Can you still get up on the seats and dance? Do they still have a live band? My family came to this place by accident a few years ago and have been wanting to come back. But wouldn't be the same without the live atmosphere we experienced before.

      A:

We still get up on the benches and dance. Usually live music is Saturday evening and first Tuesday for keg tapping.

I brought the team to Hofbrauhaus for lunch over the holidays. I thought it would be more decked out but not to be. However, the atmosphere was good and conducive for a group outing. The benches were heavy and not easily to get into/out of with the long table.

Food was good. We started off with some appetizers to share. I got a sampler, which was perfect given I couldn't decide on what to get.

Parking was a bit challenging as the lot and garage are shared with nearby businesses and Grandview Yard residents.

We were at your place last night; we come every month or so. We didn't have a great experience.

Our waitress was really pushing us to make our orders, and we just wanted to sit there and enjoy ourselves. I don't understand this as it wasn't that busy, and you guys weren't turning tables over at all.

We tried the new menu items, including the BBQ chicken sandwich. The chicken was tiny. The onion rings were fine.

I had the Cap City Spaetzle. It wasn't good at all. I told the waitress it wasn't good. I didn't finish it--I left about 75% in the bowl. It was bland. The few tiny pieces of sausage were okay, but there wasn't even enough for half a sausage in there.

I told the waitress I didn't like it. I clearly left most of it on the plate. No attempt to fix the situation was made (even asking me if I wanted to order something additional--not for free, just something else edible).

I'm generally not one to complain about anything. However, the quality last night was subpar for the amount we had to pay for both quality and service.

We'll be back, but not for a while.

      GREAT server!
      WORSE than lackluster food!
I just spent $60 (incl tip) for my wife and my dinners!
I ordered a Cobb salad that was half the size of a Cobb salad at pretty much ANY other restaurant where I would have gotten better quality! ONE hard boiled egg and half a tasteless chicken breast. I could go on but it's not worth the effort. My wife ordered a salad with chicken (a third bigger than mine!) The only good thing she could say about it was that the chicken wasn't dry! Her salad arrived AFTER everyone at the table was already eating!
Our server was AMAZING! I hope maybe he'll end up at another, better quality restaurant worthy of his people skills!
If I'm "going German" for my dining I'll stick to SCHMIDTS!

I had some trepidation trying out the Columbus Hofbräuhaus as I grew up going to the original one in Munich and I'm from Bavaria. The Gemütlichkeit (atmosphere) factor is a 10/10. Service is wonderful too. It feels like the Stuben in Munich (upstairs where the locals eat) and the beer is good. But the food is just disappointing. Bavarian staples are missing: Weißwurst, Schweinsbraten, Krustenbraten. The German food they have is Americanized and not authentic at all. They only have Schnitzel Wiener Art (not made from veal) and the preparation of it isn't correct either as it's not thin and not pan fried so the breading is crispy and slightly lifting up from the meat. The Brezn are ok but American soft ones. Munich ones have crispy legs with a soft top. Don't get me started on the Spätzle which were just odd and the potato salad is not authentic either. The Schwarzwälderkirschkuchen is way too sweet and I couldn't taste the liquor. Wouldn't be served with chocolate sauce either.

Will I come back? Maybe if I crave some German atmosphere but I probably would just go to Gemüt in old town east where the food is much more authentic and the atmosphere is equally nice.

Music is insanely loud at 6pm. many diners finished quickly and left when the band started to play.
The band on the evening of our visit didn't even think that people wanted to watch the 2 minutes of the KY Derby race and be able to talk to their neighbors about the race in progress. The band didn't bother to pause their set.
We mentioned to our waiter that the band was excessively loud and he just shrugged and agreed, but did nothing.

We were there on a Wednesday evening for dinner and a reservation. We were seated immediately. HBhaus has a good atmosphere and is massive, with lots and lots of seating. Rachel B was our server, and she was super. The beer is solid German beer, so what's not to like?
The food is only average. We had the Jägerschnitzel, breaded Pork Cutlet fried crisp and golden brown, topped with a Burgundy Wine Mushroom Sauce. Served with German Potato Salad, Fried Cabbage, and Bauern Schnitzel; breaded Pork Cutlet fried crisp and golden brown, topped with Black Forest Ham, Swiss Cheese, and our Signature Homemade Bier Cheese. Served with German Potato Salad and Sauerkraut, the kraut was too sweet, and the potato salad was not very tangy. We have been to local family-owned German restaurants in the area. Family-owned restaurants won out.

I had been to a Hofbrauhaus in another state before, but this was my first visit in Columbus. Same overall layout, large interior space with plenty of bar seating and picnic style tables on the main floor. We sat at the bar and ordered up a flight of their beers. We wanted a snack as we did not want to eat a full meal, so we ordered up the pretzels and beer cheese. These were delicious, soft and flavorful. The beer cheese had a great consistency, and the flavor was great. I also enjoy the pretzels with some of the stone ground mustard they have at the able as well. Our server was spot on, very attentive, and kept us stocked with water. Overall, a cool spot for unique beer and eats.

You can always count on this location for solid beers and great food, especially anything with beer cheese. We stopped in to try one of their holiday flavorings for the Dunkel, chocolate Peppermint, and it did not disappoint. Couldn't say no to pretzels and beer cheese which are always amazing but the beer cheese chicken is my absolute favorite!

Felt like I was back in Munich. Great pork shank and authentic beer. Atmosphere looked just like a traditional German beer hall.

Food was excellent, I didn't have a giant Draft Beer but they looked amazing! The seating inside is booth or bench and it works for a big party. The service is good and very busy
