PEACE HISTORY AND BALD EAGLES
found all three and more at inn at barnum point. childhood friends, we just spent the weekend here and appreciated the pristine setting (yes, remote but a short drive from seattle with a bridge, no ferry required). carolin is a truly hospitable, gracious and organized hostess, and we felt very welcome in the home she built herself on the family.s homestead where she played as a child.
the inn is clean and cozy, with generous and tasty breakfasts; an easy base to explore the gorgeous parks on camano. big windows in the upstairs rooms provide front row seats to view port susan (sound?), an enormous blue heron, a very focused female bald eagle crossing our view repeatedly, and the mountains beyond (when the rain lightened occasionally).
if you plan to visit, do so soon. the state is acquiring this legacy property to preserve wild space for migrating birds and local creatures. thx to carolin and her family for caring for and sharing this breathtaking piece of the PNW.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley G.Seattle, WA010920Jun 15, 2017
This place is shut down. I just called the owner and she said the Inn is closed permanently. There will be no buildings on this part of the island due to protecting the local wildlife

My fiance and I just got back from a one night getaway here. It was so relaxing and in such a spectacular location! Even on a gray day, the views were phenomenal and we had a lovely walk on the beach.
The owner, Carolin, was very accommodating and so sweet! She cooked us a fantastic breakfast as well. She was also friendly and easy to converse with, but not overly chatty or invasive. She showed us some fantastic historical photos of the area as well as showed off the giant mastodon tooth she found on her beach. Pretty cool!
As noted, it is an older home but it is very clean and well kept. Our room had a nice little fireplace and table and chairs to relax in. Keep in mind this is an older home with one woman running it - not a 5 star monstrosity. The decor matches the feel of the place but she keeps it all very clean, which is #1 in my book.
I also would say leave your laptop at home as Wi-Fi is not super strong, but she has a sweet VHS (yes, VHS!) collection if you want to watch something. Diamond Knot lodge isn't too far away if you want to go grab some delicious craft beer on the island!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paul N.Portland, OR01074Sep 17, 2013First to Review
Pros: Beautiful location with 180 degree views of water and islands. Isolated, with direct access to long cobble beach. Spacious room. Our suite also had a large deck facing the water. Rates much lower than other places with comparable views. Very pleasant innkeeper. Cons: Some maintenance issues -- not serious, but this is not 5-star accommodation, other than the location.

THIS PLACE IS CLOSED AND SHOULD BE CLOSED. It didn't show as closed, we were tired, it was late and this came up. We drove all the way out there. The last 2 miles were unbelievable. WAY out in one very spooky place. Pulled up and the place looked seriously haunted. Found out it's been closed for some time. Seriously folks, PULL YOUR LISTING. Save others the pain of driving all the way out there, the nightmares of what must have happened in that house (yikes!!!) and let people head to a place that IS open and is wonderful (I think it's called the Camano Island Lodge). Spectacular. One of the most comfy beds I have ever been in! And the restaurant has excellent food. The setting is beautiful, the people are nice. Review on THEM separately on THEIR active lodging.
