Great small town bar. Food and drinks are affordable. Occasionally they have live music. My only complaint itnis a smoking establishment.

They make my drinks strong & they've had karaoke from time to time. I give one star ratings to bars who never have karaoke.

First off, I slipped and very nearly broke my ankle at the exit where water was dripping right at the entranceway and had formed a ton of black ice, and busted up my elbow, fully sober. Great management guys, you'll hear from my lawyers.
Second off, my one friend didn't have his ID on him. Let me break this down. I used to manage a nightclub, I get the liability issues, which are almost as serious as something like black ice at your entranceway. But the bartender who switched out for the nice older blonde lady, a fatter less attractive less talented Amy Winehouse lookalike, felt like picking a straight fight with my friend about being in a bar without an ID, which in fact wasn't an accurate read of the law. We did our best to not take it personal despite that we were tipping in the area of 50% with the expectation of good service and our party represented about two thirds of the patrons. So we already had a bunch of beers and had just started another game of pool, so I wandered over to politely say, "excuse me, I get it and we're going to head out and go home so you don't have to worry about us, but could you just let us spend a few minutes to finish our drinks, he won't touch a drop and we'll be on our way?" She turns on me and nearly yells, "Well actually, he should have already got going the first time I said anything, so no, he needs to get out right now." I nearly saw red and my friend was so embarrassed he walked out with his head down. I went to follow him, and immediately twisted my ankle just outside the door on the black ice.
We went to Kutztown Tavern and got essentially the same reaction to him not having his ID, but the bartender said it like this, "I'm sorry, most likely you're right, but the owner is my friend and the fines are ridiculous, on his behalf I just can't risk it." I told him I absolutely understood and we left, saying, "Well at least he was nice."
Not so with Amy Wideass.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christy S.Oley, PA103May 29, 2014First to Review
It's a bar, cheap beer, friendly staff! They have a pool table and music! Great place to unwind!
