I came here twice during my stay in Scotland. Both times the Italian Kitchen did not disappoint! I ate during lunch hours and it was not very crowded (but I'm sure that was because my cohort and I were the first ones there).
My first visit I got the Ravioli Al Frutti Di Mare: prawn, crab, and whitefish stuffed raviolis with a lobster bisque sauce. The ravioli was drenched in the sauce so if you don't like too an excess amount of sauce, then this might not be the best fit for you. However, I found it extremely delicious! Each bite I took I tasted all 3 of the stuffings. On top of that, the lobster bisque sauce gave it extra richness which complemented the seafood.
The second visit I ordered the Pollo Alla Valdostana: Chicken stuffed with mozzarella, wrapped in parma ham, on top of a marsala sweet wine sauce with a side of mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes went well with the chicken because the potatoes were buttery and rich and the chicken was nice and sweet. I would order again because it was well worth it.

Perfect dinner!
Huge menu to select from antipasti to risotto and of course pizza and pasta!
I order the tagliatele with fungi e spinaci, and it was delicious! It also had truffle oil so it was perfect!
My friends ordered some pizzas and other pasta dishes and were tasty as well!
The price is around 25£ for two people, but is worth it!
Come back soon!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa H.Littleton, CO02733May 13, 2018
Nice Italian Resturant in the Merchant Square area of Glasgow. Very clean and warming atmosphere, great service and lots of choices on the menu. Stopped by for lunch during my walking tour of Glasgow. Reasonable price for a nice lunch.

Bright, modern and jazzy - the Italian Kitchen is a lovely italian eatery in the unofficial Italian quarter of Glasgow.
The restaurant, as I mentioned, is modern - very light and airy - with a distinctly 'urban' atmosphere, which is alright, but it can seem a bit fast paced if you're trying to take the time to enjoy your meal. The service is just as fast, which in my eyes, is a winner.
The menu itself is wide and varied - the bruschetta Italia starter is tasty as (mozzarella, parma ham, tomato, rocket, balsamic vinegar....mmm....). The usual pizza and pasta favourites give you a great choice - bit more variety on the old pasta front, but the pizzas are still decent.
Somewhat expensive, overall, but worth it, for both quality and quantity (and, if there's a birthday going on, sometimes they'll put sparklers in your dessert, yaaaay!).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kevin D.Glasgow, United Kingdom154416375Feb 2, 2016
Been here once and as we ordered they had a power cut, waited around for the power and nothing came back so we had to leave hungry
I would say the team were amazing, didn't charge for drinks and were very attentive throughout the unfortunate experience
I will go back to actually try the food one dayHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emma D.Glasgow, United Kingdom373826Jul 3, 2013
I'm genuinely surprised by the bad experiences other yelpers have had here as mine have led it to be the 'go to' place when I want somewhere more special than your bog standard Italian. Every time I've been greeted by friendly and attentive staff, tasty meals, generous portions and good wine.
The menu has an excellent choice - not *quite* too many to make you stress over whether you can make up your mind when the pen is poised over the pad. Pre-theatre is a good deal with choices that feel like you're not being punished for waiving the al a carte.
I'd recommend it for business meetings, couples and big groups, as this is the kind of people that are already giving it a warm, unpretentious and inviting atmosphere.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Martyn M.London, United Kingdom347380250Dec 17, 2012
Incredibly unimpressed with the experience I just had in this restaurant. Decided to go in here tonight with Colin and our best friend Maria, just for the sake of going out. I wasn't feeling italian but I caved and decided I did want to try here anyway. Well, I definitely won't be going back.
We were seated fast and with ease by a waiter, which was fine but the service after this point just went downhill. We ordered drinks and were deciding on food, and were asked about 4 times while deciding if we were done, and if we wanted wine, and if we knew what food we wanted, and if we wanted wine, and this went on a while. Eventually I ordered a glass of rosé and we all ordered food. I ordered the king prawns and a linguine in a garlic and white wine sauce with pieces of Tuscan spiced sausage, while Colin ordered the beef carpaccio and the penne al filetto, and Maria ordered the meatballs then the penne arabiatta.
Our starters came after about 15 minutes which was fine because the restaurant was half full, but our waitress didn't offer drink replacements despite empty glasses, and just dumped the cutlery randomly on the table. I'm sorry, what?
My king prawns were nicely cooked, but the sauce wasn't well seasoned and it was really watery. Maria and Colin both enjoyed their starters, and they all came out as ordered despite us asking for a lot of changes to the dishes, such as ingredient removals or changes etc. Unfortunately, the second we were finished our starters, the mains were on the table, despite us being incredibly full and wanting a break. This also means that the mains had been sitting in the kitchen waiting on being brought out, which doesn't sit we'll with me. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta; I thought the sausage was well seasoned, as was the pasta, and I was happy, as was Maria. Colin was dissatisfied, as he asked for the meat in the pasta to be cooked medium, and it was well done, and there was a drastically off meat to pasta ratio.
After we were finished, Colin ordered a dessert, and I ordered a baileys, which was all fine until we were handed with a £102.80 bill. I almost collapsed. £102? I personally think that is absolutely obscene, but we worked it all out and turns out we did order £102.80 worth of food, but we certainly wouldn't have had we realised it would come to that.
Overall, incredibly dissatisfied with the service, the food wasn't the best I've had despite hearing wonderful things about this place, and its far too overly priced. Won't be returning, despite the welcoming yelp sign on the door.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Christian S.Little Marlow, United Kingdom091Jul 1, 2014
My friend Jay loved this place and was eulogising over his £22.95 3 course menu. He loved every dish to the point I thought he was going to start a cult. That aside, I chose to go from the main menu and I thought the food was cooked very well and the courses arrived at suitable times with decent breaks between each. The pasta & pizza were very good and reasonably priced (compared to SE England) although I have had better, but at much greater cost.
As for the service, it was superb from beginning to end. We may have been lucky and we may have gone at a decent time (Monday evening about 8) but I can only comment on how it was.
All in all I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wanted a good Italian meal.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Arman S.Glasgow, United Kingdom6325Feb 18, 2016
