Service is excellent. Let me first say it's not the waitstaff that makes this restaurant so awful. It's the food. My cheesesteak was just a couple slices of deli roast beef, barely reheated to room temperature, with two tiny slivers of green pepper, 3 small bits of mushroom and the only reason I think there might have been cheese was the orange coloring on the cold meat. The bun was dry and obviously a week old. I'll spare the folks reading this by not describing my friend's cheeseburger.
The floor was filthy which made the rest of the place's cleanliness suspect. Upon leaving the parking lot, we drove behind the restaurant and employees were standing at the open back door smoking weed and cigarettes. Could have been CBD, but the odor was unmistakable.
I honestly don't understand why anyone would eat there. I am truly surprised the place is even open at all. Don't waste your money or your health on this restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason k.NC, NC02Dec 20, 2023

We have been going to Highway 55 since it was Andy's! The food is yummy! Delicious cheesesteaks, yummy fries and tots, and great burgers! I used to love the orange Ade but they no longer make it fresh; so I drink soda instead. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The place was busy, but they had three or four guys cooking, and about 5 or 6 waitresses! They had plenty of workers and they were busy! It didn't seem very organized though--the waitresses didn't seem to have set stations, and they didn't seem to know which tables to help. We waited for a while for our order to be taken, but it didn't take very long for the food to come out. The food was good and hot and the order was correct! After we ate, I took the bill and went up to pay. There were several other folks also waiting to pay. There wasn't one person dedicated to the register and it was kind of like whomever walked by the register would call one or two people up to pay. I waited in this line for well over 5 minutes to pay. Waitresses walked by several times and never even looked in the direction of the line of about 7 or 8 parties waiting to pay. With so many servers, I would assume someone could stop and take money from customers. There seemed to be ample people working to handle the crowd. However, because they didn't have designated areas, and they were scrambling around to get food out and take care of tables over here and way over there. I'm not really complaining about the service...but then again I guess I am. I am not used to having to stand in a line as long as I did to give an establishment money. Usually they are ready quickly to take money. Get organized Highway 55! And get that sanitation grade up! A "B" is not good!

Great service and friendly atmosphere. I had the Lil' Cheeseburger and it was just enough to fill me up. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because they don't have malts anymore.

A great place to eat a cheese steak, bask in 50's nostalgia, and maybe even fall in love. The menus are laminated. Service was great, the young lady called me by the wrong name but we all make mistakes, I know I have. The cheese steak and diet Pepsi combo will knock your socks off. One time I came here and got called into work so I left.

Ordered a chicken cheesesteak and it tasted like burnt grill, I'm not sure why they can't clean the grill before they cook the food or simply slow down and not burn it. The wait staff seems to be annoyed all the time, definitely my last time giving this place a try, I'll just go to Greenville.

I've only eaten once at one of these and didn't remember how they work
I entered at lunch time as was greeted by several employees, but they were all tied up
I stood for a pretty long time waiting to be seated (??), but never was
Left and went to Arby's
A sign to seat yourself or to wait would be very helpfulHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Scott G.Myrtle Beach, SC1103Apr 16, 2015First to Review
Washington is a small and humble town so when we arrived, we had to search diligently for good places to eat. This place is just plain fun. They have old fashioned counter service if you prefer to watch them cook your burger.
For burger lovers, a great selection of FREE toppings - watch out Five Guys! My wife had the Philly cheesesteak. All great! We'll be back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tyrianna W.Washington, NC03May 8, 2021
Food is always fine but the service depends heavily on the waitresses on the phone they aren't as nice as if you go inside so I don't think they like taking call in orders. Glad they got rid of the racist manager and diversified their staff a bit more !

I ordered two burgers, was charged for two. Asked if the contents of the stapled bag had two in it. The waitress said yes. I get home 30 minutes later, 1 burger. My husband enjoyed it
