Plump, juicy, fat, tasty... No, not me ... The burger.
I.T. was a corner hole find. Fine service, fine food, quick and clean.
I'll return again and again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 40271506Mar 26, 2018
I'm not really a bar person but both times I was in here over the weekend I was impressed. The first time I came in we came in for Downeast Cider. They had it on tap and rimmed the glass with cinnamon sugar. Yum! The second time I had a bartender named Angel who made me her specialty chocolate martini. She changed shift and another bartender came on who was very sweet and personable. She made me their special drink, the peach pie martini and after that I was feeling good so we left.
I would def come in here if we stay at the W again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2243821487Jan 2, 2017
I've searched high and low and this is the best place in Boston for a burger! The angus beef burger is seasoned to perfection, juicy, never dry, and it's of that fresh off the summer grill taste! A burger and a side of the waffle sweet potato fries with sweet dipping sauce! It's equivalent to dying and going to heaven or at least I assume it is.
I rarely eat red meat but here it's a must! I don't want the turkey burger or even the fish just give me a good ole BEEF BURGER! The waitresses here are so friendly and personable. They serve you with a smile. It's almost hard to believe that for about 12 dollars you can have one of these amazing burgers but it's true!
Awesome place to spend your theatre intermission or just a great place to come drink, have the best burger in Boston, and chill with friends. Come in and seat yourself! This is casual dining at its finest! If you are in Boston this is a must try place! Get the burger and thank me later!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jun 3, 2017
A good bar for the Friday night. So close to Boston commons. They have enough tables to seat everyone. Good beer and alcohol selection. They gave me the freedom to convert my wrap to a burger. All their steaks are too good. Salmon was awesome. I got the buffalo chicken tenders. DON'T MISS THEIR HOME CHIPS!!!

What a great find! My family (husband and our 12- and 13- year old boys) stayed a couple of blocks from Intermission Tavern, and it was raining outside. We didn't want to go far, and this placed seemed to have good reviews. Our server/bartender was absolutely fantastic (so nice!) and the margarita I ordered was definitely strong enough to my liking.
But the food... WOW. The portions were enormous, and the food was fantastic. My son got nachos with chili, and they were the best nachos I'd ever tried. My husband and I shared a BBQ burger, which was delicious and super filling. I would definitely go back there! I just wish I could remember the bartender's name.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1074236429851Oct 13, 2014
Intermission serves up some classy grub. I was really impressed with this bar, which we chose for lunch solely based on its proximity to the Boston Common/Public Garden.
We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. This came with a heaping pile of warm pita bread slices. Oh my goodness. Delicious. Definitely ranks near the top of the most wonderful dips I've consumed, for sure. By the time we were through with the app, we were... beyond full. I really didn't even need more food. But, since we had already ordered...
My main dish was the fried chicken sandwich, served with curly fries. This was ALSO amazing. It had swiss cheese and bacon on it, and it was sooo good. I hated how much of it I had to leave behind since we were tourists and weren't heading back to our hotel in the near future. I insisted to our (extremely friendly!) server that I loved it, but was just too full from the app.
My mom was less thrilled with her chicken caesar wrap. She didn't like the sauce in it. I tried it and thought it was great, but it definitely had a different kick to it, so I understand why she personally didn't like it.
Another thing going for Intermission? It's so clean! Or, well, at least it was at midday. I know it's a bar right off a college campus, so that could make it questionable, but nope. It was great all around. Even the bathroom.
Really enjoyed my visit. If I'm back in Boston in the future and in the area, I'll definitely make sure to stop back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 18, 2016
Maybe Mark C and I came on an off night (and I really hope we did) because our experience at Intermission Tavern was weak and shaky at best. As my husband and plus 1 so eloquently put it = sometimes our memories get the better of us and this might be the case for Intermission Tavern.
Having not been there in several years, and having found memories of grabbing late night brews and bites, we headed over there during our last visit to Boston. We arrived around 10pm - just before the late night crowd would make there way there - to grab a bite and a brew. Quickly finding our place at the bar, our server was pleasant, grabbing our drinks and giving us our menus.
We decided on some wings to share, a burger for Mark C and nachos for myself. FIrst up the wings - which were good once you were able to get to the meat - they were so over sauces, it was like opening a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's sauces and pouring it into my mouth.
Next up - the nachos - which as I asked to have some grilled chicken added. I mean how hard could that be. Well, in my case pretty hard. What I got was a plate of unflavored, unseasoned tortilla chips, covered in flavorless "cheese" with some sprinkles of what appeared to be dried chicken chunks. No amount of salt or salsa could remedy the meal. Hungry - I had as much as I could stomach but in the end I left disappointed and sad.
Like I said before - I hope that I went on an off night. I would hate that a place that I used to love to go to when I came to Boston would be removed from my list of "go to" placesHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mar 28, 2016
Came on a Sunday night and it was not packed at all. It's a small bar if you go with friends. Service was just average. It's a very metro look inside with brick walls which was nice.
1. Nachos - A big let down. It's just cheese melted on nachos which I could make at home. They need to add more jazz to this dish.
2. Burger - Very good, with a good amount of fries that were not too salty and just the right amount of crunch.
Overall, I'd come here for a quick bite but me personally, I'd try other places.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Justine S.Brooklyn, NY1573May 18, 2018
I came here four years ago. First, I walked in the bar with my government issued state ID (identification card, not driver's license). The bouncer said, "We don't accept this." What do you mean? This is a government ID. Mind you, it's a legal card, I'm legally over 21. At some point, he just let me in. (Was with a party of about 4.)
Then, my SO at the time and I were kissing at the bar in the corner (if it's helpful for context, I am black and he was brown). Ok, sure it was PDA. However, there was another couple (white) also making out, and we got told by the bartender that, "You need to stop. Our customers don't like that." The white couple didn't get told that.
So, thus, the reason for my one-star review. Service was discriminatory, therefore I'm letting you all know.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 9, 2016
Very charming little bar/restaurant, ideally located in the theater district. We went there after an event Ina Saturday night, and found a table immediately. It serves American bar food; nothing exceptional. My crab cakes were a little dry, so not really recommending them. At the same time, the place is relatively low key, not too loud and I could have a good conversation with my friend without having to shout. We'll probably go back.

Hey hey OK, so I've been here a few times recently after a drink or 3 at the Tam (so take that into account when reading my review), and I would rate this above-average/good pub food. The BBQ-and-onion-ring burger (I forget what it's actually called) is thick and meaty, cooked just the way I like for medium-rare (a lil pink and juicy), and comes with CURLY FRIES by default.
The menu itself has some other good options, but my critique is that way too many burgers/sandwiches come with Swiss cheese, which I do not dig. How about some American or cheddar? Or some Gouda? Goat?
And I would be remiss not to mention my chief concern about this place: THE SMELL. To me, it smells like a litter box, straight up, and I have no idea where it's emanating from. I searched the reviews here and the basement seems to be the main suspect, though for me, the smell hits as soon as I walk in and doesn't intensify the closer I get to the basement or when I go down to use the restroom. I have smelled this same scent at many a dive bar, but it's a bit rarer at a dining establishment, and I could definitely understand a more picky/squeamish/dignified person than myself wanting to head for the door after getting a whiff, but you kinda forget about it after a few beers.
So, in short: good food, decent options, weird smell, and I will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
