Love this place! Very well managed. They don't let you act a fool on the range and they take safety very seriously. I've been to some indoor ranges where dummies are taking pictures with rifles and pointing the muzzle at everyone including their friends! That would not go down here so well. It is an appreciated approach to a safe environment.

This is an excellent outdoor range with an option to shoot basically anything (handguns, rifles, skeet, etc) and it's very low priced compared to all the indoor ranges. Plus you'll get some fresh air and support the wildlife conservation while you're at it. While it is true that these guys are rather strict about their long list of rules, it is all because, big surprise, no one wants to get hurt. They're very clear about their rules and if they send you home, don't get your feelings hurt, just don't break the rules and put yourself and everyone in danger. Is everyone there a customer service guru who's going to be a cloying enabler, no? Are some of them rude sometimes? Yes. But they're looking out for your safety and if you respect them and their job and property, they'll treat you right and help you out if you have questions or need help setting up or whatever. I love this range, even if it's not the world's best range, and i love helping to support the preserves around us too.

Deserves less than 1 star.
1st time visitor thrown off the range for carrying concealed onto the range. Orientation was totally skipped where I was supposedly informed that wasn't allowed. Extremely rude and verbally abusive Elmer Fudd range master screamed at me my hosts to 'get the eff off the range in 4 min or else I'm retired law enforcement!' Continued to shout at us when we were at our car in the parking lot. Seemed he was ready to draw on us. Outrageous. Fire this guy and I mean disemploy him asap.
Drove over an hour to try this. Will never be back and while leaving, another group overheard me talking to my hosts and said "nobody told us about the concealed "rule" either." They were hastily unloading their PDWs when we left.
Absolutely horrible and the worst shooting experience I've ever had anywhere around the country and having taken many courses from highly qualified instructors.
Do not patronize businesses like this and they will be forced to change. Our community is too important to tolerate this type of stupidity. If this had been my girlfriend she would have been in tears and it definitely would have been strong disincentive to ever try shooting again.Helpful 6Thanks 3Love this 1Oh no 1 - Chris C.FL, FL01Mar 6, 2023
Treated me like royalty at the range!! I have not been shooting for awhile. JOE WHITE the manager signed me up and explained all rule of the range . Introduced me to "ELI" the range officer. He showed me around. Then bore sighted my new rifle to get me on paper. The rest was on my ability. Everyone there was friendly and helpful.. Some shooters came over on break to discuss tips and small talk before going hot.. Had a great time will be back soon.. JOE WHITE is the man!! I saw many people with wives and daughters there. It is a great fun for the whole family. Very safe and professional...

Ive done a number of indoor ranges, most are 25 yards max. Not a real test of shooting skill. Today was my first foray into the world of outdoor shooting.
I arrived at opening, 9 am. The lot was busy, midweek, and yeah it was busy. I was kinda surprised.
Grab a parking spot and go into the range office, across from the range. You can leave your gear in the car, I didn't and I banged my way into the office. Yeah my rifle case was kinda in the way walking past everyone waiting to check in.
The desk woman was very pleasant, efficient, and a nice person, it seemed. We got through the paper work and payment fast. They even laminate your range card for you. FREE. Yup.
Now onto the range, eyes and ears on, waut at the second gate for the range officer. He'll walk ya through everything. They inspect your weapon, make sure its unloaded. They get you in a port, then ya gotta wait for the next cold line to put up your target. As I write this I realize it may be more instruction than review. But I find initial range visits intimidating, hope this helps.
Review now. Lol. The down range is a little bullet riddled, naturally. Blind shooters? Holes where there shouldnt be. The shooters port is nice, solid seat that swings out of the way, supplied sandbags, chicken wire walls that keep hot shells from hitting you. Yeah theyll burn. Theres bench and table room behind the ports, convenient.
The range officers were professional, kept an eye on everyone, and ran a good ship. Listen to them. I got yelled at, well sternly communicated to, about stepping over the red line when the line was cold. My fault. No big deal.
Was a nice experience, will return.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Quentin H.Southwest, Denver, CO0485Mar 20, 2022
Nice inexpensive range but the some of the range masters are complete assholes. It's impossible to have an enjoyable time shooting when they're yelling at you for messing up on one of their 300 rules. My dad stepped over the red line to get around this woman who is a regular who doesn't even work there, then she and the range master proceeded to berate him for stepping over the red line. They can enforce safety rules without being arrogant range nazis. Not everyone is a regular shooter and you're gonna slip up sometimes but don't attack paying customers because your range masters have ego issues.

Overall, the range is nice, adequate for our area. However, the staff are absolutely the rudest people I've ever dealt with in a facility of this nature. Unless, you're one of the lucky few who know them on a personal level, then you get the special treatment. I could go on, but I really don't want to waste any more time on this place.

I've been living across 512 in VLE since March, I've only now made time to get over to this range.
Reading a few of the reviews I expected a little county kingdom with its own monarchy.
Everyone I came in contact with (just kidding maintained 6') was courteous and professional. I listened to what they said and did what they said and no problems.
It's an outdoor range, this is Florida in August, so I didn't stay too long, I need to find a mask that doesn't fog up my shooting glasses. So I limited my time to 50 rounds in a new pistol I've had for a couple of months and this is the first time I've shot it. Did what I expected so more than 50 rounds isn't going to tell me nothing I didn't already know.
Again, everyone at the range was professional and helpful. If you haven't been, check it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lenny M.Lake Worth, FL15491Jul 9, 2019
The place sucks and the people don't know anything. I was inquiring about ammo sales to persons under 21. The man proceeds to lecture me on how illegal it is to buy long rifle ammo. I had just came from academy with a fresh load of ammo, and had the receipts! I also showed him the recent law change and they still refused to sell ammo. I understand some places have store policies that won't sell under 21 but this is a PUBLIC RANGE. They can't make up store policy, if it's not a county ordinance or the law, they can't enforce it! This is very sad, and wrong! They don't know the law! Don't shop, shoot, or do anything around people who can't keep up with regulations...who knows what else might not be up to par at this facility.

Started shooting trap & skeet with my boys and Indian River Shooting Range made us feel so comfortable and they were so friendly in showing us newbies how to have fun and also be safe. I recommend this range to anyone wanting to come out even if it is your first time. From the time we went in to pay and from the time we left, everyone was so nice and willing to answer all the questions we had and to make sure we had a good time.
