Not to be confused with Houston Pubic Media.

PBS is a great service, although it has to be said that every station should be like PBS and should be providing the public with a service, rather than just trying to make profit and sell commercial spots.

Nevertheless thank goodness they exist, and long may they continue.

We love some of their wildlife shows a little too much, even though they can be harrowing AF.

In a supposed free country like America, PBS should be everything... instead of an afterthought.

I grew up watching PBS, but I had never visited the actual building before. These guys are still going strong with lots of community involvement and activities. With Cable in almost every home local broadcasting gets forgotten about.

Pretty sure this is the only station I can literally tear up and almost cry with joy at its excellence. I can tune in to PBS almost any evening and enjoy what is showing. How many stations can claim that? Saturday nights and especially Sunday nights, PBS is my go-to station. Austin City Limits is a wonderful place to check out what really good musicians are up to. Recently they broadcast Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters. Led Zeppelin's front man is still performing at age 68 with magnificent musicians. Masterpiece is nonpareil with its star Downton Abbey series, as well as enjoying the Durrells, Mr. Selfridge, The Paradise, Luther, Foyle's War, Poldark, Indian Summers, Endeavour, The Tunnel, Wolf Hall, Grantchester, Father Brown, Dr. Blake, Agatha Christie, Phrynie Fisher, various incarnations of Sherlock Holmes mysteries. American Masters had Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix wow; Ken Burns anything he touches = all gold, not a clunker among them. It's an endless list of good shows I look forward to each week. I visit places and cultures and artworks, past and present, I'd otherwise not encounter, and listen to ideas I wouldn't otherwise hear.

I cannot exaggerate to say PBS enriches my life immeasurably. Houston's public TV station was the first in the country to eschew advertising as its operating budget source. They've left it up to the viewers to support excellent programming, and the viewers consistently rise to the challenge. Here's Thanks to Everyone for PBS's continued existence.
