I have been a faithful parishioner for the last ten years. In the past couple of months, the quality of the church has started to decline noticeably. Ida from the hospitality staff is rude to parishioners in the communion line when you let others go before you. The church decided to save on its heating bill by turning off the heat and keeping the doors open during mass at night when temperatures drop to 58 degrees and below. Everyone comes to mass in long wool coats with scarves, hats, and gloves, quite unusual for Southern California attire. A good number of the congregation consists of seniors and children who are more susceptible to pneumonia, flu, colds, and other illnesses; not everyone can afford a flu or pneumonia shot, and some do not own a coat. While fighting the return of COVID-19, they invite it to return with such negligent and reckless practices. Father Roberto Rueda is the Priest/Parish Administrator and does not find anything wrong with rude hospitality staff or putting people at risk for possible health issues. He has been made aware of these concerns and treats you like you are not educated or intelligent, and it is a complete fabrication of your mind. The associate priest, Father Florentino Victorino, has expressed an interest in our concerns but seems reluctant to help. I do not know if this is out of fear or not knowing what to do. I hope this review reaches them and prompts them to make the necessary changes before they lose more parishioners due to bad behavior and rude conduct.

My Great Grandparents George and Carmen Glassick helped in building this wonderful Parish. Going back as far as 1912, I went to IHM School in the late 50's. Many of my family members were buried from the Parish. We are scattered now but IHM will always remain in our hearts and prayers

I've been attending mass at this church for several years now. My mom is a parishioner here. There have been many upgrades at this church and a change of priests. For the past 10 years Fr. Rodel was the main priest here. Everyone loves him. Also Fr. Miloy was an assistant priest for 5yrs. Both priests finished up their contract here in July (I believe it was this month). They helped the church with many upgrades and the church is gorgeous now, added a Tagalog mass on Sundays at 4pm, and even Simbang Gabi in the AM. The music director Pete is amazing! His voice is beautiful and choice of music for each mass is great. There have been a change of priests for the past 4 months I would say. The main priest is Fr. Larry Revilla. There are also guests priests name Fr. Alex, Fr. Carmen, and another priest who does the Spanish mass. I'm not sure what his name is. The last couple of months there were a lot of getting used to. Maybe because we were just used to getting good morning or good afternoon, have a great day greetings from the prior priests and some laughs. But Fr. Larry does say that now along with Fr. Alex who has been a guest priest here for a very long time now. Fr. Larry and Fr. Alex are very much approachable. They greet you, give handshakes and bless. Fr. Carmen is more on the strict side and his masses go over an hr or so. Fr. Carmen doesn't like specific attire like shorts, sleeveless shirts, or anything revealing. Which is understandable but if he sees you with inappropriate attire he will let you know. This is still my favorite church and I'll still attend mass here. For those who don't know about the new priest's it'll take some time to getting used to. Otherwise, it's a great church :)

My parents love going to this church because the mass service is in Tagalog. So, we do try to go together as a family every Sunday.
This church is small compare to the other nice churches around in LA. The church don't have enough room for everyone to sit on especially on special religious events. The parking is super small, even if they add the school, it's still not enough parking space. The other bad thing is that, it's located on a main street on Santa Monica which makes it hard to understand the mass because of the loud busses, cars and people out on the street.
I do hope they do a great job remodeling this church for the better and peacefulness.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Elissa M.Los Angeles, CA13445Jan 14, 2017
I have been to Immaculate Heart numerous times and each time I go I am thankful that it exists. The Eucharist is given a place of prominence on the alter. It is a sad sign of modern times that I have to even acknowledge this, as it should be the standard, but sadly many churches push the Eucharist off to the side. The priests and parishioners are welcoming. My only wish is that the music would more regularly include older, classic hymns. I find most modern church music from the 80's and up to be lackluster. Hearing an older, classic hymn like Ave Maria, on the other hand, makes my heart soar. I wish Immaculate Heart incorporated more classic hymns in the Mass.

Nice renovation of the church. But was never a big fan of the Large gap on the right side of the pews to make room for the grand piano and the band. Music too loud during Masses. Bring back organ music. The gap makes the church look lopsided. Too bad the church was not wider to make room for this. I guess Gothic Churches we're supposed to be long and narrow. But still very nice church. Can still see the twin towers spires from miles away. You will never be lost if you are new to the church. Also not a fan of of the television screens. Heard complaints last year that the air conditioning is not being used on hot days. White walls are getting dirty and paint from pews are rubbing off. Not very good refurbushing. Still serene when empty. But too noisy during bilingual or triligual Masses. Graduation Mass in early June are the best ceremonies to experience at IHM Church. First communion is a jungle. Should be similar to the graduation mass for the solemnity of the Mass. Not a fan of the lady lector tryingbto lead the responses. I mean by now we know to say and with your spirit instead of and also with you.

I love this church. I've been going here since I was young. The staff are wonderful as well as the priest are very inspiring. From the choir to the ushers, you can definitely feel that this church is very special on its own.

Although not in the best area, this humble church is beautiful and very inviting. I was given the impression that they must have some sort of food distribution service because there were a few homeless people eating on the church steps. This church has quite a few very beautiful statues and lots of pews to sit in. This is a perfect place to come and soul search, whether you are Catholic or not.

We were married at this Church. Fr. Rodel was wonderful-he come down specifically to celebrate our wedding. The church is beautiful & was the perfect place to hold our wedding ceremony. Communication with the front office was a bit tricky since the parish had just changed pastors. The only issue we had was with the associate priest: we had to cut our photo session short after the wedding ceremony since it coincided with confession. The associate priest told our church coordinator that he would "throw us all out" if we didn't finish up our photo taking because we were being "too loud." Apparently, we weren't the only wedding couple who had this issue with this priest. Now the latest wedding ceremony is at 2pm. If you're looking to get married at this church, I would stay away from the last time slot on Saturdays which is 2pm-it still coincides with confession & you'll probably get kicked out for being "too noisy." This is why I gave only 4 stars due to the poor Professionalism & Flexibility demonstrated by the associate priest. Other than that mishap, we were very happy to share this special day with our family & friends.
