Needed a few electrical outlets and switches to be troubleshot around my older townhouse and garage. The service tech that came was astute at accessing the issue and explaining to me what the resolve would be.
The first issues at hand was a halway three-way switch that would only work if the other switch was in the on position. The service tech spent about 30-45 correcting the wiring so that the both light switches work as advertised. The second was correcting the wiring in my garage which at first seemed like a daunting task due to the accessibility/small crawl space to get where the electrical work was required. But yet again, the service tech knock this project out seamlessly and better than than initially thought.
The total cost for these repairs was approximately $400 for a couple hours of work. As a homeowner, that cost seemed reasonable enough for that peace of mind that an electrical issue was corrected to code. I requested a free quote to install one outlet inside a closet, one outlet on our back deck, and install a bathroom fan. The technician arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. However, he was planning to conduct an install, not provide a quote so there was a little confusion at first. He then explained how written quotes usually result in customers overpaying so we agreed on a verbal quote. I'd never had electrical work done before so I had no idea what to expect, but I thought that was kind of weird. I provided all material and 40 minutes later the technician was done and gave me a bill for a $150 which was quite a bit more than the verbal quote because it included some sort of service fee. I should have questioned it at the time, but I was confused and wimped out. Also, I felt like the technician could have done a better job of cutting the outlet whole (see pic) and he didn't have a proper cover in his truck...but he gave me a temporary cover for free to keep curious fingers out.
After leaving a negative review yesterday the owner called me directly to try and make things right. I was very impressed by that and his willingness to earn my future business. My biggest complaint was that no one told me about the service fee, which is The owner apologized and refunded that cost to me! I have used these guys over the years for various things and they have never done me wrong. Last night my AC stopped, 80 degrees in the house this morning. Not pleasant...I called the shop at 8 am and a technician arrived at 8:40. I expected to be told I need a new unit, mine is getting pretty old. And that's what they do right? Upsell-nope not these folks. My unit was dirty and had too much freon, weird but ok. He cleaned it up and got it running perfectly again. He even told me I had several years left on it. To top it all off my bill was very reasonable, half what I thought it would be.
