Currently, they just have to-go since they do not have any waiters/staff.
They have two short-term parking spots in front of the shop for free. I had arrived there and ordered Momo and Chicken Tikka Masala, which was both delicious. It took about 15 minutes for them to cook the food, so we had just waited in the restaurant.
Momo - you can't mess up momos! I wish they had a very spicy version of this. Momos are similar to dumplings but they have more spice/flavor than regular dumplings, in my opinion.
Chicken Tikka Masala -- this is more tomato-based and less creamy than I usually have, but it tastes delicious non-the-less. The chicken tikka masala was in a separate container from the basmati rice. There was nothing spectacular about this compared to other chicken tikka masalas I've had, but I enjoyed it nonetheless!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vineeth V.McLean, VA4955110Nov 23, 2021
Ordered a take out from here. Placed 2 orders of momo which and 2 types of sauces. Received only one type. Also Ordered chilli paneer. The chilli paneer was really terrible. Looked like frozen paneer cubes in tomato ketchup. Lacked any flavor or quality. The momo was equally unsatisfactory. The filling was low on salt. The packaging could also improve, the gravy dish came in a flat container which was leaking a bit.

Two and a half stars, they've gone a little downhill since the last time I visited. Delivery takes 1.5 hours when they estimate 45-60 minutes, so plan to pick up your order if you'd like to enjoy their reasonable-compared-to-competition prices. Very spicy isn't too crazy, so I wouldn't go any less spicy where appropriate.
The portioning is reasonable on the breads, but this is one of the few places that I'd recommend the plain naan over the garlic naan and tandoori roti. I enjoyed the aggressive amount of garlic on the former (and the char on the latter), but the garlic was coarsely diced and left the naan a little soggy. Mango lassi was fine. Goat curry has been consistently good. I probably would have rounded up if the potatoes in the chicken vindaloo hadn't been so undercooked.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 25, 2017
If you've been thinking about trying this place...don't...just go do it!
It'a an unassuming place, somewhat small and a bit off the beaten path but you won't be disappointed. I would recommend a reservation if you go on prime time Friday or Saturday evening.
White table cloth and napkins, very classy but casual atmosphere and a menu that looks like a book.
James wanted to go here for his bday dinner and appropriate before he heads off to go hike in Nepal. I wish I could tell you the name of the young lady who was our server but I could hardly understand a word. James makes an excellent interpreter.
We shared the Chicken MoMo dumplings for appetizer with several types of sauce...most excellent.
I had the Lamb Saag which was so good. It comes with rice and a large bowl of the lamb mixed with spinach and seasoned just so and we shared an order of the Keema Naan bread.
James had the stuffed Chatamari. All in all it was adventure in dining and we liked all of it.
They have such a great menu with with lamb, chicken, seafood and many vegetarian options.
Of course the secret here is in the spices and the preparation.
The service was just a bit slow so don't be in a hurry. They have an small outside patio when the weather is nice.

I have found the fountain of deliciousness, and this is it!
It's a relaxation vacation in a bowl ....
When I eat this best meal in the world,
I feel waves of relaxation cascading
from the top of my head
over my forehead, nose, ears,
back of head, shoulders
all over ...
an aura of alright-ness overtakes me,
and everything is better!
It puts my mind together ....
Whatever I get from here
is the best meal of the week!
Or of the half-week!
What that I've tried here
hasn't been
delicious, nutritious, and exciting?
What hasn't been nurturing,
comforting, and calming?
Everything I've had from here
has been this most perfect balance.
I am so glad this place exists!
I love the veggie Momo,
veggie Dumpling Soup,
veggie Tibetan Thukpa,
Daal Soup,
Buddha Delight,
Potato Paratha,
Potato Pickle,
Raita,
Asian Chopped Salad,
Vegetable Korma,
and some other things
but I don't remember
everything I've tried ....
The Asian Chopped Salad
I would say
is an especially good deal,
packed in there so tightly
you get so much --
and it's extremely delicious!
Crunchy, too!
The Daal Soup is so smooth,
super creamy consistency --
just remember to stir
if you get it delivered!
The paneer pakora
was maybe a bit much for me --
I mean, it's very filling!
The Khuchumber Salad,
be warned, is very spicy
for those who expect
a salad not to be ....
I used mine
to make a pizza bagel! :-)
The rice that accompanies
most every entrée
is fragrant and fluffy ... mmm!
The order has come
in a good amount of time
consistently, time after time,
as well ....
They are also friendly
and helpful,
and answered quickly
whenever I have had
a question ....
The only problem I have
is that everything is so good,
I always order too much!
So one meal is at least two ....
Ooh, my mouth is watering
as I write this review!
I can't wait to try more things!
I haven't had the Potato Chili fries yet!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2016
My husband and I made our way to Bethesda as a midpoint location to seeing our besties for dinner. We decided on Himalayan Heritage since we were all curious what Nepalese/Himalayan cuisines had to offer.
Pan fried chicken momo - pan fried is always the way to go! It was my first time having momo. The spice seasoning gave the filling an unique taste. The skin had the perfect texture and thickness. But I think I prefer the dollar for 5 dumplings from Chinatown... These momo cost $1 each - I was expecting them to be much bigger. And the orange dipping sauce had zero flavor.
Steamed pork momo - surprisingly the skin was much tougher. Perhaps the steaming process was the cause? The filling wasn't as flavourful as the chicken. 6 in an order - plenty to waste.
Spinach chaat - we loved rasika's version! Unfortunately It wasn't as crispy or flavourful. Everyone took a bite then waited for someone to finish it so we can clear the table.
Thankfully the main entrees were much agreeable to our palate.
Himalayan special - generous portion of stir fry chicken and goat pieces - the sauce was a cross of bbq and curry sauce. Almost every table in the restaurant ordered this dish. A little too greasy for my stomach but went extremely well with rice or bread.
House special biryani - my fav! Shrimp, goat, chicken with a kick of spices - the yogurt sauce complemented the dish so so well. Beyond delicious!
Nepali goat curry - the goat was tender and juicy. The curry was delectable. Another winning choice!
Onto desserts!
Nepali yogurt and gulab jamun - both overwhelming sweet even for my sweetest tooth. They do however make up for all the salt we had from appetizers and main entrees. Nothing special, I would recommend saving your dessert stomach for dolcezza down the street.
Overall - some hits, some misses - dinner for 4 with the 15 percent off thanks to Yelp check in - totalled around $88 plus tip. Not bad for the Bethesda area and quantity we received!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Debbie S.Washington, DC219747Sep 17, 2020
Finally a decent spot to get Indian food! I've experimented with a few in Bethesda and they never seem to satisfy the flavor or standards I have for Indian.
Ordered (through GrubHub) the chicken vindaloo (requested white meat) with rice, plain naan and roti. Delivery was within 45 min.
The vindaloo had the perfect amount of heat, the chicken was a good quality (appeared to be the same as chicken tandoori as you could see the skewer marks). Had the typical potatoes but added pepper? Appeared to be green pepper but couldn't quite tell in the sauce. Regardless, it was delightful and amounts to 2-3 servings. The only downside was the vindaloo was a bit liquidy and the rice portion is quite small (a cup of rice).
The naan was perfectly fluffy, cooked through, and toasted in spots. The roti was the same size as the naan and delightfully light despite it being made of whole wheat flour.
This will continue to be my spot for Indian going forward!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3812651047Mar 7, 2018
I have only ordered take out here so this review is only based on their food and delivery service! It took around 45 minutes from the time we ordered on the phone to the food being delivered, which I think is a pretty reasonable timeframe.
The chicken curry, khasi ko masu (goat curry), garlic naan bread, and Tarka Dal (yellow lentil) was delicious! The goat curry was spicy, but the meat is so juicy and tender. I would recommend trying this place for Nepalese/Himalayan cuisines!

I'd like to write a nice review for this place since they have treated us well in the past, but sadly they would not honor a $50 Yelp! gift certificate that my cousin purchased for us. They said "we don't do Yelp!" anymore.

On the plus side: It wasn't contaminated.
We ordered three things:
(1) Salmon tikka
(2) Butter chicken
(3) Papadum
It came out to just over $50 for delivery, including delivery fee, tax, and a 10 percent tip for the driver. See the photo for what that $50 bought us. I'd taken some rice out of the container; otherwise, that's the totality of what we got.
Salmon tikka: Fine. It had almost no tandoori flavor. Decent char, so it had that going for it. It wasn't dry. It was just . . . salmon chunks. The veggies that accompanied it were similarly fine. No seasoning, and covered in oil.
Butter chicken: Not good. The sauce was cloyingly sweet -- so much so that it was unappetizing after just a few bites. It had no Indian flavor to it -- just sweetness, on par with a candy bar.
Rice: Fine. Basmati. What you'd expect. We got one serving, that I guess we were supposed to share? We did, of course, but it was unexpectedly stingy for such an inexpensive ingredient and expensive meal.
Papadum: Decent, but where were the dipping sauces listed as included with it on the menu? Nowhere to be found. Mmmmm, dry papadum . . . nope. Three to the order, too, so $1 per.
Thoroughly disappointing meal. Props to DoorDash for getting it to us on time, but we will neither order here again nor recommend it to anyone.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
