First off, I will start out by saying I am extremely critical when it comes to my hair and I also had the same hairstylist for over a decade that retired last year... In my quest to find a new stylist, I tried three different salons within the last year and had only mediocre results, at best.
I became near frantic in my search for the perfect stylist, and very diligent in my homework. After a week of careful research, and looking at profiles of hundreds of stylists. (kid you not), and seeing her work and reviews, I settled on Salon Blissful and their stylist named Reem. All I can say is "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE"!!!! This woman is beyond talented and knew exactly what I was trying to achieve and even in my mind's eye, I could not have pictured more beautiful results!! She realized that I was a complete perfectionist and I could tell that she was as well and my hair is absolutely perfect! Legit the best cut I have had, EVER!! She was super sweet and gave me some great advice and really took her time to get to know me and my curly, crazy hair. I requested an appointment with a stylist who was familiar with short hair, specifically pixie cuts and could provide easy-to-style suggestions, scheduled for 03/02/2024. At the beginning of the appointment, the stylist & I discussed what type of style I was looking for, how I normally style my hair and the desired length. The stylist and I agreed on adding more body to the top, I was clear that I do not like for my hair to stand up/stick out and that I didn't want my bangs much shorter than they already were. The wash and cut went well, I was really enjoying the experience. After my hair was styled, I looked in the mirror and was shocked to see the complete opposite of what I asked for! My hair was spiked and sticking up all over the place, that awful cowlick I have to contend with is standing up like Alfafa. I told the stylist that I didn't like it, that I could see we had different pictures of what adding body would look like and reiterated that I do not like or want my hair sticking up/spiky. She proceeded to try and fix it. Thankfully, she was able to do damage control on the top but not so fortunate on the cowlick - which I have to be embarrassed about and feel blowing all over the place for the next 2-3 weeks. Great. My bangs were cut much shorter than discussed and are completely uneven. I accepted the manager's offer of a discount, as my hair is shorter and I did receive about 35% of what I asked for, I still paid too much. Vanessa, the manager, provided her card and offered assistance in 2-3 weeks when my hair grows out some and we can start to fix.
I patiently waited at the front for an available associate to pay. I do not know what inspires someone to be a jerk to a customer who has just had a terrible experience and is visibly fighting back tears over their appearance, but boy was she inspired! I followed the instructions on the credit card machine, removed my card and began to leave thinking the transaction was complete and now I could get in my car and cry and scream because I was beyond frustrated. My hair is not what I asked for, not in a position I can fix it or style it, and I'm going to be looking like a hot mess for weeks!!! The associate then called me back with "ma'am, is there something on the screen?". I returned to the screen, signed, and pushed the button which caused the machine to turn slightly. As I was walking away, she scolded me to be more gentle. The machine is on a pole that swivels, you know the type: when you just try to type a pin number on the pad the machine will sway and turn, way more than I did by pushing the 'complete' button. I would have suggested she try to gain some empathy or customer service skills, but I would never presume to scold her when she was also clearly not having a good day. Taylor Nelson is my artist here & I go to her regularly for a cut, color, and style. I usually have reference photos & explain the vibe I'm trying to achieve. Let me tell you, the woman is an artist & genius. She listens to my concerns & does exactly what we plan at the beginning of the appt. I walk out of the salon a new woman, every time. I've done subdued to VERY BOLD multi-color looks/cuts. Taylor will take lovingly care of your hair & you can trust her upmost priority is making you feel loved, listened to, & more confident walking out.

We are back! My 85 y old mother loved my hair so much that she booked an appointment with Vanessa. Vanessa has done mother's hair for the past 3 months and I cannot go anywhere with my mom without someone stopping her to ask "Who does your hair?" Or to compliment her on her haircut. Vanessa left my mom's bangs long and chic in a side part and cut the rest in a pixie style. It is very easy for mom to manage while looking like she popped out of the salon everyday. She definitely had her work cut out for her with my re-growth and 3 different shades of blonde from 3 previous salons. Vanessa really listened to what I liked and more importantly, what I did not like. Cannot believe the cut and color Vanessa did today for a first time visit. Going back next Friday for a hair treatment. I cannot get enough of Salon Blissful. Please bring Botox to the Peoria Salon I AM READY!!
