portion, delicious sauce, moist chicken). Also had the burrata dish which had a unique sauce that I really enjoyed. Restaurant is very quaint with a lot of regulars it seems. I'd be a regular too if I lived nearby!

We visited Santa Barbara a few weeks ago, and this was our first official stop when we arrived. I got a glass of Cabernet and the linguine & clams. Omg it was incredible. I've eaten so much pasta in my life lol and this was hands down THE best pasta dish I've ever had. The dish came with sooo many clams, and they were all so fresh. The noodles were light and herbal and complemented the flavor of the clams. Best 26 bucks I ever spent!
I tried a few bites of the chicken piccata as well and thought the chicken was so tender and flavorful; my BF really really liked this dish.
This place is a classy but cozy fine-dining spot. A little bit pricey, but you're paying for high quality food made with very fresh ingredients in an upscaling dining environment. 10/10 recommend!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 5, 2022
Introduction:
A friend raved to me about this place and since I'm in the neighborhood, I decide to have my dinner here tonight.
Food:
Chicken Piccata:
Two thinly sliced, breaded, and herbed chicken that's stacked on top of one another. It is flavorful and very tender. The sauce is light and carries notes of lemon, garlic, and butter. Eating the chicken with the sauce makes it a delightful culinary experience. The fettucini is al-dente in texture. It is buttery, wholesome, and filling.
Price:
Reasonable
Service:
The staffs are courteous and accommodating.
Ambiance:
Casual, quaint, cozy, romantic
Advice:
When here I recommend getting a seat on their balcony where one can get a good view overlooking downtown Santa Barbara at night.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelley C.Santa Barbara, CA12922485Feb 9, 2024
It's been a while since I've been to Jane...a lot of years. With the way restaurants can come and go in SB, i am glad they are still here. It says a lot! I was a guest so hesitate to be critical but here goes. Everything was great. Filet cooked to perfection. Tender sea bass. Beautiful veggies. Delicious potatoes. One thought...I wonder if the pineapple salsa that topped my fish could've been lightly browned but not charred black? Pretty nasty. And clearly over done...just next time don't top beautiful sea bass with black pineapple. As I said, all else was delicious.
