Premium cocktails. Handmade backyard burgers. Grilled salmon and fresh Ahi Tuna. While we don't have dinosaurs or windmills, we do have one of the best and most challenging mini-golf courses in Texas. The Six String Grill, overlooking the Hill Country Golf & Guitar mini-golf course and the great Lawn in front of the live music stage, offers mouthwatering, Texas Hill Country-inspired meals that are sure to be the talk of your table. With plenty of seating on the deck and lots of windows for indoor diners, the Six String Grill presents a very open and casual, fun place to eat and hang with friends and family. With a backyard, home-cooked flavor and presentation, the Six String Grill will serve a variety of food for lunch and dinner, including signature favorites like charbroiled burgers (featuring house-ground Angus beef infused with Texas brisket), the Broken Strings, a delicious fried onion string bowl, stuffed Hill Country mushrooms, fresh garden salads, and Texas Gulf seafood. We have steaks for sizzle and desserts to die for. The Six String Grill menu provides no shortage of appetizers, entrees, and desserts- all featuring fresh, quality ingredients.

Huge disappointment. I knew we were in trouble when we had to wait at the hostess stand and they only had 4 tables full. Then we WAITED to be served, only to find out they have a limited menu tonight. (apparently the cook left and they are limited on food). After our appetizers came out we were informed that we could not order anything else. We order calamari (cold) and the chicken strips ( my son loved them, but no one else)
No manager, no communication and they still charged full price for everything. Heading off to putt putt, hope it gets better.
Not sure we'll be back.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Steven - I am the owner and I am equally upset with what happened tonight. The only thing I can say is that we are making some significant management changes over the next week. We have built a beautiful place and the food is wonderful when we have the right team to deliver it. Watch us over the next few weeks and you will see a complete change. We know you will love the food and the experience.

On a recent business trip to Austin we were asked us where we wanted to eat? Our host for that afternoon was the mastermind behind Hill Country Golf & Guitar - a concept which piqued my curiosity. I dig mini golf, love live music, and love eating. How could we pass up the opportunity?
As we drove up the highway that dark, damp, chilly evening the anticipation grew in parallel with the gurgling of hunger pains in my stomach. As we pulled in we were greeting by an illuminated, large metal cast guitar that is perched proudly in the front. No doubt, we arrived.
Our small group was quickly seated and initially served up a wide variety of appetizers (eg Fried Pickles, Ahi, Mushrooms,Chicken wings, and more)
For our entrees, steaks, salads, and more were ordered & enjoyed. Everyone's meal was prepared as requested and came out in a timely manner.
We finished off the evening with a big bowl of ice cream.
Service: Friendly and efficient
Food: Excellent - you will be surprised the bang for the buck.

Design: Top notch & classy - Contemporary Austin Hilly Country is how I might describe it.
We unfortunately didn't get to play mini golf due to the weather but the course(s) look fun and challenging.
I forgot to mention that Hill Country Golf & Guitar also offers a full bar and private dining rooms.
Whether you are solo, with a group or family check out Hill Country Golf & Guitar as it has something for almost everyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amelia C.Dripping Springs, TX3103Apr 4, 2015
We had a great time here! Sat down for lunch on the patio before golfing; the service was great and the menu had a lot of options. We had the loaded fries which were delicious, though the portion seemed a bit small for the price. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and burgers, but my spinach salad was a little boring and small considering it was more than $10. Overall not bad though, and the ambience sitting in the nice weather on the patio made it worthwhile.
The golfing was a blast! Two adults and one kid was $17 for a round of golf, which is not bad at all. The course was clean and nicely laid out... Though there isn't any 'fun' holes with statues or structures like you would find at Peter Pan or something. We were able to order beer from the bar to drink while playing, which made it that much more fun Mom and Dad :) We will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - JB S.Dallas, TX7647May 5, 2015
2 stars for cleanliness and appearance
Service does not pay attention to what we ask for and we shared two items asked if we can have split into separate plates with separate sauces because we were sitting at two separate tables
We were told no problem
Guess what it does not come that way
Asked what's lowest price draft / I was brought the highest.
Seems like communication breakdown!
Flatbread was so discussing we couldn't finish first piece and we were asked you want to take it home? And still tried charging us
Not again I want to order here
The "manager" was not pleasant with the whole thing either.
Not sure why this is the case.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gary G.Austin, TX1352Mar 28, 2016
I soooo wanted to like this place. The marketing and promo person or people are the real stars.
I took my wife and two boys there on a Sunday in late February.
We ordered chicken and waffles.
My wife ordered a bacon waffle.
When the waffle arrived with this 30 oz. chicken breast perched on top with a hunk of unmelted butter... I was transfixed. I wasn't sure whether I should be pleased with the portion size or not. As I gazed (I noticed my 16 year old gazing as if he also, was trying to figure out if he was disturbed or not) I came to the conclusion that this BIG BIRD... partially burned (those were not char marks)... this was a burnt fried chicken breast.
Note to the kitchen: I'm no chef Jose Andres, however, I suspect meat thicker than a quarter inch (pause) should be completely thawed and fried at a high heat; hears one reason why...
The breading completely fell off of the chicken as my son and I began to cut the burnt bird. This helped to expose the next issue...
Note II: The meat was not cooked through to wellness.
The service was average to friendly, the place was empty on a Sunday, literally, 3 other parties in the entire complex at 1 o'clock on a Sunday.
I found my mind and my eyes wondering around the place, because there was some very interesting Southwest art and decorations. Nice.
The SERVICE was average to friendly... to perhaps over friendly, or over suspect. I was stopped in the middle of the floor returning from the mens room and asked if I needed help. Again, there were maybe 3 groups in the entire joint, including the miniature golf area.
BACK TO THE FOOD
You know when you've had a bad meal, because before you've cleared your plate you're thinking... damn, how long before I can eat again and leave the taste and experience of this meal behind me?
Neither me or my son finished our meal... and again, this was brunch and thus, our first "meal" of the day.
Lastly... we finally figured out why we all gave pause as soon as our food arrived. . .
The chicken, waffle and teaspoon of never melted butter was sitting on the likes of a saucer that you would serve a slice of cake or a teacup... not an actual plate.
The only relief is I finally wrote this review and will try and purge this experience from my memory as I did the meal.
Note III from my wife: One reason applewood bacon, hickory, maple and other flavors are routinely infused with bacon is so the flavor has less of a pure bacon (lard) taste. We've never left a waffle behind... until now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David G.Falls Church, VA551Mar 31, 2016
Great bar and great mini-golf! Came here for a birthday get-together and really enjoyed it. Was definitely busy on a Saturday in spring, but the flow of play moved along really well.
Only suggestion would be to have places to put your drink out on the mini-golf course.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paige H.Austin, TX6076Jan 3, 2015
Watch out Hopdoddy, I think this place could take you on! I think we just found a new fav hangout off 71 next to Nitro...opened in Nov. My Head Banger burger with fried egg and yummy sautéed onions was delish! I suggest everyone come check it out with the family on any pretty day to eat, drink, games, and play some good ole putt putt! Excellent service, great food, great putt putt course.

Excellent idea and great initial execution.
The course is a lot of fun and the deck, bar, and food were great. The music was good. With all the great bands in Austin, it should be easy for G&G to attract some excellent bandsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon G.Austin, TX40232112Feb 8, 2015
What a great surprise the food was excellent. Steak sandwich was tender and great. Hamburger is one of the best in town nice soft bun. And the kids inhaled their food including the vegetables and fruit which were both very fresh!!
And they have a game room live music and golf !!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
