Q:
Anyone one know why their green curry is extremely green? Trying to figure out if it's food coloring?
A:
I haven't personally asked but I also don't believe they would use food coloring. The vibrancy of green in green curries is typically dependent on the types of herbs + spices used since the chlorophyll that breaks down is what we see as the "green"… more

Are they offering online ordering ? Or are we allowed to go in and order?
A:
I always call ahead to order. It can take them 15-30 minutes to get the food ready. They also take orders in person. Their website also has online order feature too but I never tried it.

We walked up to the restaurant and got on the waitlist. Once we got a table we were quickly taken care of. Service was quick and food was delicious. The spring rolls were full of carrots, avocado, herbs and tofu; no noodles or cabbage used as fillers. The basil sauce veggies were a bit spicy but not overwhelming. Over all we had a great experience.

We walked into this spot Sunday around 4pm and got a table with no wait. We got the pad kee mao, yellow curry, and suki. Food came out at a record pace (under 10 mins). Everything was flavorful and great prices!
This was my first time having Suki but it was such a unique and comforting flavor. Sweet and sour well balanced broth. Would come back anytime I am in Berkeley.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenny C.San Francisco, CA1411Apr 10, 2024
Good place for Thai food craving if you're in the area, we liked the menu with description of ingredients in each dish. Can get busy during dinner time but service was quick!
Pad kee mao - 3.5/5 solid portion, flavorful but personally not a fan of the charred flavor my dish had. Spice level is tolerable.
Yen ta foh - 3/5 generous toppings and noodles, soup is slightly thick and on the sweeter side, packed with seafood flavors. First time having this dish but not what we expected!
Spicy eggplant - 3/5 big chunks of eggplant, can choose among protein choices of beef, chicken, pork, tofu or veggies. Eggplants came out to be a bit firm, but flavorful.
Not pictured - Su kho thai 4/5: this was my personal favorite because of the spicy and sour flavors of the soup. Array of toppings added great touch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 13880Apr 10, 2024
One of the best spots in Berkeley! The food is always amazing and has great flavor. There's usually a line and you can only join the waitlist in person, but it's definitely worth the wait. There's seating outside as well which is nice on days with good weather.
My favorite dishes are the basil chicken rice plate and the pad kee mao. Everything is great value because the prices are reasonable and the portions are pretty big.

Food was 8.5/10 and service was 6.5/10!
When we walked in the building, it was very small. When we were seated, we had to kind of squish together to fit at the table. I shared the Duck Over Rice, Garlic Chicken, and Sticky Mango Rice with my partner. The duck was delcious and tender, but it was a little too gamy for me. I thought the sauce was very sweet and the dip that came with the dish was very vinegary. I thought it was a little underwhelming and I wished they added more cucumber slices. Also I thought the rice was dry. The garlic chicken was nice and flavorful. The sauce that came with the chicken was pretty good. I really like the broccoli cause the sauce gets trapped in the florets! The mango sticky rice was delicious! The mango was sweet and the rice wasn't overly mushy.
The service was okay. They were nice and quick. They looked really exhausted and dead inside. They were running around and doing their best to be attentive to every table.
Overall, I would go here again if I'm in the city!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 2024
This restaurant was good! Very busy and popular so I'd recommend coming on the earlier side for lunch or dinner. But, once you get seated the food is FAST! Our entire dinner came out all at once about 5 minutes after we ordered. The service was great, friendly and efficient. The food was good, but didn't blow me away. We ordered Chicken Pad See Ew and Pad Thai and their Fried Rolls (which are just vegetable spring rolls). I'd rate their pad see ew and pad Thai both around a 7.5-8, and the Fried Rolls a 9-10. Very solid yummy meal but I've had better Pad See Ew and Pad Thai in Berkeley. The Pad See Ew was good but on the sweeter side with not enough of the usual charred soy sauce flavor and the Pad Thai had great flavor but was kinda dry and had a lot of chili chunks/paste in it. The Fried Rolls were huge and perfection - definitely recommend getting!
Overall, I'd rate this place an 8/10 and do recommend coming here. It is a good place to take family or friends for a somewhat quick lunch/dinner. Just come early or be prepared to wait! I feel like it's a really good restaurant that I may have rated higher if I tried different dishes since I suspect we may have just ordered the wrong things. So, I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 16, 2024
We came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and there was a bit of a wait. The ambiance was very lively as it is close to the campus there were a lot of students. The waitress was very timely and took our orders and the food also came out with relatively little wait.
I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Although it was listed as medium spicy by default on the menu, I did think it was very spicy. Overall the bush was amazing and very flavorful! The noodles were chewy and the chicken was flavorful! This time I didn't get the Thai Iced Tea, but I also highly recommend that!
I will definitely be back in the future to try other items on the menu!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Feb 6, 2024
The rumors are true! Imm Thai is the best Thai restaurant around UC Berkeley.
Imm Thai often has a wait. I would arrive on the earlier side if you don't want a line. The inside isn't big, but they do fit a lot of tables in there. There is also outdoor seating. Although, I have seen the outdoor space not in use when it was raining.
The menu offers salads, rice dishes, curries, noodles, and more. I almost always order pad see ew with tofu. Their version of pad see ew comes with some sort of powder sprinkled on top. I think it might be white pepper, so I will usually mix it in before eating. The noodles are perfectly thick and chewy. The crispness of the Chinese broccoli provides nicely complements the softness of the noodles and tofu. The dish is so satisfying!
The restaurant is a short walk from the edge of campus and is easily accessible via public transit. If you decide to drive, you'll have to find street parking.
Imm Thai is a Berkeley classic for good reason. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 4, 2024
Quick Summary
- Close to the Downtown BART station
- Could be difficult to find parking space near the restaurant because it's located on a popular street
- Outdoor seating available
Whenever I walk by I see a long line out of the door, every time. It's located along University Ave. It's one of the popular streets clogged with cars and public transportation, so I don't recommend parking here. I prefer taking the BART and walking 2.5 blocks to get to this street.
I visited here once but it was around the time I haven't made an account yet. I decided to give it another try after so many years.
It was a quiet holiday when we visited. There was no line or a waitlist, so we were promptly let inside and got a seat. We ordered rice paper rolls, a rice plate, and a Bamee Boo Dang (the pork noodle soup).
The food came in different orders, the first being the rice paper rolls, then the noodle soup, and then the rice plate.
Our favorite was the rice plate. The flavoring of the meat was balanced and the vegetables were also seasoned in the same way. I also liked how the rice and protein ratio was equal, so the rice wasn't left over.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2023
My best friend suggested we dine at Imm for lunch. This is her favorite Thai restaurant and I can see why--great quality, reasonably priced, and a fun atmosphere.
The restaurant is a go-to for students and locals so you can expect a wait. The inside is quite small and crowded, ideal for pairs and small groups. The ambiance is casual and hip while the service was albeit slow.
Plenty of items are offered on the menu for all tastebuds. My friend recommended the noodles so I got the Pad See Ew with Chicken (you can choose your protein). The noodles were flavorful and for the cost the portion was reasonable. I just wish there were more Gai Lan since I love it. She got the Pad Kee Mao with Pork. We both enjoyed our meal and had leftovers (they charge for a bag).
Imm Thai Street Food is a Berkeley staple off of University Ave. Parking is metered. Lines or not, it's worth a try as the dishes are appetizing and inexpensive.Helpful 31Thanks 9Love this 30Oh no 1
