Nothing aggravates me more than paying for a car that I can't drive. I don't know why they even bother to give you an electric car that is not fully charged because you can't go anywhere. I rented the car for 1 day and spent the entire day charging the car. The person I worked with didn't know how to charge the car or where to charge the car. This is my first time with an electric car.
I just am beyond frustrated because a ride that would have been 2 hours ended up being at least 6 hours with me having to charge the car.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2021Updated review
I think this is still one of the very best Hertz locations. Staff is accommodating and makes renting cars easy and streamlined. I'm a loyal individual and this location has definitely earned my business time and time again. Good job guys!

Absolutely forget Shelton. They are worse than a barrel of monkies. Last rental was to pick up a car at 9 am. They didn't have one ready for us til 11:30! How unacceptable is that?

I don't think I can rate it zero or less, but would if that option was available. I made a reservation more than a month in advance for pickup in early July this year. When we got the car (a full size SUV) that we needed for a week long trip (four total people), it was the most filthy, disgusting car I have EVER rented. It smelled like someone had been smoking in it for days on end. The windshield was so dirty in and out we had to clean it before being able to really see clearly. I complained to the one person working at this location and he said he could get it cleaned once he had taken care of other customers (five waiting in line). We did not have hours to waste so cleaned it as much as we could. Hertz is supposed to be the #1 car rental company...NOT!

Made a reservation a month ago for a pick up of a Full Size SUV at noon today. I called and confirmed last week and this morning. I called this am to see if I could pick up slightly early. Was told it would cost me an extra $100 so I show up at 11:55 and store is CLOSED!!! I Called 800 # sat on hold for 20 mins until someone in India picked up and told me no available rentals in the area. I was disconnected and had to call again. Meanwhile 2 other customers showed up looking to pick up those rentals only to go through the same infuriating process. Finally an hour later i secured a downgrade to a minivan and they wanted to charge me 200 more and make me pay again as the credit from SUV will take 7 to 10 days to process. WTF?? Will never use Hertz ever again unless I get a full refund plus interest on the credit card hold.

I was sorry to see a number of poor reviews for this location. I have always had decent service and my last rental was excellent as they dropped off at my house while I was flying home.

Lena, makes the entire experience of a rental car horrible. Her coworkers said her attitude and obnoxious behavior are standard and she treats everyone rudely. Then why does she work there? Why isn't she fired?
If you're adult enough to work then you need to be adult enough to conduct yourself professionally and with courtesy when you're a customer service representative.

This is one of the worst Hertz facilities I have been to. I had to use their service as my insurance company has some link up with hertz.
They are really really bad at their cars and rude attitude of some of their employees.
I was given an Hyundai accent and this was s really bad car. All the car seats were stained so bad and also the blue tooth never worked. On top of this when we were going over all the scratches which are on the car the hertz employee was far from helping.

We were about to rent another Hertz car today for pickup at JFK and drop-off in Norwalk. Then we remembered the horrible location of the Norwalk Hertz since they moved it from the Merritt 7 business center --- we decided to got with another company ---

This was my worst car rental experience ever.
I needed a one way rental from CT to WV and I decided to go with Norwalk Hertz (it was the closest location). I booked a full size car online and when I got the the Hertz facility there was no car ready for me and the choices were very limited. So the person helping me suggested an upgrade to a Dodge Charger for a $25 fee. And I agreed with the change. When I asked what the total changes will be, I was told $112.50. The car was far from good condition, it was not cleaned and all scratched on one side.
When I dropped the car in WV I was told that the total charges will be $284 for a 20hours rental one way. On top of the regular charges I was charged an extra $0.30 per mile ($170).
I never knew that such a charge is even possible. Because every car rental that I ever had was with unlimited miles.
When I contacted the branch manager, he wasn't very helpful and he promised he will investigate. 4 days later, after daily calls from me and no call back from him, he told me that nothing can be done.
A simple CORRECT explanation of the total charges before signing the rental agreement could eliminate all the frustrations. And a little willingness to help from the management will go a long way.
