About the Business
Institution Ale Company is just over the hill northwest of Los Angeles and can be seen right off the 101 freeway in its hometown of Camarillo. IAC was founded in 2013 by a father-and-sons team who run and operate the brewery. Our brewery includes a 15-barrel brewhouse and canning line, 20+ beers on tap and a kitchen that bakes freshly made artisan flatbread pizzas and soft pretzels. As of February 2019, we have opened our second location on State Street in Santa Barbara, CA. Visit us at either location or try our beer on tap at select bars/restaurants throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara County, and Los Angeles County.

We usually go here as a group and some of us can be an absolute pain. Just to be honest.
Wanted to give praise to Andrew (Samoan, Man bun, tattoed gentleman). He's very knowledgeable regarding the beers, food and merch.
Some of us had so much questions where I myself would be annoyed answering them, but Andrew was absolutely accommodating. He would drop off food, grab dishes and cleaning tables, then answer our questions happily. That dude is hilarious .
Saw him everywhere everytime we're there, almost every weekend. He recommended pizzas that would go perfectly with the beers we picked. Our group has some beer snobs and they really like him too! Tried to give him a tip, but he said to leave it in the tip jar up front since they all share it. What a guy! Could've pocketed it himself, but didn't
Overall a dope spot. Will always come back on the weekends when this dude works. Even the to go beers we got, matched the flavor profile he mentioned. You got great taste Andrew! He's so patient, it's crazy. Thank you man!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 16, 2024
My family and I love to come here when we are in the area after soccer games and track meets.
I enjoy the seasonal elote pizza and wish it was served all year round. My second favorite pizza is the bbq chicken also keynote their ranch is pretty good. That's important in a pizza place. I finally tired a salad there and I am def recreating it at home. It was the anti-pasta salad! Fresh and flavorful. The pretzel is also yummy and warm!
As for the beer, many choices, they change the menu around here and there. Nothing bad to say. There's a cute little shop where you can buy growlers and merch and you can also purchase kegs here for events. We've done it a couple of times and turns out great!
Def recommend coming with friends, family, con workers! Especially in the summer time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 26, 2023
What a fantastic place to spend an afternoon! I brought my kids for some pizza and I was pleasantly surprised by what a hidden gem this is!
They converted the parking lot into the outdoor seating area, so parking is limited, but we were able to find some close by on the street.
The food was really good! We got pepperoni pizza, garlic bread, and a few individual bbq salads. The salads were a perfect size to be a meal on its own! There were quite a few different types of beer on tap! There is definitely something for everyone. I enjoyed the Mexican lager, which had a hint of lime in it!
In terms of entertainment there are a few TV's inside as well as an area for adults only that has a separate bar and basketball toss game. There is also a corn hole set up outside by the tables.
The service was fantastic! They have a great system when placing orders and the food came out quickly! I would highly recommend Institution for a family outing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica T.Montecito, CA01May 16, 2024
First off, we have been coming here for many years and it is a great stopping point to grab a beer and let the kids stretch their legs and us all to get lunch. We live in Santa Barbara County and have made a point to stop here from LA every time on our way home and it has been amazing every time except today, where we are greeted with signs in bold red that I thought were a joke, the signs even said no playing (pertaining to kids).
Second, we have had horrible interactions at the Santa Barbara tasting room with drunk men throwing things and threatening us as we were outside trying to get a table, granted this was during fiesta, but there is no exception to drunk people on your patio threatening guests.
This has always been our favorite brewery to stop for every time we come out of LA and now we feel like we're not welcome because of their horribly worded signs, every time we come here it has always been a family place and now there isn't a family in sight which was probably what they meant to to. We had overheard a bartender telling a guest the reason they need the sign is "because parents get drunk and let their kids run around, it's not a fucking chucky cheese". I'm sorry, if you don't want family's there, then make it 21 and over, but since you haven't done that yet, you obviously need our money and choose not to take that route.
We will always choose to wait 10 extra minutes and go to Topa Topa headquarters now.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 22, 2023
I've been here a couple times and can't say I have much to complain about. The staff is quick and to the point, they get your beers and move on to the next customer with a quickness considering how long the line can get. The pizzas are plenty, with many options to appease your tastes, and they even have some other options like giant pretzels. Now it is not the best pizza I've had at a brewery, but definitely not bad at all. The place seems to have a lot of families with kids running around. They offer free darts and basketball games in a small 21 and over section if you get in competitive mood. The beers are decent, and I like that they change their selection since my go-to is a flight. So overall it's not a bad spot to meet up with some buddies.

My Hubby & I took a break from car shopping & running errands, so we decided to come to @institutionales in Camarillo, CA.
We rarely go to Camarillo, but my Hubby's trusted barber moved to a new spot near by.
We got here early for his appt. & waited here. Soon after, the place had a line. We were glad to get our order in, but honestly, they are so fast, you don't have to wait long.
You can tell this brewery is well loved from the people coming in. They really know this place well & immediately knew what to order. The beer tenders were warm, friendly, but professional.
The entire place is so clean & tidy. The bathrooms are clean, which is very important for the ladies & kiddos.
I love that it's so spacious inside. 4 TVs in the main room, 2 on each of the long walls, so you can watch various sports.
People are able to enjoy a beer & still be with their kids/family.
I ordered the pretzels & my Hubby had "The Meat". I do not eat meat, so that's why.
I'm super happy that they have salads on the menu. I remember distinctly telling my Hubby years ago that I wish they had them & now they do!
It was a mellow & chill day.
I see why people love it here.
We will definitely be coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 689187Nov 9, 2023
Food consists of pizza and pretzels and garlic sticks and is all so tasty and yummy, we got the meat pizza tonight, the jalapeños on the pizza were fresh and a good spicy. We also got the pretzels they were so soft and salty w a cheese dip, stout is strong and has a good flavor to it, service was good and the ambiance was chill and they had live music on a Thursday night was pretty busy

Heard about the rave and finally had the opportunity to stop by, it was much larger than I thought! Stopped by on a Wednesday and it was light but had a good amount of customers. Ordered the pils and a pizza hot sauces one with bbq and hot honey. The crust was nice and thin food came out pretty quickly! Staff was ok, just did their job and the overall place was clean and had good activities good for small groups. Overall I think I would prefer toppers food and beer but this is another great alternative and hang out since there's not many breweries in cam. Overall good!

Great brewery! I like coming here with coworkers to celebrate different occasions. They all seem to love the beer. I wish they had some kombucha or zero % beers on offer for those who don't drink alcohol. What I like best here are their pizzas. They are the bomb! Exotic combinations that are surprising and yet absolutely delicious. Service is attentive and friendly. Ambience, well it's a brewery, don't expect candle light and cloth napkins. I like sitting in the tap room at the large table, outside in the parking lot turned patio, and also in the "play room" next to the big brewing equipment. They also sell merch in their front lobby. Overall, it's always a fun time when I come here.
