Been a customer of Ian's for, probably more than 20 years. Today I brought in one of our cars to have them replace a brake light. They not only replaced the light, they did NOT even charge me (even when I asked them to).
This sort of customer service will keep me a loyal customer for the next 20 years!
I figured they wouldn't let me pay them for their work, so I thought I'd share a VERY positive review as a way to tell them "thank you".Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15143332Dec 22, 2023
I'm relatively new to Ian's. I sat in waiting room for a couple of hours and was impressed by the sheer volume of folks that kept coming in the door, most of whom were women. Staff seems non-smoking, which I appreciate. Bathroom is clean. Hardest part is that an appointment, I learned, is not a guaranteed slot for a rack. They seem to have two hour windows for oil changes, depending on how the other jobs are going, so it's not a quick in-and-out. I bought tires there and get free rotation. Overall a pleasant place; I just wish the oil changes could be scheduled more precisely.

Had a loud clanky noise under my engine whenever I drove over bumps for the last few months. I drop my vehicle off and I thought it might be a quick fix or tightening need. I come back an hour later and find out they were to lazy to put a Jack under my car to look. They said they wouldn't look at it because it was too big, someone they should have noticed and said something about when I dropped the car off.
I go to America tire depot down the street and in 5 mins they find out there's a sway bar bushing that needed to be replaced. This place is too much of a hassle to deal with. The owner and workers are totally incompetent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christie C.Santa Barbara, CA4183Sep 29, 2023
Ian's was recommended to me and I am so thankful! The staff are nice and very knowledgeable. They are also honest! They will not try to oversell anything and will suggest the right parts/repairs and do their best to stay within your budget. Many times they overestimate the time required to work on my tiny car so I just wait and read or something in the waiting area. It's also nice that I can bring my car in when the low tire pressure light comes on and they will do their best to check it out right away since mine is overly sensitive.
Ian's really does do more than just tires too!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris M.Santa Barbara, CA484Feb 15, 2024
I love this tire shop! Which is something I NEVER say, because I generally hate dealing with the excuses most shops give to avoid working on your tires so they can sell you new ones. These guys are honest and they want to help. If I get a screw in my tires I go straight to this shop, so I'm already there if it needs repair. They're always friendly, fast, courteous, and reasonable. They fix tires pronto and never try to oversell, which I really appreciate. 5 stars- they have earned my business for years, let them earn yours!

I wish I could give Ian's Tire a 10 Star Review! their friendly service and attention to detail is superio. They saved us Thousands of dollars. we were told we needed four new tires as one had a nail. Not So, one tire had a screw and was repaired by Ian's with a repair that will last the life of the 4 tires

Screw in middle of tire tread. 4/32 " tread depth. Eric suggested plug & patch probably good into spring / summer ( my driving - mostly city -SB) then new tires. Made good sense, I'm very happy w these guys & will definitely be back to get my new shoes (tires) . No hard sale , just good advice. No wonder they have so many "Best Of" awards.

I've gone to Ian's several times for tires and they have always been very nice.
The last two times I've taken my cars there the experience was not so nice. I brought my car in for two new tires and an alignment. After waiting much longer than expected and my car being done for 20 minutes while no one told me as I wait inside the office, they tell me that my car needs $5k worth of work and it's so bad they can't even do an alignment.
They proceed to try and charge me for an alignment they couldn't do and want to schedule the $5k worth of work.
I took my car to two other mechanics, one whom I go to regularly and one another tire shop. Both tell me there is nothing wrong with my car and the tire shop aligns all 4 tires no problem.
I have found better prices on tires and more honest businesses elsewhere.
I have to agree with the other comments of ladies beware of this place. But I would also advise anyone to be aware.
Unfortunately I will not trust this place again even though they all act very polite.
And Ian's - don't bother to comment with a response ... there is no talking your way out of this one.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Hi Jenny,
It appears you had a bad experience. I checked with all my staff and none of this sounds familiar. Sometimes we recommend front end work on a vehicle where doing the alignment does not make sense. Recommending $5,000 in work is not normal either. Could you please contact us so we can have more information regarding your experience with us?

I just drove 51 miles because Tony (at Ian's tire & auto repair) had me come on in right away to have my 2nd set of new (special ordered) tires installed. I told him I had to pick up my granddaughter by 3pm in Carpinteria, and he said it "should be no problem". I went straight there only to find that everyone was going to lunch! Tony is a nice guy. Maybe he didn't factor in the lunch break?
To make matters worse Tony wasn't there and the guy at the counter told me condescendingly they could install the tires AFTER lunch. Period. Sounds reasonable, But I explained that I had to pick up my little granddaughter from summer camp (26 miles away at rush hour) and the wait likely wouldn't allow me to get to her on time. She would be sad if I were late and camp counselors wouldn't be able to leave. I had to decline the wait.
I drove the 25 miles back home. I am disappointed and embarrassed by the nonchalant way I was sent away (in front of the people in the office). It wasted my time. I drove 51 miles and got nothing but disappointment and a rude guy (not Tony) being "firm". I wish I had his name.
I wont be using them again. Good luck if you do.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1
