Q:
Does the Boca Raton restaurant have outside seating?
A:
Q:
Is it my imagination or have some the portions been downsized? French dip has half the amount of prime rib than previous visits.
A:
Didn't notice any downsizing, been here often for a long time. It all depends on the time and who is doing the quality control at the kitchen counter. Some are cheaper then others. I haven't had a bad experience or portion size problem here. Hope… more

Love this place every time I am in south Florida I try to put this on my list of places to eat. Their salad alone is amazing and worth trying. The service I received tonight was top tier her name was.....
There was no wait at all I was sat right down even though I eat alone. I prefer the booth rather than the bar. It wasn't too noisy.
My bill came up to about 70 bucks cocktail, salad, entree.
They have really thick steaks, however this time I told them butterflied (a suggestion from a friend) and WOW it just melts in your mouth. 10/10 recommends to tell them butterflied next time you give them a try.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Kiamiah! It was a pleasure to serve you. We gladly share feedback like this with our Boca team so we can make your next visit worthy of 5 stars.
Sep 2, 2023Previous reviewWas in town during a business trip, I've heard people rave about this place so I tried it out. The steak was okay in my opinion definitely very thick and had a different taste I believe form the grill wasn't bad just different from what I had previously.
I must say their j Alexander salad was my ultimate favorite thing on the menu with that champagne vinaigrette*chef kiss* I was surprised at the flavor of their croutons how warm they were.
The restaurant was very busy I did wait for an hour before I was seated.
I will be visiting again just for that yummy salad. - Janet P.Boca Raton, FL092Jan 14, 2024
i have ordered uber eats several times from this place and they get the order wrong every time. they think i should go to the restaurant and retrieve my accurate meal! lol. hahah! what's the point of ordering uber eats & confirming my order 3 times only for it to come wrong and now they want me to drive to the restaurant to pick up my overpaid ubereats food! i don't get it. every manager has treated me and spoken to me as if i'm a child. then they here my true last name: perez!
although, i'm a native american, i get treated like a freakin immigrant!!!! not cool!!! i am officially boycotting this restaurant!
this wasn't the 1st time and every other time i thought it was me, but it's not. i'm not a karen. i'm just a native american and i guess these big corporations don't appreciate that! i'm done w/ j.a. nasty business!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I used to love this place but I feel like it's gone downhill especially in the salad department.
The salads used to be big as they are meal size salads with a much better presentation. They used to come in a beautiful bowl and beautifully presented. if you ordered salmon or shrimp on top of the salad, it was a dinner size portion.
This is the second time that I've had a dinner salad and it was disappointing
My girlfriend got the shrimp Louie salad and the lettuce was brown. The shrimp were very small and sad looking. It was just thrown together, like a five-year-old made it.
I had shrimp Louie with salmon instead of shrimp. The salmon tasted good. It was a very small piece and the salad presentation was really lacking!
I know that this is a popular place. It's great that you can make reservations there now. So perhaps the other entrées are a better choice but really guys a $20 salads ... you can do a little bit better.
How long does it take to put in a pretty bowl and arrange it nicely
How do you send out a salad without making sure that the lettuce is NOT brown???
Our service was great! It's a shame that food didn't match it.
You can do better!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jan 23, 2016Previous reviewLove J Alexanders. Almost like an upscale dinner. Great atmosphere, even better food love the salmon, couscous and veggie plate
Ask For James to be your waiter you'll be glad that you did. Tell him Beth sent you. - Nov 29, 2023
Taste: mixed bag for vegetarians; the artichoke appetizer is ludicrously delicious, fire roasted goodness with excellent oils, salts and dip, but their veggie burger is a bland giant pattie of mush.
Service: really excellent, swift, friendly, and spot-on
Decor: very modern and clean without being too stark or visually cold, actually almost cozy for such post-modern arena decor
Price: it's Boca pricing at its most Boca, everything is really $5 over fmv, even for this town
Beers: it's a wine and cocktail menu, no beers in sightHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The food is absolutely delicious, but you have to take into consideration if you're going to come in here on a busy weekend for the service to be slightly off. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday, at the end of our meal we realized that there were things that we had ordered that the server never brought out to us, when we brought this to his attention, his reply was simple "it's not on the bill, so don't worry about it ... wasn't the point, we wanted what we ordered, but fine, next time

I came here with two friends for lunch. Parking is difficult here. I had a weird experience. I ordered ahi tuna salad but when the tuna came to the table, the waiter by accident touched the wasabi with his arm and didn't say anything. I had to bring it to his attention to please go and get me a new plate. They also brought the other dish for my friend and she is allergic to bell peppers and the dish had bell peppers (it did not say that on the menu that it had that ingredient). Once everything got ironed out, the food was good. We took our time and we had a nice lunch. Just not sure the service was so good.

Sep 10, 2023Previous reviewDecided to meet our friends here for a nice evening out. We were not disappointed. I did reserve a table in advance and that is always a plus on a Friday night. Our waiter greeted us nicely and when we sat down he asked us immediately if we wanted a drink. We started with a drink and then we placed our orders for our meals (strip steak, chicken caesar salad, roast chicken). It did not disappoint. I did order coffee and that was the only thing I was not thrilled with. That was why I did not give it a 5 star . The waiter did agree to give us separate checks which was nice. The place was definitely hopping which was a nice vibe.
Oct 23, 2022Previous reviewWe went here after going to the movies at Cinemark and they served until 9:45 pm. We were vey happy with everything! I ordered an ahi tuna salad and the Asian Chicken salad! Both were delicious! And the waitress and the manager both made sure our food was up to standards! I just didn't give it 5 stars because I was told more than once that the kitchen closed at 9:45 pm and we had heard it the first time! I will be back again as the food is usually good and that's very positive for us!
Dec 17, 2021Previous reviewWe went here and had to be put on a waiting list for a table so we decided to sit at the bar. I didn't find the bar tender to be so friendly (it would only take a little to smile and get a better tip...) - We ordered a diet coke and a glass of rose, 2 side salads, ahi tuna filet with wasabi mayonnaise, a toto dipping serve and I substituted the steamed broccoli for the smashed potatoes. We also ordered a burger with no bread (they don't do lettuce wraps) and when all was brought out the broccoli was smothered in butter -so I sent it back and they brought out the steamed broccoli. The bar tender was not very friendly which didn't make me love being there. It was very busy all around which was nice. It is good to see people out and about. The parking is tough in this plaza but I got lucky and got a spot close to the restaurant.

We sat at the bar and our service was excellent. Great drinks! Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Lots of sides to choose from. We had the loaded baked potato and brussels sprouts..
The restaurant is open and decorated nicely . It's not too loud so you can have a conversation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

It's been 10 years since my first review of JAlexander's and a recent experience at an early Friday night promoted me to add a new review. Simply put, it was outstanding. And for my fellow Yelpers (Max is Back!) I infrequently use the term outstanding. And when I do, I mean it. I'm a straight-shooting simple guy from Brooklyn, so what I write will be to the point and (subjectively) objective.
Arrived at 4:15 with a reservation and was seated promptly. Several hostesses at reception desk, all young, tastefully dressed in similar outfits (corporate policy?) and offered a smile, although seemingly a forced one. Shown to a table by a serving station, while my reservation submission clearly states "Do Not Sit By Serving Station". Not a problem, moved one over away from serving station.
Their menu has been consistent over the last 10-15 years. Guess when you have consistent well prepared dishes which are popular with your clients, why switch them up. Daily specials are offered, but having dined here with some degree of frequency, many of the specials are not unique, and appear daily as their daily specials.
Over the years we have had the broiled salmon, half roasted chicken, broiled pork chops, burgers, entree sized salads, soups, and several different types of broiled fish. All the side dishes are interchangeable from the dish description, which is great. Their baked potatoes are hugely oversized, and can be ordered unloaded. The skinny French fries are delicious. Vegetables such as broccoli and string beans or a side of deliciously tasting ripe sliced tomatoes are a nice compliment. Their smashed Yukon potatoes cannot be equaled.
For this particular meal we each had broiled pork chops, one with smashed potatoes and the other with baked potatoe. The broccoli was prepared on point. The potato sides were delicious and if you look at my baked potato you'll wonder how many it could have fed. We ordered, for the first time, the breaded (fried) jumbo shrimp. They were, without a doubt, delicious, served with two made-in-house sauces. I was tempted to order a second portion but resisted my urge.
The roasted broiled baked pork chop was huge dish, with two humongous pork chops, prepared as order (well done), and the sauce was neither too sweet or spicy. We each only ate one chop and took the other back home, allowing us to enjoy another dinner the following night.
Bar drinks were superbly prepared. A Stoli dry martini, ordered very very very chilled (with ice slivers) was quickly brought to the table. It was a double, which gave my husband a buzz before he finished the first glass. The blue cheese stuffed large olives were on point. My draft beer was served icy cold. The martini was really well prepared, props to the bartender who prepared it and our waiter for clearly expressing how it was requested.
Ambience is pleasant. Quiet during off hours. Noisy at lunch. Mostly business folk and locals. At night, quite loud, especially at bar with TVs and folks drinking. And drinking and talking talking. Loud. And louder.
Have left for last our excellent server, Josh. He was articulate. Low-keyed but attentive at the appropriate times. Efficient. And actually, charming. Props to him. Management should recognize someone with his talents.
Over the years we have experienced many professional servers, which sets JAkexanders apart from other chain restaurants. We've also experienced some who, perhaps thinking they were being efficient, are actually abrupt and border on snarky and dismissive. This was not the case with Josh.
Looking forward to our next meal. And that's it, boys and girls.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information

Hi Max! We love hearing that you enjoyed the food and that Josh and our Boca location took excellent care of you. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
Aug 27, 2013Previous reviewI've been eating here for years and not posted a review. Here we go:
Boca location is close to home. Sometimes hit Ft Lauderdale if in the area. Menus the same, only difference is vibe. Boca older (so what else is new), Ft Lauderdale more hip, gay, and diverse.
Accepts No reservations. Can be long wait in season. I walk out if that us the case, too many other options in the area.
For a "chain" restaurant this one works fine. All the servers are well trained, courteous, but not overly friendly. They'll engage you in convo if you initiate it, but within limits. Boca is a bit tighter staff, it seems. A few server staff in Ft Lauderdale around for years, they seem to remember me and partner and even if they really don't, it is good way to treat a guest. Works for me.
Food is consistent, nothing to complain about. Like the Broiled Salmon (I'm a fan of it and order at many restaurants), although the cut is somewhat small. Sides on all entrees can be substituted, so that's a plus.
Veggie burgers are really good, taste so healthy you want a second. I'd recommend this without reservation. Thin fries are great but you wonder if you defeated one's intent to eat "healthier" if you get them as standard side.
Their entree sized salads at $6 are good value. Full sized salads are intended to be a meal and hit the spot.
Ask what their special soup is, they are always good.
Mixed Drinks are well made, good poor.
Bar tends to be real busy at dinner time. Regulars are chatted up by the pretty bartenders, others ignored for too long, pisses me off, so my 25%+ tip ain't gonna be directed their way...
So if you find yourself in area, eg Boca Towne Centet Mall, worth a visit. - Oct 5, 2023
I hadn't been to J's in a hot minute since working next door at Circuit City back in the day. This was our spot!
It's been over a decade since... and on a Wed night, I thought we'd try something more of a step up from a traditional sports bar. J's has a solid crowd on a Wednesday night in the off season. Good sign! We sat at the bar and enjoyed ourselves with a Vodka Mule and a martini. I ordered the Prime rib with a loaded baked potato, my friend got his prime rib with loaded mash. The prime rib was juicy and succulent -- the best I've had in comparison to the prime rib at Stale House.
Great reunion with J's! I'd like to visit more often and sample their other steaks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information
