We came for lunch on our way to the beach. There was a choice between a "hot bar" and food cooked to order from the grill.

At first glance, The Hub looked like a place where we were going to get some down and dirty home cooking. It was not to be so...

Our waitress gave us more than just a couple of minutes to look at the menu - she disappeared for quite some time. I guess you're supposed to know what you want already when you come here. Maybe they should rename it, the ESP Grill.

My hamburger was super greasy and not all that good. The fries were barely warm and were obviously taken off the hot bar and not cooked to order. The best thing I ate there was some of the pork barbeque but it was not enough to overcome the lack of service or other tasteless food items. Getting a refill was like pulling a tooth without anesthesia, painful.

The interior is old and decrepit. Things just look and feel dirty in there. I also do not enjoy having to constantly shoo flies away from my food (indoors especially).

I later told a friend about my experience there. He wished I had called him first and told me about the time he ate there and was served brown tap water. A pipe in town had leaked and contained mud; they still served it.

Anyway, my review is based on my own experiences and not his anecdote. Maybe and hopefully breakfast is better...

Nice local spot, we stopped on a whim. Place, very popular, as it was packed. Just good home cooking--meat and three, or you can order from the grill.

I love these places-I had fried chicken, pork chop with greens. The food was very good and value excellent. I would have taken a picture, but I quickly inhaled my food!!!

My husband and I - who are local - arrived at 950am on a Saturday. We sat at a table for about 10 minutes before a waitress came to us and said that there was no more orders being taken for breakfast (breakfast closes at 1030) and there would be a 1 hour wait for any food for lunch. Because the cook was behind. I love this place - I come here often for breakfast during the week. And beyond annoyed that I had to turn to Waffle House to get breakfast on a date with my husband. Please - get another cook help plow through weekend demand. One shouldn't have to wait for an hour for biscuits and gravy.

Love the Hub. I just wish that they would deliver! PLEASE start delivering to us here in Wadesboro! I'd order every week if I could have it delivered. Why not use the service GRUBHUB? It would not only be creating jobs for delivery workers but you'd reach more people!

I read about Hub Grill on Yelp! I was not disappointed. It is a typical country grill with great food. My husband and I enjoyed the fried chicken with two vegetables! It was delicious!

I've been coming to The Hub since my dad brought me as a kid 20+ years ago, and very little has changed since then. This is a genuine local dive that has been serving breakfast and lunch to more or less the same crowd of regulars for longer than my 27 years. It's a very un-pretentious place, and at least as far as I can tell, they still do things the way they always have and that's really what makes this place special, more-so than the food, though the food is good too. The "doing things the way they've always been done" also refers to ordering food and wait service, so don't be afraid to ask questions if you're confused and don't be shy about speaking up if you need service.

The food is good (and the fried chicken is excellent!), but if you expect it to be the best you've ever had, you may be disappointed. For both breakfast and lunch, they have standard diner food (eggs, bacon, hamburgers, fries, etc.). For lunch, they also have a cafeteria style buffet where you can choose from the daily option of meats and vegetables, though fried chicken is usually served daily. Like with most cafeteria-style food that is prepared in advance and isn't made to order, some food items may not always be perfect--the last time I got fried okra, it was slightly overcooked--but it's still generally very good.

      Food Recommendations (or my favorites):
      Breakfast
      - Sandy's Special (or just The Special): It's a sausage/bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a hamburger bun (not a biscuit). It's basic. It's good.
      - Pancakes. When Sandy was still on the grill, he would make me "smiley cakes" as a kid--pancakes with additional pancake batter poured on the grill in the shape of eyes and a mouth, placed on top of the pancakes to make a smiley face. Not just for me, though. Anyone could order them. Not sure if Scott, his son, has carried on this tradition, but the pancakes here are really good nonetheless.
      - Bacon, Eggs, Grits, etc. Basically, anything for breakfast is going to be good. It's just good diner-style breakfast food.

      Lunch:
      - The Fried Chicken. It's not always hot out of the fryer, but it's some of the best fried chicken I've ever had, and you won't find better restaurant-prepared fried chicken in at least a 30-50 mile radius.
      - The Cornbread. Likewise, don't expect it to have come right out of the oven that minute, and it's not cooked in cast iron, but it's very good (and very buttery) cornbread.
      - The Greens (Turnip or Collards): I usually don't like sweetened greens, but theirs are an exception. They strike a good balance between sweet and savory and are some of the best restaurant-prepared greens I've had.

      General Tips:
      - If you're drinking sweet tea and you're eating in, you can usually serve yourself by grabbing a cup from the dish rack on the far right when you enter, and filling it with ice and the tea dispenser sitting by the ice maker.
      - Don't be shy about asking for refills or wait service. You'll get what you need, but like many old-school diners you might have to be (respectfully) direct, or you might even have to (god forbid) get up from the table to ask for it.

Really, REALLY good home cooking!! They say that while out of town to go where the locals go, and The Hug Grill is one of those places where locals go and they sure pack 'em in here! Partly cafeteria style, partly lunch counter but very homey all around. Super friendly and prompt staff who certainly make you feel welcome.

I will definitely make the Hub Grill a regular stop while in Wadesboro.....gotta try their breakfast soon.....

Ok so my friend lives in Wadesboro and this was my first time here and hanging out in Wadesboro. The HUB is what its called and it reminds me of "Merlottes" from True blood. Its defintely a local hang out. There breakfast is good havent had lunch or dinner there yet. EVERYBODY KNOWS EVERYONE that comes thru that place. I recommend this place its different and a good taste of the Southern Hospitatlity.

The Hub Restaurant has been in Wadesboro for over 50 years. Always homemade and delicious. Lunch buffet brings you country vegetables along with well prepared meats. I used to be a curb boy back in the 60's. Consistently good food and good ole boy atmosphere. You should try it.

Best burger in Wadesboro. The cafeteria bar also has some of the best home cooking in Anson county.
