This is a great date place. They have a stellar wine list, a beautiful view and yummy food.

I got the Taste of the Pacific Northwest. Probably not an inspired choice but I'm not from these parts and I wanted to taste of everything. I also tasted my companion's crab legs. All top notch.

I only tasted the potatoes because I didn't want to carb load.

Overall, great service and a nice meal.

This will probably be a trend with my Yelps...reviewing the bar at a restaurant with little knowledge of what goes on in the dining area. We have been to the happy hour 50ish times in the last three years.

The happy hour in the bar is great and usually packed after 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Get there a little before 9pm to get a table right away. If not, just hang out by the entrance, get a drink, and pay close attention to who is next in line.

The service is great and the waitstaff, bartenders, and bussers clearly enjoy working there and often are there on their days off - always a good sign.

The bar's interior is nice with a few small TV's and a cool atmosphere and setup that promotes chatting with friends. The outdoor deck is occasionally a fun option, but is a little bit cramped and not ideal for parties larger than four. Also, bring a jacket as it gets chilly outside. The bar, the deck, and the dining area all have nice views that allow you to watch the ferries come and go.

The food on the bar menu is great and comes in good sized portions - the clam chowder bowl is its own meal. Having said that, I order the fish tacos 95% of the time, so I can't speak from experience to all of the menu items. I can say that the fish tacos are wonderful, though.

The only thing I can say about the dining area is that it is great when someone else pays and the beat the tide deal is pretty good, however, you will likely be the youngest by far in the room.

The fish and chips were good.  They were exceptionally good considering the fact that they came from Ivar's outdoor food stand thing.

The fish was so fresh.  Perhaps that's just a general characteristic of Pacific Northwest seafood.  I've had my fair share of fish and chips (mostly in CA I admit) and I rarely order it these days because it's usually just mediocre.

If Ivar's was near me, I would def hit that place up for some fish and chips more often.  I wonder if the scallops and oysters are equally good?

FYI - I also ate in the actual restaurant.  The bf ordered the swordfish special which was (surprise, surprise) so fresh!  I got the dungeness crab melt, which was slightly disappointing since though I'm a cheese lover, I thought the cheese overpowered what could have been a yummy sandwich.  I also tried the clam chowder and dungeness crab chowder.  I would rate the clam chowder an 8 out of 10.  I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but the clams in the chowder tasted so fresh!!  Wayy better than the clam chowder I had in Monterey, CA which claimed to be the best clam chowder.  The dungeness crab chowder was okay.  It tasted too buttery for my personal liking.

I'd have to say that Ivar's gets a 4 for it's shining star the fish and chips!

My man had the grilled salmon and it was good!!!!!  I had the open face crab sandwich and I was disappointed because there was not enough crab in it and just tons of mayonnaise on burnt bread.  Not worth the $15 bucks I shelled out. But the salmon was good and the service was terrific so I give it 4 stars.  I will come back and try something different.

The view from the restaurant is cool with the ferries passing by and it's nice and cozy inside...since it was an "Ivars" I thought it would be less expensive (because they have them inside malls in Oregon), but it's not.

Had Sunday brunch at 10 a.m.  Not crowded yet and service was great.  They have everyday .75 clam chowder.  We both started with the chowder and very very good.  They provide homemade muffins and fresh fruit.  I had a shrimp/crab scramble that was good.  Portion could have been a little more.  Had at the airport the fish sandwich and it was great.  I think the lunch/dinner items are better

We have been to Mukilteo Landing several times over the past three years.  Opened in 1992, this location is right on Possession Sound beside the Whidbey Island ferry dock.  There is inside seating and a lounge.  I recommend the patio outside where you can enjoy the views and watch the ferries traverse the waters back and forth.  If the cost is too pricey for you, this location has a take away service at the outdoor Fish Bar.  Grab some fish + chips and have a beachside picnic!

If you choose instead to eat at the restaurant, I recommend starting with either a cup of the clam chowder or their smoked salmon chowder.  With the complimentary sourdough bread, you have a fantastic appetizer before your meal.  Ivar's IS pricey but as many have said, go to the lounge for their Happy Hour to save money.  There is no drink minimum to meet to order from the HH menu and it's offered twice daily (3:00-6:00 p.m. and 9:00-11:00 p.m.)  Or you could try their "Beat the Tide" menu.  This specific menu is served weekday afternoons from 3-5:30.  You can get a soup or salad, entrée and tasting sized dessert, all for $20.00 - not too shabby actually.

And besides, what you go for is the view.  Seated in the sunshine looking out over the Sound... it's one of the perks of living in Seattle.  We've never had poor service nor have we had a bad incident with food.  We usually wait for a table outside and time our visits for non-peak times so we don't have to wait more than 15-20 minutes at the most.  We once sat outside and the sun hid behind the clouds the moment the appetizers hit the table.  Our server offered to move us inside if we were cold and we said we'd rather stay outside.  She brought us some blankets until the sun returned and we were damned cozy.

We will bring out of town guests if they crave seafood.  It's a nice drive from our place and parking can be found on the street on near the beachfront.  We will usually park a little farther than usual because walking back after the meal is appreciated by everyone involved.

Your indoor dining experience is kinda hefty with the price in the main dining room...but for Happy Hour, it's awesome. For non-Happy Hour, well, Ivar Haglund would be rolling in his grave over their prices. Still, the food is great, the service is impeccable, and the place is swanky without being too swanky. (I'm lookin at you, Salty's.)  Once, when i was there on someone else's tab, the people i was with lingered far too long. The manager offered to buy us a round in the bar if we retired to the bar. That's the classy way to turn tables.

Better idea when it's not Feeding Trough Hour: Go to the fish bar. Order. Take your food and go sit on the dock.  Win.

Their dinner menu is fine, and is tasty, but there is no reason to come here except for their LEGENDARY Happy Hour.

With almost 20 items available during HH, you really can't go wrong. They don't skimp on portion size either. Fear not, non seafood fans, there are items for you too, it's not all seafood...But it should be!!

With different daily drink specials in addition to wines, beer and well drinks being on sale, how can you not come check it out?

This has been a well kept secret for all those living in the Mukilteo area for quite sometime now, but word is out, and it's getting more crowded which is the only drawback since HH is only available in the lounge area. It's offered twice a day 7 days a week from 3:00-6:00pm and 9:00-11:00pm...

I've been coming here for years for the Happy Hour, and it doesn't disappoint. I took my Dad and brother who were visiting from Portland here last week and we ordered NINE food items and all had drinks and the tab was $43.74 AFTER tax. The food here is a steal, and is still tasty. The best part? No drink minimum to get the HH food prices, so if you don't drink, you can still partake of the goodness!!

ENJOY!!

My husband, some friends, and myself went here on a friday early evening for some happy hour last friday.  I hadn't been here in over a year.  I was so excited for the clam chowder and once I heard that its on special for only $0.75, I was Super excited.  Needless to say it was more delicious then the last time I had it.  We enjoyed all sorts of appetizers on the menue like the beef saute.  You've gotta try this.  Out of all the items this is the one item that you can't leave without haing.  I must admit the menu is more pricing then the last time I was there and they no longer have a few of my favs, but they made up for it with their daily drink special.  "O' Malibu" is now my favorite drink there.  Delicious and fruity and only $4.50 on Fridays!!!!  Woot!  Also my husbands favorite beer, Mack N Jacks was only $3.50.  He must have had at least 3....good thing they don't bottle that beer otherwise we'd be in trouble.  Just a suggestion, but get there early for happy hour, the bar fills up quick.  HH 3-6 daily.  Oh!  One last thing, you can use your 2010 entertainment card here for $10 off.  Enjoy!

Not bad.  I liked the food and miss good seafood so this was nice.  I am not usually into "chains" because they are missing some passion and essential elements but this place is good.  IF you want reliable good food then this is it.
The view is great too!

Oh my goodness! No body does Clam Chowder like Ivar's!

This restaurant is really pretty inside. They must have done a remodel after a storm or two, because I don't remember it looking so nice! The view is incredible!

Great place for a date or just to take advantage of their Happy Hour!

The extra star is strictly for the view. Ivars on the Mukilteo landing has beautiful views looking out towards Whidbey Island. This is a great stop back from a day trip out on Whidbey, only if you didnt have time to eat at one of the great restaurants over there... ie. Gordon's on Blueberry Hill. Ivars feels like a PNW step up from Red Lobster. There are a few items that remain consistently good, like the clam chowder. This is served piping hot with just the right amount of creamy goodness. Not too thick like other chowders I've had with chunks of clams. We went on a Monday, and were pleased to find out that the bottles of wine and champagne were 1/2 off.. so we pretended it was a special occasion and split and entire bottle of champagne for $12.50!! What a deal! The fish and chips were standard, the fries were over cooked and dark, meaning the grease they were cooked in was old. We also had a gumbo type dish with shrimp and scallops. This was good too but slightly greasy. To finish we had the blueberry ice cream, which had a ribbon of blueberry in it. I think it would be much better if it was whole fresh blueberries over vanilla, instead of ribbons of fake blueberry in vanilla scoops. They are known for this ice cream but I think I could make better with a scoop of Haggan Daz and some whole berries. All in all a nice evening, just nothing that really stands out, besides the 1/2 priced champagne. Again BEST DEAL EVER!

If you want to go to a nice place on the water for Happy Hour, I highly recommend going here.  Their HH is 3 pm - 6 pm, and 9 pm till midnight (I think) every day of the week, and Happy Hour prices are 50% off.  Not bad.

Their HH menu has a very good variety from the classic Ivar's Clam Chowder to Caesar salad with Salmon to Oyster Shooters.  There are also a few non-seafood items on the menu as well.  Some of the items are classics but with a "twist" using more uncommon ingredients for variety.  I've had the three items I've mentioned, along with the quesadilla, the smoked seafood pasta, and the artichoke dip.  Never been disappointed and my absolute favorite is the raw oyster shooters.  Can't get enough of them.

Good place to go during Happy Hour if you've been out and about all day  (or not) and /or you just want to relax and have some good eats at an out of the way place, at an inexpensive price.  Their Bloody Marys are good too.  Their bar is usually pretty packed during Happy Hour, so upon walking in, keep your radar on and grab a table while the seats are still warm.  Parking can be a challenge.  Waitstaff is friendly and attentive.

Nice atmosphere, and during summer the deck overlooking the water and in direct shot of the Mukilteo Ferry is a cool place to hang out.  Great view of the water and distant islands from even inside the bar, and lots of natural light coming in.

Prices are up there but the view is great. You sit in the bar or restaurant right at the ferry dock.

The food is good. Don't miss out on the chowder. The crab cakes are great too.

The beer is cold and there's a fair selection.

What a nice place. We ended up here after doing the Boeing Factory Tour (which is highly recommended, by the way) with wife, daughter, father-in-law and brother-in-law in tow.

Friendly, accommodating service and honestly one of the better old-american style seafood restaurants I've eaten at in a while. The clam chowder is one of the best classic, bacon-laden cream chowders I've ever had (that was the consensus at the table). We had oysters, seafood cobb salad, crab cake sandwich and dungeness crab melt - all were great.

Another review here mentioned that the prices were too high - we did not find this to be the case. The lunchtime fish and chips were $13 - table next to us had it and it was a sizeable serving. I don't think that's an unreasonable price for fresh fish, nice presentation and a gorgeous view of the water. What a nice way to spend the afternoon.

One star is not for the food but rather for the people that work there.  Never been treated so rudely at any restaurant anywhere in the world.  I really wouldnt mind if this Ivars slipped right into Puget Sound with all the employees still inside.  I am at this Ivars pretty frequently as I go scuba diving at mukilteo atleast once a week, but one thing is for sure, I will never go back to this Ivars again and I will make sure nobody I am diving with goes there either.

Incredible that I had not been here before.  I think we usually land at the Diamond Knot or Arnie's.

We came here for lunch with quite a few people and the server was out immediately.  We had drinks before everyone even made it to the table.

Food was okay and the inside was nicer than I thought it would be.  Everyone raves about HH, so I'll have to try it one of these days.

Parking is the big challenge down there and we got stuck behind ferry traffic.

Pretty meh for lunch, the happy hour prices looked alright though.

The fish tacos were actually pretty good and not overpriced like most everything else they have. I think the reason this dining experience was so meh was because we were sitting out on the back porch and we were in the shade, and there were some uncomfortable breezes blowin' our way. I was glad to go around front to get some strawberry shortcake from the take-out bar and sit in the sun. Also, the place tries too hard with it's decor. It's like they're trying to mix the up-scale look with that "hey we're cute and local" look and it just doesn't work (it's a chain!).

Honestly though, not bad.

Whenever we come here, I have to listen to the family go on and on about how some wave or storm washed it out and they had to rebuild it. Sooo interesting the fourth time around.

Pretty much the only bad thing I remember is that one time they kept switching up my diet coke order with my FIL's regular coke. Of course it's also a lot more expensive than the outside, but you're getting fancier stuff. Huge prawns.

I like it OK, but really, the outside walk-up bar does me just fine.

Update: 9/24/07  Still 5 star view and service, food-wise just okay, everything is ala cart now, I have a hard time buying Fish and Chips for $15.99+/- for the same thing I can buy outside at the Fish Bar for less, a lot less...

My fresh salmon, halibut, and prawn skewer was good, just a bit under whelmed on the flavor because of being over whelmed by the price.  Back in the day you got a choice of chowder and salad, no longer is the case....end update...

5 stars for the view alone. 4 stars because of the price  I haven't tried this restaurant since the big storm knocked it for a loop and then the long wait for the remodel to finish.  I'd highly recommend this location for a special event or party for the fine service and outstanding food.

Personally I like the red clam chowder which is a tomato base.  I'll have to make the trip and see if the "new" place tastes like the "old" one.

Staff is always well versed in seafood knowledge and drinks from the bar are tasty and well done.

i love this place. I am a regular in their bar area weekly. They have the best happy hour as far as alcohol prices and food quality goes. the appetizers are delicious, always, the beer selection rotates on a regular basis and the wait stuff is awesome. Vince is very very good at his job and makes people feel welcome even if its the second or third time you have been there. in the PNW Ivars is a staple and this restaurant is classy. whether you go for a beer during happy hour or a well rounded meal with your fiance, this is a great place to spend your money. The restaurant portion of the place is spendy, but you get a great meal and great atmosphere.

its 5 stars for a reason, give their happy hour a try and their restaurant a go for an anniversary or another special occasion

Great place for happy hour. The food actually tastes better here than the Ivar's near the UW. I didn't try the clam chowder that came with sourdough bread, but it looked pretty good. The fish and chips was decent, and the spinach & artichoke dip came out sizzling hot! The only down side was that the tortilla chips that came with the dip was a little bland...I think it would have tasted better with pita bread instead. The lounge can get pretty busy during the late night happy hour so keep that in mind, but the food is great!

Great location.  Pretty good service.  The seafood is awesome. =)  I love the crab bisque and sour dough bread.  Definitely need new items on the menu because it been pretty much the same old thing for the last 4-5 visits.  Definitely a place to me if you're in the mood to have some "Ivar's".  Fish and chip for some reason is better when you're at this location, funny... LOL  I come often and enjoy the place.  The best part is that you avoid the Ivar's Seattle mess for parking.

I had a terrific lunch here at Ivars with my mother this weekend.  The restaurant was having a 70 year anniversary celebration, with special 7 dollar tasting dishes and anniversary cocktails. Ive seen some people complain about the 13.95 price for a fish and chips plate. Well, the fish out side at the takeout counter is 7 bucks, and you only get 2-3 pieces of fish.  You get 5 pieces with the 13.95 portion,  and it appears to be better prepared.  I ordered the dungeness and bay shrimp melt sandwich, served open-faced. I woyuld have preffered a side salad with it other than fries, but the waiter politely notified me there was an upcharge for salad.  So i stuck witht he fries, they were very crispy and delicious. The sandwich wasnt bad, but I have been spoiled on delicious lobster salad creations when i lived on the east coast. The sandwich could have used more crab, still, tasty for 12.95. We had a special champagne cocktail from their anniversary menu, it was delightful and tasty. A great lunch!

Happy hour is the way to go here.  You have to sit in the bar to get the pricing, but it is so worth it.  You can get Fish & Chips for about $6 and the drinks are very reasonably priced.  Well worth the 30 min drive I've got to get here.

The view is really amazing, price is kinda crazy. I ordered their artichoke dip and got almost nothing for $11. My meal was very expecive and was just so-so. The decore is spectacualar but dinning set up is not very confortable. basicly if they had a new food manager it would be worth it.
