Hillsborough Massage Therapy

Gary Verhoon runs this place, and he is an Ironman triathlete, as well as one of the best massage therapists here. He is also just a great guy to talk to. His staff is really well trained, dedicated and offers very good value - whether you need a pre-race stress release or just good overall bodywork, you are going to get a great massage and as customized as you want it. Portia and Gary are really good for harder deep tissue workouts, and Kathy is very good overall as well. We run a lot and race a lot and there's no reason for us to go anywhere else.

I've been to many spas - the most high end and all the way down to the "was this worth the journey for a massage" type places. But Hillsborough Massage Therapy is as good as it gets. No, it's not over the top fancy with robes and a tea lounge area - but you do not need that if the massage therapist works wonders on your body and provides the type of massage you are looking for.

I started coming here during the pandemic and let me tell you - they take sanitation procedures seriously. I have autoimmune issues, so this was a big deal for me. I got cupping along with my massage and these were the best massages of my life. I'm dreaming about having one right now. The massage therapists really knew how to work your muscles and tendons and not push them too far. I have chronic pain and this is one of the things that gives me relief. I've never had a massage that was so in-tuned to my body and soothing my pain.

So, seriously, forget all the floofy spas and get the best massage of your life here.

Best place to go for a massage, hands down. I would not be able to work out as hard as hard as I do without my friends at hillsborough massage therapy.

My muscles are always sore/tight from either working out or sitting at my desk. After a massage from anyone on the team here, I know I'll feel good and loose for weeks! The new therapist Michelle is phenomenal when it comes to knots in your neck and shoulder area.

Not very spa-like, and they could do just a few things to make it more comfortable for little expense like light some candles, room darkening shades, clean the carpets, but it was nice. The massage was good, but this happens to me often, they ask what you want and don't want and then ignore it. I said little arms and legs, a lot on my feet and jaw (I have TMJ disorder) and I got a lot of arms and legs, little feet time and no jaw help. VERY friendly and the massage I got felt professional and good. I had a gift card, so i do not know the price. I did only get 55 minutes at most instead of 60, but they gave me a bottle of water and had a dish of candy, lol.

I'm not reviewing an actual massage, since I never got that far. I made an appointment via phone on a Monday and showed up that Thursday for my scheduled massage, only to find the door locked and no one answering the phone.

They later called me back and said no one had ever entered my appointment in their system and they had no record of it. I understand that mistakes like this happen every now and then, which I can forgive, however they simply tried to get me to reschedule. If I knew I had a customer who just drove 25 minutes each way on a workday, only to find a locked door, I would have at least offered a free, or 1/2 off massage or something of the sort when rescheduling.

If you're looking for a spa experience with luxurious waiting rooms, tea's etc this is not what you want. However, if you want really good massage at great price in a comfortable atmosphere then you can't go past this place. They do sports and therapeutic massage and the price is half what you would pay at a real spa.
