I still remember when my mom first took me on this ride as a little boy. This was my first high-speed roller coaster that I ever rode and I was scared out of mind that first time. But at the same time, I loved it. I have been on this ride so many time since then. Space Mountain opened in 1977 after the success of the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The ride is located in Tomorrowland.

Even through its many renovations, Space Mountain has always been one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. It is a fun high speed thrill ride indoors through space. The many sharp turns and small dips adds to the fun of the ride. I usually put my hands up and still today get nervous that my hands might hit the track above me. In the old days before fast pass, we would wait hours in line to ride Space Mountain.

The ride is changed to a Star Wars-themed ride usually around May the Fourth and is renamed Hyperspace Mountain. Admiral Ackbar's voice can be heard and clips of John Williams' score of the Star Wars films is played while on the ride.

The only way is to pay.
The line was 60 minutes and it doesn't move. You stand and stand and suddenly move a few yards then 5 minutes of standing still. Just like the freeways, 60 minutes is a long time if you stop completely for 5+ minutes.
We had the lightening pass and for some reason we didn't use it on the ride. This was a mistake.
Buy the pass and use it properly.

I recently soared through the cosmos aboard Space Mountain at Disneyland, and wow, what an interstellar adventure! As you step into Tomorrowland, the anticipation builds with its futuristic vibes and the distant sound of starships. Once inside, the dimly lit queue immerses you in a cosmic journey, teasing the celestial thrill awaiting.

Boarding the sleek spacecraft, you're catapulted into darkness, racing through an electrifying galaxy of flashing stars and cosmic swirls. The exhilarating twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat, as you zoom through the void, feeling the rush of intergalactic speeds.

The ingenious combination of thrilling drops, unexpected turns, and the sensation of weightlessness create an otherworldly experience. You can't help but surrender to the spellbinding universe unfolding around you. The ambient soundtrack adds an extra layer of enchantment, heightening the adrenaline-pumping journey.

Space Mountain encapsulates the true magic of Disney--an enchanting fusion of technology and storytelling that transports you to an unknown frontier. Whether it's your first voyage or your hundredth, this timeless attraction continues to captivate adventurers of all ages, leaving you with a sense of wonder and an insatiable desire to explore the cosmos again and again. Truly a must-visit for any galactic explorer!

Wow, wow, wow! Talk about a great dark coaster and making it better with more immersive effects such as computer generated imagery. It is no wonder they can do seasonal overlays of this attraction.

This is definitely one you must lightning lane if you don't get it first thing in the morning. You still have a bit of a wait but nowhere near if you get on in the standby lane. As you walk on the gantry level you are parallel with this giant spacecraft that hovers over the entry platform.

Once you are assigned a row move quickly to secure your belongings and get strapped in. This ride wastes no time in getting you on your voyage. Going up the first accent ramp you head through a tunnel of blue parallel lights with space age sounds. You are then hurled up the ascent ramp covered with stars and red lights as you prepare for you ultimate blast off with more space age music. From there all you see are stars but the ride hits you with sharp turns, sudden drops and twists. You have no idea where you are going until you enter the multicolored lights re entry area where your vehicle slows you down signaling the end of your journey. Somewhere along the ride a camera captures you in the midst of the action for a free download when you exit.

It truly is one of my favorite coasters I like to ride at Disney. It can go up to 35 mph in speed.

The Magic Kingdom counterpart: Equal-Space mountain in the Magic Kingdom has two different tracks with vehicles running at different times as you make your way up the hill with a Space station that is above you. There is no 2nd ascent ramp, just the long one leading to the top.The seating is different. There you are seated Matterhorn style in a group of three whereas here you are seated two across. It alerts you as to how long until you blast off. As you approach the top prior to blastoff you can reference the moon at the top as your focal point once your vehicle starts its wild ride in the dark. The ride at the Magic Kingdom is equally as vicious however at the end you get to take a slow moving walkway through a futurist area.

Still having an immersive experience is one I cannot beat. I've heard this ride gets a Star Wars overlay in May. Would be great to try it out then.

Located in Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park.

Since I was a kid this has been my favorite attraction in Disneyland and as an adult, I look forward to Hyperspace Mountain every year! Wish it stayed longer than May, but I'm glad it returns every year as I miss Disney bringing Ghost Galaxy yearly!

This ride has mostly indoors queue, so it's great for the summer and can cool down with this high speed indoor roller coaster. This ride is eligible for Genie+ so don't forget to book, and is still worth a 60-minute wait if you have to do standby. A must see attraction for both nostalgia and fun ride zipping through space!

Space Mountain reaches speeds of 32 mph and requires riders to be 40" (102 cm) or taller. Experience an exhilarating roller-coaster journey through the darkness, racing to the edge of the galaxy and back. Your photo is captured during the ride, which you can view later in the Disneyland app.

SPACE MOUNTAIN, you still got it!! It feels like it's been a long time since I've ridden this ride! It still looks the same but over the years, some of my favorites from my childhood (see my scathing review of Pirates of the Caribbean) haven't held up. Space Mountain, thankfully came through!

The wait was not bad, 45 minutes, and we were routes through an entrance that I'd never seen but once you see the ride, it seems like you're on the ride! Once you're in the "lobby", it's a quick walk to the ride!

The whole ride is dark with lights and effects which are meant to simulate a ride through space and it really does GO! The pace is fantastic, you can't see well enough to make out the turns and the length of the ride is altogether SATISFYING! .

Incredicoaster is still my favorite and I'm trying not to hand out 5 star ratings unless they're deserved and Space Mountain, especially for an older ride, TOTALLY DESERVES IT!!

Over the years, still one of the bests rides at Disney. Navigate through a vast futuristic space station as you make your way to Mission Control.

I don't know if it's nostalgia or not, but this is my absolute favorite ride at Disneyland. The combination of the dark and the tight turns make this simple ride thrilling. This ride typically book ends my day at the park. It's a great one to get on first thing to avoid wait times.

One of the fastest Disney rides, this old classic still delivers. Renovated now and then so it looks good and the Star Wars themed May the 4th reskin is the must visit time.
